Якова 3
1 Не бувайте многі учителями, браттє моє, знаючи, що більший осуд приймемо.
Be not many teachers, my brethren, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.
2 Багато бо грішимо всі. Коли хто в слові не грішить, се звершений чоловік, сильний обуздати і все тіло.
For in many things we all stumble. If any stumbleth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.
3 Ось бо і коням узди в роти вкладаємо, щоб слухали нас, і все тїло їх повертаємо.
Now if we put the horses’ bridles into their mouths, that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.
4 Ось і кораблї, хоч які величезні, і страшенними вітрами носять ся, обертають ся малим стерном, куди воля стерника хоче.
Behold, the ships also, though they are so great, and are driven by rough winds, are yet turned about by a very small rudder, whither the impulse of the steersman willeth.
5 Так само й язик - малий член, а вельми хвалить ся. Ось малий огонь, а які великі речі палить!
So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!
6 язик огонь, сьвіт неправди; так, язик стоїть між членами нашими, сквернячи все тіло, і палючи круг природи, а запалюючись од геєнни. (Geenna g1067)
And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell. (Geenna g1067)
7 Всяка бо природа, зьвірей і птиць, гадів і морських (зьвірів) вгамовуєть ся і вгамовано природою чоловічою;
For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:
8 язика ж ніхто з людей не може вгамувати, без упину бо (се) зло, повне отрути смертоносної.
but the tongue can no man tame; [it is] a restless evil, [it is] full of deadly poison.
9 Ним благословляємо Бога і Отця, і ним кленем людей, що постали поподобию Божому.
Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the likeness of God:
10 Із тих же уст виходить благословеннє і проклін. Не подобає, браттє моє любе, сьому так бути.
out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Хиба криниця з одного джерела випускає солодке і гірке?
Doth the fountain send forth from the same opening sweet [water] and bitter?
12 Хиба може, браттє моє, смоківниця маслини родити, або виноградина смокви? Так само нї одна криниця не дає солоної і солодкої води.
Can a fig tree, my brethren, yield olives, or a vine figs? neither [can] salt water yield sweet.
13 Хто мудрий та розумний міми вами, нехай покаже з доброго життя діла свої в лагідности і премудрости.
Who is wise and understanding among you? let him shew by his good life his works in meekness of wisdom.
14 Коли ж гірку зависть маєте та сварку в серцї вашому, то не величайтесь і не кривіть на правду.
But if ye have bitter jealousy and faction in your heart, glory not and lie not against the truth.
15 Не сходить ся премудрость звише, а земна (вона), душевна, бісовська.
This wisdom is not [a wisdom] that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 Де бо зависть та сварка, там безладдє і всяке лихе дїло.
For where jealousy and faction are, there is confusion and every vile deed.
17 А та премудрость, що звише, найперше чиста, потім мирна, лагідна, покірлива, повна милости і добрих овочів, безсторонна і нелицемірна.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without variance, without hypocrisy.
18 Овощ же праведности сїєть ся в упокої тим, хто творить упокій.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.
