< Mātiu 10 >

1 Pea kuo ne ui ke haʻu kiate ia ʻene kau ākonga ʻe toko hongofulu ma toko ua, naʻa ne tuku kiate kinautolu ʻae mālohi, ke nau kapusi ʻae ngaahi laumālie taʻemaʻa, pea ke nau fakamoʻui ʻae mahaki kotoa pē, mo e hangatāmaki kotoa pē.
Calling his twelve Disciples to him, Jesus gave them authority over foul spirits, so that they could drive them out, as well as the power of curing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
2 Pea ko e hingoa eni ʻoe kau ʻaposetolo ʻe toko hongofulu ma toko ua; Ko e ʻuluaki, ko Saimone, ʻoku ui ko Pita, mo ʻAnitelū ko hono tokoua; ko Semisi ko e [foha ]ʻo Sepeti, mo Sione ko hono tokoua;
The names of the twelve apostles are these, First Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
3 Ko Filipe, mo Pātolomiu; ko Tōmasi, mo Mātiu ko e tānaki tukuhau; ko Semisi ko e [foha ]ʻo ʻAlefiusi, mo Lepiusi, naʻe ui ko Tatiusi;
Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax-gather; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
4 Ko Saimone ko e Kēnani, mo Siutasi ʻIsikaliote, ʻaia ne lavakiʻi ia.
Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot – the apostle who betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent out as his messengers, after giving them these instructions – “Do not go to the Gentiles, nor enter any Samaritan town,
6 Ka mou ʻalu muʻa ki he fanga sipi hē ʻoe fale ʻo ʻIsileli.
but make your way rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
7 Pea ka mou ka ʻalu, mou malanga, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻOku ofi ʻae puleʻanga ʻoe langi.’
On your way proclaim that the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Fakamoʻui ʻae mahaki, fakamaʻa ʻae kilia, fokotuʻu ʻae mate, kapusi ʻae kau tēvolo: kuo mou maʻu taʻetotongi, pea ʻoatu taʻetotongi.
Cure the sick, raise the dead, make the lepers clean, drive out demons. You have received free of cost, give free of cost.
9 ‌ʻOua naʻa tokonaki ki homou noʻo ha koula, pe ha siliva, pe ha kapa.
Do not provide yourselves with gold, or silver, or coins in your purses;
10 pe ha kato ki he fononga, pe ha kofutuʻa ʻe ua, pe ha topuvaʻe, pe ha tokotoko: he ʻoku taau mo e tangata ngāue ke ne maʻu ʻe ia haʻa ne tauhi.
not even with a bag for the journey, or a change of clothes, or sandals, or even a staff; for the worker is worth his food.
11 “Pea ko e kolo mo e potu kakai kotoa pē te mou hū ki ai, mou fehuʻi pe ko hai ʻi ai ʻoku angalelei; pea mou nofo ai kaeʻoua ke mou toki ʻalu.
Whatever town or village you visit, find out who is worthy in that place, and remain there until you leave.
12 Pea ka mou ka hū ki he fale, tāpuakiʻi ia.
As you enter the house, greet it.
13 Pea kapau ʻoku lelei ʻae fale, ʻe hoko ki ai hoʻomou tāpuaki: pea kapau ʻoku ʻikai lelei, ʻe foki mai hoʻomou tāpuaki kiate kimoutolu.
Then, if the house is worthy, let your blessing rest on it, but, if it is unworthy, let your blessing return on yourselves.
14 Pea ko ia ʻe ʻikai maʻu ʻakimoutolu, pe fanongo ki hoʻomou lea, ʻoka mou ka ʻalu mei he fale pe ko e kolo ko ia, mou tūtuuʻi ʻae efu mei homou vaʻe.
If no one welcomes you, or listens to what you say, as you leave that house or that town, shake off its dust from your feet.
15 ‌ʻOku ou tala moʻoni kiate kimoutolu, ʻE kātakingofua ʻae fonua ko Sotoma mo Komola ʻi he ʻaho fakamaau, ʻi he kolo ko ia.
I tell you, the doom of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah will be more bearable in the day of judgment than the doom of that town.
