< ʻIsaia 14 >

And the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and they shall rest on their land: and the stranger shall be added to them, yes, shall be added to the house of Jacob.
2 Pea ʻe tataki ʻakinautolu ʻe he kakai, ʻo ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki honau potu: pea ʻe maʻu ʻakinautolu ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi he fonua ʻo Sihova ko e kau tamaioʻeiki mo e kau kaunanga: pea te nau fakapōpulaʻi ʻakinautolu, naʻa nau pōpula ki ai; pea te nau puleʻi ʻakinautolu naʻe fakamālohiʻi ʻakinautolu.
And the Gentiles shall take them, and bring them into their place: and they shall inherit them, and they shall be multiplied upon the land for servants and handmaidens: and they that took them captives shall become captives [to them]; and they that had lordship over them shall be under [their] rule.
3 Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe foaki kiate koe ʻae mālōlō mei hoʻo mamahi, mo hoʻo manavahē, pea mei he pōpula mamahi ʻaia naʻa mou moʻulaloa ki ai.
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall give you rest from your sorrow and vexation, [and from] your hard servitude wherein you did serve them.
4 Te ke toʻo hake ʻae lea mamafa ni ki he tuʻi ʻo Papilone, ʻo pehē, “Hono ʻikai kuo siʻaki ʻaia naʻe pule fakamālohi! hono ʻikai kuo siʻaki ʻae kolo naʻe faʻa kumi koula!
And you shall take up this lamentation against the king of Babylon, How has the extortioner ceased, and the taskmaster ceased!
5 Kuo fesiʻi ʻe Sihova ʻae tokotoko ʻoe angakovi, pea mo e fakaʻilonga ʻoe kau pule.
The Lord has broken the yoke of sinners, the yoke of princes.
6 Ko ia naʻe taaʻi ʻae kakai ʻi he tuputāmaki ʻaki ʻae tautea taʻetuku, ko ia naʻe puleʻi ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ʻi he ʻita, kuo fakatangaʻi ia, pea ʻoku ʻikai taʻofi ʻe ha taha.
Having struck a nation in wrath, with an incurable plague, striking a nation with a wrathful plague, which spared [them] not, he rested in quiet.
7 ‌ʻOku mālōlō ʻa māmani kotoa pē, pea fiemālie: ʻoku nau kamata hiva fiefia.
All the earth cries aloud with joy:
8 ‌ʻIo, ʻoku fiefia ʻiate koe ʻae ngaahi ʻakau ko e paini, pea mo e ngaahi sita ʻo Lepanoni, ʻonau pehē, Talu hoʻo tō ki lalo koe, kuo ʻikai haʻu kiate kimautolu ha tangata taʻanga.
the trees also of Libanus rejoice against you, and the cedar of Libanus, [saying], From the time that you have been laid low, no one has come up to cut us down.
9 ‌ʻOku ngaue ʻa hētesi mei lalo maʻau ke fakafetaulaki kiate koe ʻi ho haʻu: ʻoku ne ueʻi ʻae mate maʻau, ʻio, ʻae kau tuʻu ki muʻa kotoa pē ʻo māmani; kuo ne fokotuʻu mei honau nofoʻanga ʻae ngaahi tuʻi kotoa pē ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga. (Sheol h7585)
Hell from beneath is provoked to meet you: all the great ones that have ruled over the earth have risen up together against you, they that have raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
10 ‌ʻE lea ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻo pehē kiate koe, “Kuo ke hoko ʻo vaivai ʻo hangē ko kimautolu ni? Kuo ke hoko ʻo tatau mo kimautolu ni?”
All shall answer and say to you, You also have been taken, even as we; and you are numbered amongst us.
