< Selemaia 11 >

1 Ko e folofola naʻe hoko kia Selemaia meia Sihova, ʻo pehē,
The word that came to Jeremias from the Lord, saying,
2 “Mou fanongo ki he ngaahi lea ʻoe fuakava ni, pea ke lea ki he kau tangata ʻo Siuta, pea mo e kakai ʻo Selūsalema;
Hear you the words of this covenant, and you shall speak to the men of Juda, and to the dwellers in Jerusalem;
3 Pea ke pehē kiate kinautolu, ʻoku pehē mai ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; ‘ʻE malaʻia ʻae tangata ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai talangofua ki he ngaahi lea ʻoe fuakava ni,
and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, Cursed is the man, who shall not listen to the words of this covenant,
4 ‌ʻAia naʻaku fekau ki hoʻomou ngaahi tamai ʻi he ʻaho naʻaku ʻomi ai ʻakinautolu mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite, mei he tutuʻanga ukamea,’ ʻo pehē, ‘Mou talangofua ki hoku leʻo, pea fai ʻo hangē ko e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ou fekau kiate kimoutolu: ko ia te mou hoko ai ko hoku kakai, pea te u hoko ko homou ʻOtua:
which I commanded your fathers, in the day wherein I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Listen to my voice, and do all things that I shall command you; so shall you be to me a people, and I will be to you a God;
5 Koeʻuhi ke u fakamoʻoni ʻae fuakava ʻaia naʻaku fuakava ʻaki ki hoʻomou ngaahi tamai, ke foaki kiate kinautolu ʻae fonua ʻoku mahu ʻi he huʻahuhu mo e honi, ʻo hangē ko ia he ʻaho ni.” Pea ne u toki lea, ʻo pehē, “Ke pehē pe, ʻE Sihova.”
that I may confirm mine oath, which I sware to your fathers, to give them a land flowing [with] milk and honey, as [it is] this day. Then I answered and said, So be it, O Lord.
6 Pea naʻe toki pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “Ke ke fakahā ʻae ngaahi lea ni kotoa ki he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta, mo e ngaahi hala ʻi Selūsalema, ʻo pehē, Mou fanongo ki he ngaahi lea ʻoe fuakava ni, pea fai ki ai.
And the Lord said to me, Read these words in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear you the words of this covenant, and do them.
But they did [them] not.
9 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “ʻOku ʻi he kakai ʻo Siuta mo e kau nofoʻanga ʻo Selūsalema ʻae puleaki.
And the Lord said to me, A conspiracy is found amongst the men of Juda, and amongst the dwellers in Jerusalem.
10 Kuo nau foki ki mui ki he hia ʻo ʻenau mātuʻa ʻi muʻa, ʻakinautolu naʻe ʻikai te nau tokanga ki heʻeku lea; pea naʻa nau muimui ki he ngaahi ʻotua kehe mo tauhi ki ai: kuo maumauʻi ʻeku fuakava ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli mo e fale ʻo Siuta ʻaia ne u fai mo ʻenau ngaahi tamai.
They are turned [aside] to the iniquities of their fathers that were of old, who would not listen to my words: and, behold, they go after strange gods, to serve them: and the house of Israel and the house of Juda have broken my covenant, which I made with their fathers.
11 “Ko ia, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ‘Vakai, te u ʻomi ʻae kovi kiate kinautolu, ʻaia ʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa hao mei ai; pea kapau te nau tangi kiate au, ʻe ʻikai te u fanongo kiate kinautolu.
Therefore thus says the Lord, Behold, I bring evils upon this people, out of which they shall not be able to come forth; and they shall presently cry to me, but I will not listen to them.
And the cities of Juda and the dwellers in Jerusalem shall go, and cry to the gods to whom they burn incense; which shall not deliver them in the time of their troubles.
13 He ʻoku hangē ko hono tokolahi ʻo ho ngaahi kolo, ʻoku pehē hono tokolahi ʻo ho ngaahi ʻotua, ʻE Siuta; pea hangē ko e lau ʻoe ngaahi hala ʻi Selūsalema kuo mou fokotuʻu ʻae feilaulauʻanga ki he meʻa fakamā, ʻio ʻae ngaahi feilaulauʻanga ke tutu ai ʻae meʻa namu kakala kia Peali.’
For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Juda; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have you set up altars to burn incense to Baal.