16 “Vakai, ʻoku ou fekau atu ʻakimoutolu ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fanga ulofi: ko ia ke mou poto ʻo hangē ko e ngata, pea angalelei ʻo hangē ko e lupe.
“Remember, I am sending you out as my messengers like sheep among wolves. So be as wise as snakes, and as blameless as doves.
17 Kae vakai ki he kakai: he te nau tukuange ʻakimoutolu ki he kau fakamaau, pea te nau haha ʻakimoutolu ʻi honau ngaahi falelotu;
Be on your guard against others, for they will betray you to courts of law, and scourge you in their synagogues;
18 Pea ʻe taki ʻakimoutolu ki he ʻao ʻoe kau pule mo e ngaahi tuʻi koeʻuhi ko au, ko e fakamoʻoni kiate kinautolu mo e Senitaile.
and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake so that you may witness for me before them and the nations.
19 Pea ka nau ka tuku atu ʻakimoutolu, ʻoua naʻa mou feinga pe fēfē pe ko e hā te mou lea ʻaki: koeʻuhi ʻe foaki kiate kimoutolu ʻi he feituʻulaʻā ko ia, ʻaia te mou lea ʻaki.
Whenever they betray you, do not be anxious as to how you will speak or what you will say, for what you will say will be given you at the moment;
20 He ʻoku ʻikai ko kimoutolu ʻoku lea, ka ko e Laumālie ʻo hoʻomou Tamai ʻoku lea ʻiate kimoutolu.
for it will not be you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaks within you.
21 “Pea ʻe tuku atu ʻe he tangata [hono ]tokoua ki he mate, mo e tamai ʻene tamasiʻi: pea ʻe tuʻu hake ʻae fānau ki he mātuʻa, ʻo pule ke mate ʻakinautolu.
Brother will betray brother to death, and the father his child; and children will turn against their parents, and cause them to be put to death;
22 Pea ʻe fehiʻanekina ʻakimoutolu ʻi he kakai kotoa pē koeʻuhi ko hoku hingoa: ka ko ia ʻe kātaki ʻo aʻu ki he ngataʻanga ʻe moʻui ia.
and you will be hated by everyone because of me. Yet the person who endures to the end will be saved.
23 Pea ka nau ka fakatanga ʻakimoutolu ʻi ha kolo, mou feholaki ki ha [kolo ]kehe; he ʻoku ou tala moʻoni atu kiate kimoutolu, ʻE teʻeki ai te mou ʻosiki ʻae ngaahi kolo ʻo ʻIsileli [ʻi hoʻomou ʻalu, ]ka kuo hoko mai ʻae Foha ʻoe tangata.
But, when they persecute you in one town, escape to the next; for, I tell you, you will not have come to the end of the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24 “ʻOku ʻikai lahi hake ʻae ākonga ʻi [heʻene ]akonaki, pe ko e tamaioʻeiki ʻi heʻene ʻeiki.
A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
25 ‌ʻOku lahi ki he ākonga ke na tatau mo ʻene akonaki, pea mo e tamaioʻeiki mo ʻene ʻeiki. Kapau kuo nau ui ʻae ʻeiki ʻoe fale ko Pelisipupe, ʻikai ʻe lahi hake kiate kinautolu ʻi hono fale?
It is enough for a student to be treated like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!
26 Ko ia ʻoua naʻa manavahē kiate kinautolu: he ʻoku ʻikai ha meʻa ʻoku ʻufiʻufi ʻe taʻefakahā; pea fufū, ʻe taʻeʻiloa.
Do not, therefore, be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed which will not be revealed, nor anything hidden which will not become known.
27 “Ko ia ʻoku ou tala kiate kimoutolu ʻi he poʻuli, mou lea ʻaki ia ʻi he maama: pea ko ia ʻoku mou ongoʻi ʻi he telinga, mou malangaʻaki ia ʻi he tuʻa fale.
What I tell you in the dark, say again in the light; and what is whispered in your ear, proclaim on the housetops.
28 Pea ʻoua naʻa manavahē kiate kinautolu ʻoku tāmateʻi ʻae sino, ka ʻoku ʻikai faʻa tāmateʻi ʻae laumālie: kae manavahē muʻa kiate ia ʻoku mafai ke fakaʻauha ʻae laumālie mo e sino ʻi heli. (Geenna g1067)
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
29 ‌ʻIkai ʻoku fakatau ʻae hikiʻi manupuna ʻe ua ʻaki ʻae paʻanga siʻi ʻe taha? Ka ʻe ʻikai haʻana taha ʻe tō ki he kelekele ka ʻi [he loto ʻo ]hoʻomou Tamai.
