2 Samuel 17
1 Ahitofel Avşalom'a şöyle dedi: “İzin ver de on iki bin kişi seçeyim, bu gece kalkıp Davut'un peşine düşeyim.
Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.
2 Davut yorgun ve güçsüzken ona saldırıp gözünü korkutayım. Yanındakilerin hepsi kaçacaktır. Ben de yalnız Kral Davut'u öldürürüm.
I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid. All the people who are with him shall flee. I will strike the king only,
3 Sonra bütün halkı sana geri getiririm. Halkın dönmesi, öldürmek istediğin adamın ölümüne bağlıdır. Böylece halk da esenlikte olur.”
and I will bring back all the people to you, as a bride returns to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be in peace."
4 Bu öğüt Avşalom'u ve İsrail ileri gelenlerini hoşnut etti.
The saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
5 Avşalom, “Arklı Huşay'ı da çağırın, neler söyleyeceğini duyalım” dedi.
Then Absalom said, "Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he says."
6 Huşay gelince Avşalom, “Ahitofel bu öğüdü verdi” dedi, “Onun öğüdüne uyalım mı? Yoksa, sen öğüt ver.”
When Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, "Ahithophel has spoken like this. Shall we do what he says? And if not, speak up."
7 Huşay Avşalom'a, “Bu kez Ahitofel'in verdiği öğüt iyi değil” dedi,
Hushai said to Absalom, "The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good."
8 “Baban Davut'la adamlarının güçlü savaşçılar olduklarını biliyorsun. Kırda yavrularından yoksun bırakılmış bir ayı gibi öfkeliler. Baban deneyimli bir savaşçıdır, geceyi askerlerle geçirmez.
Hushai said moreover, "You know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are fierce in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field. Your father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 Şu anda ya bir mağarada ya da başka bir yerde gizlenmiştir. Davut askerlerine karşı ilk saldırıyı yapınca, bunu her duyan, ‘Avşalom'u destekleyenler arasında kırım var’ diyecek.
Look, he is now hidden in some pit, or in some other place. It will happen, when some of them have fallen at the first, that whoever hears it will say, 'There is a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom.'
10 O zaman aslan yürekli yiğitler bile korkuya kapılacak. Çünkü bütün İsrailliler babanın güçlü, yanındakilerin de yiğit olduğunu bilir.
Even he who is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, will utterly melt; for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men.
11 “Onun için sana öğüdüm şu: Dan'dan Beer-Şeva'ya kadar, kıyıların kumu kadar olan İsrailliler çevrene toplansın, sen de savaşa katıl.
But, I strongly advise as follows, that all Israel be gathered together to you, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that you personally go into battle.
12 O zaman gizlendiği yerlerden birinde Davut'un üstüne yürürüz; yeryüzüne düşen çiy gibi üzerine gideriz. Onu da, yanındakilerin hiçbirini de yaşatmayız.
So shall we come on him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light on him as the dew falls on the ground; and of him and of all the men who are with him we will not leave so much as one.
13 Eğer bir kente çekilirse, İsrailliler o kente halatlar getirir, tek bir taş kalmayıncaya dek kenti vadiye indiririz.”
Moreover, if he be gone into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there isn't one small stone found there."
14 Avşalom'la İsrailliler, “Arklı Huşay'ın öğüdü Ahitofel'in öğüdünden daha iyi” dediler. Çünkü RAB, Avşalom'u yıkıma uğratmak için, Ahitofel'in iyi öğüdünü boşa çıkarmayı tasarlamıştı.
Absalom and all the men of Israel said, "The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel." For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Absalom.
15 Huşay Kâhin Sadok'la Kâhin Aviyatar'a şöyle dedi: “Ahitofel Avşalom'a ve İsrail'in ileri gelenlerine böyle öğüt verdi, bense şöyle öğüt verdim.
Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, "Ahithophel counseled Absalom and the elders of Israel that way; and I have counseled this way.
16 Şimdi siz Davut'a hemen şu haberi gönderin: ‘Geceyi kırdaki ırmağın sığ yerinde geçirme, duraksamadan karşı yakaya geç; yoksa kral da yanındakilerin tümü de yok olabilir.’”
Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, 'Do not lodge this night at the fords of the wilderness, but by all means pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people who are with him.'"