11 Kuo fakahifo hoʻo laukau ki he faʻitoka, pea mo e longoaʻa ʻo hoʻo ngaahi meʻa lea: kuo fofola ʻi lalo ʻiate koe ʻae fanga kelemutu, pea kafu ʻaki koe ʻae fanga kelemutu. (Sheol h7585)
Your glory has come down to Hades, and your great mirth: under you they shall spread corruption, and the worm shall be your covering. (Sheol h7585)
12 “ʻE Lusifā, ko e foha ʻoe pongipongi! Hono ʻikai tō hifo koe mei he langi! Hono ʻikai tuʻusi ki lalo koe ki he kelekele, ʻa koe ne ke fakavaivaiʻi ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga!”
How has Lucifer, that rose in the morning, fallen from heaven! He that sent [orders] to all the nations is crushed to the earth.
13 He naʻa ke pehē ʻi ho loto, “Te u ʻalu hake ki he langi, te u fokotuʻu ke māʻolunga hake ʻa hoku nofoʻanga ʻi he ngaahi fetuʻu ʻoe ʻOtua: pea te u nofo ʻi he moʻunga ʻoe fakatahaʻanga, ʻi he ngaahi potu tokelau:
But you said in your heart, I will go up to heaven, I will set my throne above the stars of heaven: I will sit on a lofty mount, on the lofty mountains towards the north:
14 Te u ʻalu hake ke māʻolunga ʻi he ngaahi ʻao; te u tatau mo ia ʻoku māʻolunga taha pe.”
I will go up above the clouds: I will be like the Most High.
15 “Ka e hifo koe ki lalo ki he faʻitoka, ki he kaokao ʻoe luo. (Sheol h7585)
But now you shall go down to hell, even to the foundations of the earth. (Sheol h7585)
16 Ko kinautolu ʻe mamata kiate koe te nau sio fakamamaʻu kiate koe, pea fakalaulauloto kiate koe, ʻo pehē, ‘Ko e tangata koā eni naʻe ngaohi ke tetetete ai ʻa māmani, ʻaia naʻe lulululu ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga;
They that see you shall wonder at you, and say, This is the man that troubled the earth, that made kings to shake;
that made the whole world desolate, and destroyed its cities; he loosed not those who were in captivity.
18 ‌ʻOku takoto ʻi he nāunau ʻae tuʻi kotoa pē ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga, ʻio, ʻakinautolu kotoa pē, taki taha ʻi hono fale.
All the kings of the nations lie in honour, [every] man in his house.
19 Ka kuo lī koe mei ho fonualoto ʻo hangē ko e vaʻa fakalielia, pea hangē ko e kofu ʻokinautolu kuo tāmateʻi, ʻaia kuo hokaʻi ʻaki ʻae heletā, ʻaia ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he ngaahi maka ʻoe luo; pea hangē ko e ʻangaʻanga kuo malamalaki ʻi he lalo vaʻe.
But you shall be cast forth on the mountains, as a loathed carcase, with many dead who have been pierced with swords, going down to the grave.
20 ‌ʻE ʻikai fai fakataha ho tanu mo kinautolu, koeʻuhi kuo ke fakaʻauha ho fonua, pea tāmateʻi mo hoʻo kakai: ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito ongoongolelei ʻae hako ʻoe fai meʻa kovi.
As a garment defiled with blood shall not be pure, so neither shall you be pure; because you have destroyed my land, and have slain my people: you shall not endure for ever, —[you] an evil seed.
21 Teuʻi ʻae fakapō ki heʻene fānau koeʻuhi ko e hia ʻa ʻenau ngaahi tamai; ke ʻoua naʻa nau tuʻu hake, pe maʻu ʻae fonua, pe ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae funga ʻo māmani ʻae ngaahi kolo.
Prepare your children to be slain for the sins of their father; that they arise not, and inherit the earth, nor fill the earth with wars.
22 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Te u tuʻu hake kiate kinautolu, pea tuʻusi mei Papilone ʻae hingoa, mo hono toenga [kakai], mo e foha, pea mo e fānau ʻa hono foha, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
And I will rise up against them, says the Lord of hosts, and I will destroy their name, and remnant, and seed: thus says the Lord.
