1 RAB Musa'ya şöyle dedi:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 “İsrail topluluğuna de ki, ‘Kutsal olun, çünkü ben Tanrınız RAB kutsalım.
“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails], and tell them, ‘You shall be holy; for I, Adonai your God, am holy.
3 “‘Herkes annesine babasına saygı göstersin. Şabat günlerimi tutun. Tanrınız RAB benim.
“‘Each one of you shall respect his mother and his father. You shall keep my Sabbaths. I am Adonai your God.
4 “‘Putlara tapmayın. Kendinize dökme ilahlar yapmayın. Tanrınız RAB benim.
“‘Don’t turn to idols, nor make molten deities for yourselves. I am Adonai your God.
5 “‘RAB için esenlik kurbanı keseceğiniz zaman kabul edilecek biçimde kesin.
“‘When you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to Adonai, you shall offer it so that you may be accepted.
6 Kurban eti, kestiğiniz gün ya da ertesi gün yenecek. Üçüncü güne kalan et yakılacak.
It shall be eaten the same day you offer it, and on the next day: and if anything remains until the third day, it shall be burned with fire.
7 Üçüncü gün yenirse iğrenç sayılır. Kabul olmayacaktır.
If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is an abomination. It will not be accepted;
8 Onu yiyen suçunun cezasını çekecektir. Çünkü RAB'bin gözünde kutsal olanı bayağılaştırmıştır. Halkın arasından atılacaktır.
but everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned the holy thing of Adonai, and that soul shall be cut off from his people.
9 “‘Ülkenizdeki ekinleri biçerken tarlanızı sınırlarına kadar biçmeyeceksiniz. Artakalan başakları toplamayacaksınız.
“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
10 Bağbozumunda bağınızı tümüyle devşirmeyecek, yere düşen üzümleri toplamayacaksınız. Onları yoksullara ve yabancılara bırakacaksınız. Tanrınız RAB benim.
You shall not glean your vineyard, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the foreigner. I am Adonai your God.
11 “‘Çalmayacaksınız. Hile yapmayacaksınız. Birbirinize yalan söylemeyeceksiniz.
“‘You shall not steal from, defraud, or lie to one another.
12 Benim adımla yalan yere ant içmeyeceksiniz. Tanrınız'ın adını aşağılamış olursunuz. RAB benim.
“‘You shall not swear by my name falsely, and profane the name of your God. I am Adonai.
13 “‘Komşuna haksızlık etmeyecek, onu soymayacaksın. İşçinin alacağını sabaha bırakmayacaksın.
“‘You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. “‘The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.
14 Sağıra lanet etmeyecek, körün önüne engel koymayacaksın. Tanrın'dan korkacaksın. RAB benim.
“‘You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind; but you shall fear your God. I am Adonai.
15 “‘Yargılarken haksızlık yapmayacaksın. Yoksula ayrıcalık göstermeyecek, güçlüyü kayırmayacaksın. Komşunu adaletle yargılayacaksın.
“‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor uprightly.
16 Halkının arasında onu bunu çekiştirerek dolaşmayacaksın. Komşunun canına zarar vermeyeceksin. RAB benim.
“‘You shall not go up and down as a slanderer among your people. “‘You shall not endanger the life of your neighbor. I am Adonai.
17 “‘Kardeşine yüreğinde nefret beslemeyeceksin. Komşun günah işlerse onu uyaracaksın. Yoksa sen de günah işlemiş olursun.
“‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.
18 Öç almayacaksın. Halkından birine kin beslemeyeceksin. Komşunu kendin gibi seveceksin. RAB benim.
“‘You shall not take vengeance or revenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall 'ahav ·affectionately love· your neighbor as yourself. I am Adonai.
19 “‘Kurallarımı uygulayın. Farklı cinsten iki hayvanı çiftleştirme. Tarlana iki çeşit tohum ekme. Üzerine iki tür iplikle dokunmuş giysi giyme.
“‘You shall keep my regulations. “‘You shall not cross-breed different kinds of animals. “‘You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; “‘Don’t wear a garment made of two kinds of material.
