< Saame 28 >

1 Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Te u tangi kiate koe, ʻE Sihova ko hoku makatuʻu; ʻoua naʻa ke taʻeʻafioʻi au: telia, ʻi hoʻo taʻeʻafioʻi au, te u hoko ʻo tatau mo kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he luo.
Of David. Unto you, O Lord, do I cry; my rock, be not deaf to me: lest, through holding your peace, I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Ke ke ongoʻi ʻae leʻo ʻo ʻeku lotu tāumaʻu, ʻo kau ka tangi kiate koe, ʻo kau ka hiki hake hoku nima ki ho folofolaʻanga māʻoniʻoni.
Hear my loud entreaty, as I cry for help to you, lifting my hands, O Lord, towards your holy chancel.
3 ‌ʻOua naʻa ke toho au mo e kau angahala, pea mo kinautolu ʻoku fai kovi, ʻakinautolu ʻoku lea mālie ki honau kaungāʻapi, ka ʻoku ʻi honau loto ʻae kovi.
Take me not off with the wicked, nor with the workers of wrong, whose speech to their neighbours is friendly, while evil is in their heart.
Give them as they have done, as their wicked deeds deserve. As their hands have wrought, so give to them: requite to them their deserts.
5 Ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau taʻetokanga ki he ngaahi ngāue ʻa Sihova, mo e ngāue ʻa hono nima, te ne fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe ʻikai langa hake ʻakinautolu.
They are blind to all that the Lord does, to all that his hands have wrought; and so he will tear them down, to build them up no more.
6 Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻene ongoʻi ʻae leʻo ʻo ʻeku lotu tāumaʻu.
Blest be the Lord, who has heard my voice as I plead for mercy.
7 Ko hoku mālohi mo hoku fakaū ʻa Sihova; naʻe falala kiate ia hoku loto, pea kuo tokoniʻi au: ko ia ʻoku fiefia lahi ai hoku loto; pea ʻi heʻeku hiva te u fakafetaʻi kiate ia.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him. I was helped: so my heart is exultant, and in my song I will praise him.
8 Ko e mālohi ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu, pea ko e mālohi fakamoʻui ia ʻo ʻene pani.
The Lord is the strength of his people, the fortress who saves his anointed.
9 Ke ke fakamoʻui hoʻo kakai, mo tāpuaki ho tofiʻa: tauhi ʻakinautolu foki, pea hiki hake ʻakinautolu ke taʻengata.
O save your people, and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