Are not two sparrows sold for a one copper coin? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
30 Ka ko e ngaahi tuʻoni louʻulu ʻo homou ʻulu kuo lau kotoa pē.
While as for you, even the hairs of your head are numbered.
31 Ko ia ke ʻoua naʻa mou manavahē, [he ]ʻoku mou mahuʻinga lahi ʻi he fanga hikiʻi manu lahi.
Do not, therefore, be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.
32 “Pea ko ia ia ʻe fakahā au ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai, te u fakahā foki ia ʻi he ʻao ʻo ʻeku Tamai ʻoku ʻi he langi.
Everyone, therefore, who will publicly acknowledge me, I, too, will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven;
33 Ka ko ia te ne liʻaki au ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai, te u liʻaki foki ia ʻi he ʻao ʻo ʻeku Tamai ʻoku ʻi he langi.
but, if anyone publicly disowns me, I, too, will disown him before my Father who is in heaven.
34 “ʻOua naʻa mou mahalo kuo u haʻu ke ʻomi ʻae melino ki māmani: naʻe ʻikai te u haʻu ke ʻomi ʻae melino, ka ko e heletā.
“Do not imagine that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have come to bring, not peace, but the sword.
35 He kuo u haʻu ke ‘fakafehiʻa ʻae tangata ki heʻene tamai, mo e taʻahine ki heʻene faʻē, mo e taʻahine ʻi he fono ki heʻene faʻē ʻi he fono.’
For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
36 Pea ‘ko e fili ʻoe tangata ʻakinautolu ʻoku nofo mo ia ʻi hono fale.’
A person’s enemies will be the members of their own household.
37 Ko ia ʻoku ʻofa lahi hake ki he tamai pe ko e faʻē ʻiate au, ʻoku ʻikai taau mo ia ke ne maʻu au: pea ko ia ʻoku ʻofa lahi hake ki [hono ]foha pe ʻofefine ʻiate au, ʻoku ʻikai taau mo ia ke ne maʻu au.
Anyone who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 Pea ko ia ʻoku ʻikai toʻo hake ʻene ʻakau māfasia ʻo muimui ʻiate au, ʻoku ʻikai taau mo ia ke ne maʻu au.
Anyone who does not take their cross and follow in my steps is not worthy of me.
39 Ko ia ʻoku kalofaki ʻene moʻui, ʻe mole ia ʻiate ia: ka ko ia ʻoku mole ʻene moʻui koeʻuhi ko au, ʻe maʻu ʻe ia ia.
The person who has found their life will lose it, while the person who, for my sake, has lost their life will find it.
40 “Ko ia ʻoku ne maʻu ʻakimoutolu ʻoku ne maʻu au, pea ko ia ʻoku ne maʻu au ʻoku ne maʻu ʻaia naʻa ne fekau au.
“Anyone who welcomes you is welcoming me; and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming him who sent me as his messenger.
41 Ko ia ʻoku ne maʻu ha palōfita ʻi he hingoa ʻoe palōfita, ʻe maʻu ʻe ia ʻae totongi ʻoe palōfita; pea ko ia ʻoku ne maʻu ʻae tangata māʻoniʻoni ʻi he hingoa ʻoe tangata māʻoniʻoni, ʻe maʻu ʻe ia ʻae totongi ʻoe tangata māʻoniʻoni.
The person who welcomes a prophet, because they are a prophet, will receive a prophet’s reward; and anyone who welcomes a good person, because they are a good person, will receive a good person’s reward.
42 Pea ko ia te ne foaki ki ha taha ʻiate kinautolu ni ʻoku siʻi ha ipu vai momoko ke inu ai, ʻi he hingoa pe ʻoe ākonga, ko ʻeku tala moʻoni atu kiate kimoutolu, ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito mole ʻiate ia hono totongi.”
And, if anyone gives but a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because they are a disciple, I tell you that they will assuredly not lose their reward.”