17 Bu sırada Yonatan'la Ahimaas Eyn-Rogel'de kalıyorlardı. Bir hizmetçi kız gidip onlara olup bitenleri haber veriyor, onlar da gidip duyduklarını Kral Davut'a bildiriyorlardı. Çünkü kendileri kente girerken görünmeyi göze alamıyorlardı.
Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying by En Rogel; and a female servant used to go and tell them; and they went and told king David. For they might not be seen to come into the city.
18 Ama bir genç onları görüp Avşalom'a bildirdi. Bunun üzerine Yonatan'la Ahimaas hemen oradan ayrılıp Bahurim'de bir adamın evine gittiler. Evin avlusunda bir kuyu vardı. Yonatan'la Ahimaas kuyuya indiler.
But a boy saw them, and told Absalom. Then they both went away quickly, and came to the house of a man in Bahurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down there.
19 Adamın karısı bir örtü alıp kuyunun ağzına serdi. Bir şey belli olmasın diye örtünün üstüne başak yaydı.
The woman took and spread the covering over the well's mouth, and spread out bruised grain on it; and nothing was known.
20 Avşalom'un görevlileri eve, kadının yanına varınca, “Ahimaas'la Yonatan nerede?” diye sordular. Kadın, “Irmağın karşı yakasına geçtiler” diye yanıtladı. Avşalom'un görevlileri onları aramaya gittiler; bulamayınca Yeruşalim'e döndüler.
Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house; and they said, "Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?" The woman said to them, "They have gone over the brook of water." When they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 Adamlar gittikten sonra, Ahimaas'la Yonatan kuyudan çıktılar ve olup bitenleri bildirmek üzere Kral Davut'a gittiler. Ona, “Haydi, hemen ırmağı geçin” dediler, “Çünkü Ahitofel size karşı böyle öğüt verdi.”
It happened, after they had departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David. And they said to him, "Arise and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Ahithophel counseled against you."
22 Bunun üzerine Davut'la yanındaki bütün halk Şeria Irmağı'nı çabucak geçti. Şafak söktüğünde Şeria Irmağı'nı geçmeyen bir kişi bile kalmamıştı.
Then David arose, and all the people who were with him, and they passed over the Jordan. By the morning light there lacked not one of them who had not gone over the Jordan.
23 Ahitofel, verdiği öğüde uyulmadığını görünce, eşeğine palan vurdu; yola koyulup kentine, evine döndü. İşlerini düzene koyduktan sonra kendini astı. Ölüsünü babasının mezarına gömdüler.
When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and went home, to his city, and set his house in order, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.
24 Davut Mahanayim'e vardığı sırada Avşalom'la yanındaki İsrail askerleri Şeria Irmağı'nı geçtiler.
Then David came to Mahanaim. Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 Avşalom Yoav'ın yerine Amasa'yı ordu komutanı atamıştı. Amasa Yitra adında bir İsmaili'nin oğluydu. Annesi Nahaş'ın kızı Avigayil'di; Yoav'ın annesi Seruya'nın kızkardeşiydi.
Absalom set Amasa over the army instead of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man, whose name was Jether the Ishmaelite, who went in to Abigail the daughter of Jesse, sister to Zeruiah, Joab's mother.
26 Avşalom'la İsrailliler Gilat bölgesinde ordugah kurdular.
Israel and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
27 Davut Mahanayim'e vardığında, Ammonlular'ın Rabba Kenti'nden Nahaş oğlu Şovi, Lo-Devarlı Ammiel oğlu Makir ve Rogelim'den Gilatlı Barzillay ona yataklar, taslar, toprak kaplar getirdiler. Ayrıca Davut'la yanındakilerin yemesi için buğday, arpa, un, kavrulmuş buğday, bakla, mercimek, bal, tereyağı, inek peyniri ve koyun da getirdiler. “Halk kırda yorulmuştur, aç ve susuzdur” diye düşünmüşlerdi.
It happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the people of Ammon, and Makir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
brought beds, and basins, and pottery utensils, and wheat, and barley, and meal, and parched grain, and beans, and lentils,
and honey, and curd of the flock, and cheese of the herd. And they presented them to David and to the people who were with him to eat. For they said, "The people are hungry and tired and thirsty in the wilderness."