20 “‘Bir adam bir cariyeyle yatarsa, eğer kadın nişanlı, bedeli ödenmemiş ya da azat edilmemişse, ikisi de cezalandırılacak ama öldürülmeyecek. Çünkü kadın özgür değildir.
“‘If a man lies carnally with a woman who is a slave girl, pledged to be married to another man, and not ransomed, or given her freedom; they shall be punished. They shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
21 Adam RAB'be, Buluşma Çadırı'nın giriş bölümüne, suç sunusu olarak bir koç getirecek.
He shall bring his trespass offering to Adonai, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, even a ram for a trespass offering.
22 Kâhin bu koçla adamın işlediği günahı RAB'bin önünde bağışlatacak ve adam bağışlanacak.
The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before Adonai for his sin which he has committed: and the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him.
23 “‘Kenan ülkesine girdiğinizde bir meyve ağacı dikerseniz, ilk üç yıl meyvesini kirli ve yasak sayın, yemeyin.
“‘When you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as forbidden. Three years they shall be forbidden to you. It shall not be eaten.
24 Dördüncü yıl ağacın bütün meyvesi şükran sunusu olarak RAB için kutsal sayılacak.
But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, for giving praise to Adonai.
25 Beşinci yıl ağacın meyvesini yiyebilirsiniz. Böylece ağaç daha bol ürün verir. Tanrınız RAB benim.
In the fifth year you shall eat its fruit, that it may yield its increase to you. I am Adonai your God.
26 “‘Kanlı et yemeyeceksiniz. Kehanette bulunmayacak, falcılık yapmayacaksınız.
“‘You shall not eat any meat with the blood still in it. You shall not use enchantments, nor practice sorcery.
27 Başınızın yan tarafındaki saçları kesmeyecek, sakalınızın kenarlarına dokunmayacaksınız.
“‘You shall not cut the hair on the sides of your head or clip off the edge of your beard.
28 Ölüler için bedeninizi yaralamayacak, dövme yaptırmayacaksınız. RAB benim.
“‘You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you. I am Adonai.
29 “‘Kızını fahişeliğe sürükleyip rezil etme. Yoksa fahişelik yayılır ve ülke ahlaksızlıkla dolup taşar.
“‘Don’t profane your daughter, to make her a prostitute; lest the land fall to prostitution, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 Şabat günlerimi tutacaksınız. Tapınağıma saygı göstereceksiniz. RAB benim.
“‘You shall keep my Sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary; I am Adonai.
31 “‘Cincilere, ruh çağıranlara yönelmeyin. Onlara danışmayın, kirlenirsiniz. Tanrınız RAB benim.
“‘Don’t turn to those who are spirit-mediums, nor to the sorcerers. Don’t seek them out, to be defiled by them. I am Adonai your God.
32 “‘Ak saçlı insanların önünde ayağa kalkacak, yaşlılara saygı göstereceksin. Tanrın'dan korkacaksın. RAB benim.
“‘You shall rise up before the silver haired, and honor the face of an elder old man, and you shall fear your God. I am Adonai.
33 “‘Ülkenizde sizinle birlikte yaşayan bir yabancıya kötü davranmayın.
“‘If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong.
34 Ona sizden biriymiş gibi davranacak ve onu kendiniz kadar seveceksiniz. Çünkü siz de Mısır'da yabancıydınız. Tanrınız RAB benim.
The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall 'ahav ·affectionately love· him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery]. I am Adonai your God.
35 “‘Yargılarken, uzunluk ve sıvı ölçerken, ağırlık tartarken haksızlık yapmayın.
“‘You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, of weight, or of quantity.
36 Doğru terazi, ağırlık taşı, efa ve hin kullanın. Mısır'dan sizi çıkaran Tanrınız RAB benim.
You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah [0.63 bushels; 5.9 gal; 22 L], and a just hin [0.98 gal; 3.7 L]. I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery].
37 Kurallarımın, ilkelerimin tümüne uyacak ve onları yerine getireceksiniz. RAB benim.’”
“‘You shall observe all my regulations, and all my judgments, and do them. I am Adonai.’”
