< Selemaia 41 >

1 Naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi hono fitu māhina, naʻe haʻu ʻa ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania ko e foha ʻo ʻIlisama, ko e hako ʻoe hau, pea mo e houʻeiki ʻoe tuʻi, ʻaia mo e kau tangata ʻe toko hongofulu mo ia, kia Ketalia ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami ki Misipa; pea naʻa nau kai mā fakataha ʻi Misipa.
The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord (now Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the country of his dominion, were warring against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Juda, ) saying,
2 Pea tuʻu hake ʻa ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania, mo e kau tangata ʻe toko hongofulu naʻe ʻiate ia, pea nau taaʻi aki ʻae heletā ʻa Ketalia ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami ko e foha ʻo Safani, pea tāmateʻi ia, ʻaia naʻe fakanofo ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone ke pule ki he fonua.
Thus has the Lord said; Go to Sedekias king of Juda, and you shall say to him, Thus has the Lord said, This city shall certainly be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it, and shall burn it with fire:
3 Pea naʻe tāmateʻi foki ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ʻae kau Siu kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, ʻaia naʻe ia Ketalia, ʻi Misipa, pea mo e kau Kalitia naʻe ʻi ai, pea mo e kautau.
and you shall not escape out of his hand, but shall certainly be taken, and shall be given into his hands; and your eyes shall see his eyes, and you shall enter into Babylon.
4 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi hono ua ʻoe ʻaho ʻi he hili ʻae tāmateʻi ʻo Ketalia, ʻi he teʻeki ke ʻilo ia ʻe ha tokotaha,
But hear the word of the Lord, O Sedekias king of Juda; Thus says the Lord,
5 Naʻe haʻu ʻae kau tangata mei Sikemi, pea mei Sailo, pea mei Samelia, ko e toko valungofulu kuo tele honau kava, pea kuo mahaehae honau kofu, pea foa ʻakinautolu, pea naʻe ʻi honau nima ʻae feilaulau mo e meʻa namu kakala, ke ʻomi ki he fale ʻo Sihova.
You shall die in peace: and as they wept for your fathers that reigned before you, they shall weep also for you, [saying], Ah lord! and they shall lament for you down to the grave: for I have spoken the word, said the Lord.
6 Pea naʻe ʻalu atu ʻa ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania mei Misipa ke fakafetaulaki mo kinautolu, pea naʻe tangi maʻu pe ia ʻi heʻene ʻalu: pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi heʻene fetaulaki mo kinautolu naʻa ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “Mou omi kia Ketalia ko e foha ʻAhikami,”
And Jeremias spoke to king Sedekias all these words in Jerusalem.
7 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi heʻenau haʻu ki loto kolo, naʻe tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu ʻo lī ki he luo, ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania, ko ia, mo e kau tangata naʻe ʻiate ia.
And the host of the king of Babylon warred against Jerusalem, and against the cities of Juda, and against Lachis, and against Azeca: for these strong cities were left amongst the cities of Juda.
The word that came from the Lord to Jeremias, after king Sedekias had concluded a covenant with the people, to proclaim a release;
9 Pea ko e luo, ʻaia naʻe lī ki ai ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ʻae ʻangaʻanga ʻoe kau tangata, naʻa ne tāmateʻi fakataha mo Ketalia, ko ia pe naʻe ngaohi ʻe he tuʻi ko ʻAsa, ko ʻene manavahē kia Paʻasa ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli; pea ko ia, naʻe fakapito aki ia ʻae kakai kuo tāmateʻi, ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania.
That every one should set at liberty his servant, and every one has handmaid, the Hebrew man and Hebrew woman, that no man of Juda should be a bondman.
10 Pea naʻe fakapōpula ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ʻae toenga kakai kotoa pē naʻe ʻi Misipa, ʻae ʻofefine ʻoe tuʻi, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē naʻe toe ʻi Misipa, ʻakinautolu naʻe fakanofo ʻe Nepusaatani ko e ʻeiki ʻoe kau tau ke pule ki ai ʻa Ketalia, ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami: pea naʻe ʻave fakapōpula ʻakinautolu ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania, pea naʻe ʻalu atu ia ki he kau ʻAmoni.
Then all the nobles, and all the people who had entered into the covenant, [engaging] to set free every one his man-servant, and every one his maid, turned,
11 Pea kuo fanongo ʻa Sohanani, ko e foha ʻo Kalia, pea mo e houʻeikitau kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, ki he kovi kotoa pē kuo fai ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania,
and gave them over to be menservants and maidservants.
12 Naʻa nau ʻave ʻae kau tangata kotoa pē, ʻonau ō ke tauʻi ʻa ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania, pea naʻe ʻilo ia ʻi he kauvai lahi ʻaia ʻoku ʻi Kipione.
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying,
13 Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he mamata ʻe he kakai kotoa pē naʻe ʻia ʻIsimeʻeli ʻa Sohanani ko e foha ʻo Kalia, pea mo e houʻeikitau kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, naʻa nau fiefia.
Thus says the Lord; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day wherein I took them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying,
14 Pea ko e kakai kotoa pē naʻe ʻave fakapōpula ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli mei Misipa, naʻa nau tafoki mai ʻo toe haʻu kia Sohanani ko e foha ʻo Kalia.
When six years are accomplished, you shall set free your brother the Hebrew, who shall be sold to you: for he shall serve you six years, and [then] you shall let him go free: but they listened not to me, and inclined not their ear.
15 Ka naʻe hola meia Sohanani ʻa ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania mo e kau tangata ʻe toko valu, ʻo ʻalu ki he kau ʻAmoni.
And this day they turned to do that which was right in my sight, to proclaim every one the release of his neighbour; and they had concluded a covenant before me, in the house whereon my name is called.
16 Pea hili hono tāmateʻi ʻa Ketalia ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami, naʻe toki ʻave ʻe Sopanani ko e foha ʻo Kalia, ʻae houʻeikitau kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, pea mo e toenga kakai kotoa pē ʻaia naʻe toe maʻu meia ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania, mei Misipa, ko e kau tau mālohi, mo e kau fefine, mo e fānau, pea mo e kau tangata talifekau ʻaia kuo toe omi mei Kipione:
But you turned and profaned my name, to bring back every one his servant, and every one his handmaid, whom you had sent forth free [and] at their own disposal, to be to you menservants and maidservants.
17 Pea naʻa nau ʻalu, ʻo nofo ʻi he potu ʻo Kimami, ʻaia ʻoku ofi ki Petelihema, koeʻuhi ke ʻalu ki ʻIsipite,
Therefore thus said the Lord; You have not listened to me, to proclaim a release every one to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a release to you, to the sword, and to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will give you up to dispersion [amongst] all the kingdoms of the earth.
18 Koeʻuhi ko e kau Kalitia: he naʻa nau manavahē kiate kinautolu, koeʻuhi kuo tāmateʻi ʻe ʻIsimeʻeli ko e foha ʻo Natania ʻa Ketalia ko e foha ʻo ʻAhikami, ʻaia kuo fakanofo ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone ke pule ʻi he fonua.
And I will give the men that have transgressed my covenant, who have not kept my covenant, which they made before me, the calf which they prepared to sacrifice with it,
the princes of Juda, and the men in power, and the priests, and the people;
I will even give them to their enemies, and their carcases shall be food for the birds of the sky and for the wild beasts of the earth.
And I will give Sedekias king of Judea, and their princes, into the hands of their enemies, and the host of the king of Babylon [shall come upon] them that run away from them.
Behold, I [will] give command, says the Lord, and will bring them back to this land; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire, and the cities of Juda; and I will make them desolate without inhabitants.
