1 Mou ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova he ʻoku angalelei ia: koeʻuhi ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.
Give thanks to the Lord for his goodness, his kindness endures forever.
2 Ke lea ni ʻe ʻIsileli, “ʻOku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.”
Let the house of Israel now say: his kindness endures forever.
3 Ke lea ni ʻae fale ʻo ʻElone, “ʻOku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.”
Let the house of Aaron now say: his kindness endures forever.
4 Tuku ke lea ni ʻakinautolu ʻoku nau manavahē kia Sihova, ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.
Let those who fear the Lord now say: his kindness endures forever.
5 Naʻaku ui kia Sihova ʻi he mamahi: pea naʻe talia au ʻe Sihova, mo ne tuku au ki he potu ʻataʻatā.
Out of straits I called on the Lord, the Lord answered and gave me room.
6 ‌ʻOku kau maʻaku ʻa Sihova; ʻe ʻikai te u manavahē ko e hā ʻe faʻa fai ʻe he tangata kiate au.
The Lord is mine; I am fearless. What can mere people do to me?
7 ‌ʻOku fai maʻaku ʻa Sihova mo kinautolu ʻoku nau tokoni au: ko ia te u mamata ai kiate kinautolu ʻoku nau fehiʻa kiate au.
The Lord is mine, as my help: I shall feast my eyes on my foes.
8 ‌ʻOku lelei lahi ʻae falala kia Sihova ʻi he falala ki he tangata.
It is better to hide in the Lord than to trust in mortals.
9 ‌ʻOku lelei lahi ʻae falala kia Sihova ʻi he falala ki he ngaahi ʻeiki.
It is better to hide in the Lord than to put any trust in princes.
10 Naʻe kāpui au ʻe he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē: ka ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova te u fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu.
Everywhere heathen swarmed round me; in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
11 Naʻa nau takatakai au; ʻio, naʻa nau kāpui au: ka ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova te u fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu.
They swarmed, swarmed around me; in the name of the Lord I cut them down,
12 Naʻa nau kāpui au ʻo hangē ko e fanga pi; kuo tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e afi ʻi he ʻakau talatala: he te u fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova.
they swarmed around me like bees, they blazed like a fire of thorns: in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
13 Kuo ke tekeʻi mālohi au koeʻuhi ke u hinga ai: ka naʻe tokoni au ʻe Sihova
Sore they pushed me, to make me fall; but the Lord gave me his help.
14 Ko hoku mālohi ʻa Sihova mo ʻeku hiva, pea kuo hoko ia ko hoku fakamoʻui.
The Lord is my strength and my song, and he is become my salvation.
15 Ko e lea ʻoe fiefia mo e fakamoʻui ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi fale fehikitaki ʻoe angatonu: ʻoku fai mālohi ʻae nima toʻomataʻu ʻo Sihova.
Hark! In the tents of the righteous glad cries of victory are ringing. The hand of the Lord has wrought bravely,
16 Kuo hiki hake ʻae nima toʻomataʻu ʻo Sihova: ʻoku fai mālohi ʻae nima toʻomataʻu ʻo Sihova.
the hand of the Lord is exalted, the hand of the Lord has wrought bravely.
17 ‌ʻE ʻikai te u mate, kae moʻui, ʻo fakahā ʻae ngaahi ngāue ʻa Sihova.
I shall not die: nay, I shall live, to declare the works of the Lord.
18 Kuo tautea fakamamahiʻi au ʻe Sihova: ka ʻoku teʻeki ai te ne tukuange au ki he mate.
Though the Lord has chastened me sore, he has not given me over to death. (The Procession arrives at the Temple)
19 Toʻo kiate au ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe māʻoniʻoni: te u hū ai, pea u fakamālō kia Sihova:
‘Open to me the gates of victory. I would enter therein and give thanks to the Lord.’ (The Welcome)
20 Ko e matapā eni ʻo Sihova, ʻaia ʻe hū ai ʻae angatonu.
‘This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous may enter therein;’
21 Te u fakamālō kiate koe: he kuo ke ongoʻi au, pea kuo ke hoko ko hoku fakamoʻui.
I thank you because you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
22 Ko e maka naʻe liʻaki ʻe he kau tufunga kuo hoko ia ko e fungani maka ʻoe tuliki.
The stone which the builders despised is become the head-stone of the corner.
23 Ko e ngāue eni ʻa Sihova; pea ko e meʻa fakaofo ʻi hotau ʻao.
This has been wrought by the Lord; it is marvellous in our eyes.
24 Ko e ʻaho eni kuo ngaohi ʻe Sihova; te tau fiefia pea nekeneka ai.
This day is the Lord’s own creation: in it let us joy and be glad.
25 ‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ou kole kiate koe, ke ke fakamoʻui ni: ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ou kole kiate koe, ke ke tuku mai ni ʻae monūʻia.
O Lord, save us, we pray, O Lord, prosper, we pray.
26 Ke monūʻia ia ʻoku haʻu ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova: kuo mau tāpuekina ʻakimoutolu mei he fale ʻo Sihova.
Blessed the one who enters in the name of the Lord. From the house of the Lord we bless you.
27 Ko e ʻOtua ko Sihova ia, ʻaia kuo ne fakahā ʻae maama kiate kitautolu: mou nonoʻo ʻae feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi afo ki he ngaahi nifo, ʻoe feilaulauʻanga.
The Lord is God, he has given us light. Wreathe the dance with boughs, till they touch the horns of the altar.
28 Ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua, pea te u fakamālō kiate koe: ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua, te u fakahikihikiʻi koe.
You are my God, I will thank you; O my God, I will exalt you.
29 Mou ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova he ʻoku angalelei ia: koeʻuhi ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.
Give thanks to the Lord for his goodness: his kindness endures forever.
