Дії 16
1 Прийшовже у Дервию та в Листру; і ось був там один ученик, на ймя Тимотей, син однієї жінки, вірної Жидівки, батька ж Грека,
He came to Derbe and Lystra; and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed, but his father was a Greek.
2 що мав добру славу між братами у Листрі та Ікониї.
The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.
3 Сього схотів Павел узяти з собою; і взявши обрізав його задля Жидів, що були в тих місцях; знали бо всі батька його, що був Грек.
Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4 Як же проходили городи, передавали їм хоронити устави, постановлені від апостолів та старших, що в Єріусалимі.
As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the emissaries and elders who were at Jerusalem.
5 Церкви ж утверджувались у вірі, і прибували числом що-дня.
So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 Як же пройшли Фригию та Галацьку сторону, заборонив їм сьвятий Дух промовляти слово в Азиї.
When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
7 Прийшовши ж в Мисию, поривались ійти в Витинию, і не пустив їх Дух.
When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn’t allow them.
8 Перейшовши ж Мисию, прийшли в Трояду.
Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
9 І явилось уночі видїннє Павлу: стояв один чоловік Македонець, благаючи його й говорячи: Прийшовши в Македонцю, поможи нам.
A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.”
10 Як же видїннє увидїв, забажали ми зараз іти в Македонцю, зрозумівши, що Господь покликав нас благовіствувати їм.
When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to proclaim the Good News to them.
11 Пустившись тодї з Трояди, приспіли ми в Самотракию, другого ж дня в Неаполь,
Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;
12 а звідтіля в Филипи, котрий єсть первий город тієї части Македониї - осада. Пробували ж ми в сьому городі кілька днїв.
and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.
13 А субітнього дня вийшли геть а города над річку, де бувало звичайно моленнє, і посідавши говорили до жінок, що посходились.
On the Sabbath day we went outside of the city by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
14 І слухала нас одна жінка, на ймя Лидия, купчиха кармазином, із города Тиятирського, що шанувала Бога; їй же Господь відчинив серце уважати на глаголанє від Павла.
A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshipped God, heard us. The Lord opened her heart to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.
15 Як же охрестилась вона і дім її, благала, говорячи: Коли ви судили мене, що я вірна Господеві, то, ввійшовши в господу мою, пробувайте. І присилувала нас.
When she and her household were immersed, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.
16 Стало ся ж, як ми йшли на молитву, зустріла нас одна дївчина, що мала духа віщого, і котра заробіток великий давала панам своїм, ворожачи.
As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.
17 Ся, йдучи слїдом за Павлом та. за нами, покликувала, кажучи: Сї люде - слуги Вишнього Бога, що звіщають нам дорогу спасення.
Following Paul and us, she cried out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!”
18 Робила ж се многі днї. Далїй Павел, розсердившись і обернувшись, рече духові: Повелїваю тобі імям Ісуса Христа, вийди з неї. І вийшов тієї ж години.
She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Yeshua the Messiah to come out of her!” It came out that very hour.
19 Видївши ж пани її, що пропала надія заробітку їх, схопивши Павла та Силу, потягли їх на майдан до князїв.
But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.
20 І привівши їх до воївод, казали: Сї люде вельми трівожать город наш, бувши Жидами,
When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men, being Jews, are agitating our city
21 і навчають звичаїв, котрих не годить ся нам приймати, анї робити, бувши Римлянами.
and advocate customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans.”
22 І встав народ проти них, а воїводи, роздерши одежу їх, звеліли бити їх.
The multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates tore their clothes from them, then commanded them to be beaten with rods.
23 І завдавши їм багато ран, повкидали в темницю, звелївши темничнику пильно стерегти їх
When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.
24 Котрий прийнявши такий наказ, повкидав їх у саму середню темницю і позабивав ноги їх у колоду.
Having received such a command, he threw them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks.
25 О півночі Павел та Сила молившись славили Бога піснею, і чули їх вязники.
But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26 Нараз став ся великий трус, так що аж підвалини в вязницї захитались; і повідчинялись зараз усї двері, і поспадали кайдани з усїх.
Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were loosened.
27 Прокинувши ся ж темничник од сну, та побачивши відтинені двері темниці, вийнявши меч, хотїв себе вбити, думаючи, що повтікали вязники.
The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
28 Покликнув же голосом великим Павел, говорячи: Не роби собі нічого лихого, всї бо ми тут.
But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, “Don’t harm yourself, for we are all here!”
29 Попросивши ж сьвітла, вбіг трусячись, і припав до Павла та Сиди,
He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,
30 а, вивівши їх геть, каже: Добродії, що менї робити, щоб спастись?
brought them out, and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 Вони ж рекли: Віруй в Господа Ісуса Христа, то спасеш ся ти і дім твій.
They said, “Believe in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
32 І глаголали йому слово Господнє, і всїм, що в дому його.
They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.
33 І, взявши їх тієї ж нічної години, пообмивав рани, та й охрестив ся сам і всї його зараз.
He took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes, and was immediately immersed, he and all his household.
34 І, повівши їх у господу свою, заставив перед ними стіл, і веселив ся з усїм домом, увірувавши в Бога.
He brought them up into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly with all his household, having believed in God.
35 Як же настав день, прислали воїводи наличників, кажучи: Відпусти людей сих.
But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, “Let those men go.”
36 Звістив же темничник про сї слова Павла, що прислали воїводи, щоб відпустити вас;
The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out and go in peace.”
37 Павел же рече: Бивши нас прилюдно неосуджених людей римських, повкидали в темницю, а тепер потай нас виганяють? Нї бо, а нехай самі, прийшовши, виведуть нас.
But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!”
38 Звістили ж воїводам паличники слова сї; і перелякались, почувши, дцо вони Римляне.
The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,
39 І прийшовши благали їх, і вивівши просили, щоб вийшли з города.
and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.
40 І, вийшовши вони з темницї, прийшли до Лидиї, і, побачивши братів, утішили їх, та й пійшли.
They went out of the prison and entered into Lydia’s house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, then departed.