23 ‌ʻOku pehē foki ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, Te u ngaohi ia ko e potu ʻoe pitani, mo e ngaahi luo vai; pea te u tafi kituʻaniu ia ʻaki ʻae meʻa tafi ʻoe fakaʻauha.”
And I will make the region of Babylon desert, so that hedgehogs shall dwell [there], and it shall come to nothing: and I will make it a pit of clay for destruction.
24 Kuo fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ʻo pehē, “Ko e moʻoni ʻe hoko ʻo hangē ko ia kuo u fifili ki ai, pea hangē ko ia kuo u tuʻutuʻuni, ko ia pe ʻe tuʻu maʻu:
Thus says the Lord of hosts, As I have said, so it shall be: and as I have purposed, so [the matter] shall remain:
25 Ke u laiki ʻae tangata ʻAsilia ʻi hoku fonua pea te u malaki hifo ia ʻi hoku ngaahi moʻunga: pea ʻe toki mahuʻi ʻiate kinautolu ʻa ʻene haʻamonga, pea hiki mo ʻene kavenga mei honau uma.
[even] to destroy the Assyrians upon my land, and upon my mountains: and they shall be for trampling; and their yoke shall be taken away from them, and their glory shall be taken away from their shoulders.
26 Ko eni ʻae meʻa kuo tuʻutuʻuni ki māmani kotoa pē: pea ko eni ʻae nima kuo mafao atu ki he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē.”
This is the purpose which the Lord has purposed upon the whole earth: and this the hand that is uplifted against all the nations.
27 He kuo finangalo ki ai ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, pea ko hai te ne taʻofi ia? Pea kuo mafao atu hono nima, pea ko hai te ne fakafoki ia?
For what the Holy God has purposed, who shall frustrate? and who shall turn back his uplifted hand?
28 ‌ʻI he taʻu naʻe pekia ai ʻae tuʻi ko ʻAhasi naʻe fakahā ʻae tala mamafa ni.
In the year in which king Achaz died this word came.
29 “ʻOua naʻa ke fiefia, ʻe Filisitia kotoa, koeʻuhi kuo fesiʻi ʻae meʻa tā ʻo ia naʻa ne taaʻi koe: koeʻuhi ʻe tupu mai mei he tefito ʻoe ngata ʻae ngata fekai lahi, pea ko hono fua ʻo ia ko e ngata vela ʻoku puna.
Rejoice not, all you Philistines, because the yoke of him that struck you is broken: for out of the seed of the serpent shall come forth the young asps, and their young shall come forth flying serpents,
30 Pea ʻe mākona ʻae ʻuluaki fānau ʻae paea, pea ʻe tokoto ʻi he fiemālie ʻae masiva: pea te u tāmateʻi ho tefito ʻaki ʻae honge, pea te ne taaʻi ho toenga[kakai].
And the poor shall be fed by him, and poor men shall rest in peace: but he shall destroy your seed with hunger, and shall destroy your remnant.
31 Tangi, ʻae matapā, tāngiloa, ʻae kolo; ʻa koe, ko Filisitia kotoa, kuo mole ʻi he manavahē: koeʻuhi ʻe haʻu mei he tokelau ʻae ʻohuafi, pea ʻe ʻikai he ha tokotaha ʻi heʻene ngaahi kautau.
Howl, you gates of cities; let the cities be troubled and cry, [even] all the Philistines: for smoke is coming from the north, and there is no [possibility] of living.
32 Pea ko e hā ha lea ʻe tali ʻaki ʻe ha tokotaha ki he kau talafekau mei he puleʻanga? ʻA eni, Kuo langa hake ʻe Sihova ʻa Saione, pea ʻe falala ki ai ʻae kau masiva ʻa hono kakai.”
And what shall the kings of the nations answer? That the Lord has founded Sion, and by him the poor of the people shall be saved.