14 “Ko ia ʻoua te ke hūfia ʻae kakai ni; pe hiki hake ha tangi pe hū koeʻuhi ko kinautolu: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u fanongo kiate kinautolu ʻi he ʻaho te nau tangi ai kiate au ʻi heʻenau mamahi.
And you, pray not for this people, and intercede not for them in supplication and prayer: for I will not hear in the day in which they call upon me, in the day of their affliction.
15 Ko e hā ʻoku kei nofo ai ʻa hoku ʻofaʻanga ʻi hoku fale, ka kuo fai kovi ia mo e tokolahi? ʻE maʻu meiate koe ʻae fuakava mo e kakano māʻoniʻoni? ʻI hoʻo fai meʻa kovi naʻa ke fiefia ai.
Why has [my] beloved wrought abomination in my house? will prayers and holy offerings take away your wickedness from you, or shall you escape by these things?
16 Pea naʻe ui ho hingoa ʻe Sihova, “Ko e ʻolive mata, ʻoku matamatalelei, pea fua lelei:” kuo ne tutu ʻaki ia ʻae afi ʻi he longoaʻa lahi, pea kuo vela hono ngaahi vaʻa.
The Lord called your name a fair olive tree, of a goodly shade in appearance, at the noise of its being lopped, fire was kindled against it; great is the affliction [coming] upon you: her branches are become good for nothing.
17 He ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻaia naʻa ne tō koe, kuo ne fakahā kiate koe ʻae kovi, koeʻuhi ko e kovi ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pea mo e fale ʻo Siuta, ʻaia kuo nau fai ke fakahouhau ʻaki au ʻi heʻenau feilaulau ʻaki ʻae meʻa namu kakala kia Peali.”
And the Lord that planted you has pronounced evils against you, because of the iniquity of the house of Israel and the house of Juda, whatever they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger by burning incense to Baal.
18 Pea kuo fakaʻilo ia kiate au ʻe Sihova, pea ʻoku ou ʻilo ia: pea naʻa ke fakahā kiate au ʻenau ngaahi faianga.
O Lord, teach me, and I shall know: then I saw their practices.
19 Ka naʻaku hangē ko e lami pe ha pulu ʻaia ʻoku ʻomi ke tāmateʻi; pea naʻe ʻikai te u ʻiloʻi kuo nau fakakaukau ʻae tauhele kiate au, ʻo pehē, “Ke tau fakaʻauha ʻae ʻakau mo hono fua, pea ke tau tuʻusi ia mei he fonua ʻoe moʻui, ke ʻoua naʻa toe manatuʻi ʻa hono hingoa.”
But I as an innocent lamb led to the slaughter, knew not: against me they devised an evil device, saying, Come and let us put wood into his bread, and let us utterly destroy him from off the land of the living, and let his name not be remembered any more.
20 Ka ko koe, ʻE Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻa koe ʻoku ke fakamaau totonu, mo hakule ʻae ngaahi holi mo e loto, tuku ke u mamata ki ho houhau kiate kinautolu: he kuo u fakahā ʻeku meʻa kiate koe.”
O Lord, that judge righteously, trying the reins and hearts, let me see your vengeance [taken] upon them, for to you I have declared my cause.
21 “Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ki he kau tangata ʻo ʻAnatoti, ʻakinautolu ʻoku kumi hoʻo moʻui, ʻonau pehē, ‘ʻOua te ke kikite ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova, telia naʻa ke mate koe ʻi homau nima:’
Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek my life, that say, You shall not prophesy at all in the name of the Lord, but if you do, you shall die by our hands:
22 Ko ia ʻoku pehē mai ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ‘Vakai, te u tautea ʻakinautolu: ʻe mate honau kau talavou ʻi he heletā; pea ʻe mate honau ngaahi foha, mo honau ngaahi ʻofefine ʻi he honge:
behold, I will visit them: their young men shall die by the sword; and their sons and their daughters shall die of famine:
23 Pea ʻe ʻikai kei toe ha kakai ʻiate kinautolu: he te u ʻomi ʻae kovi ki he kakai ʻo ʻAnatoti, ʻio, ko e taʻu ʻoe ʻaʻahi kiate kinautolu.’”
and there shall be no remnant [left] of them; for I will bring evil upon the dwellers in Anathoth, in the year of their visitation.
