2 Timote 3

1 Pea ke ʻilo ʻae meʻa ni foki, ʻe hoko ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho fakamui ʻae kuonga fakatuʻutāmaki.

Be sure of this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

2 Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻofa ʻae kau tangata kiate kinautolu pe, ʻo manumanu, mo polepole, mo laukau, mo lea kovi, mo talangataʻa ki he mātuʻa, mo taʻefakafetaʻi, mo taʻemāʻoniʻoni,

People will be selfish, mercenary, boastful, haughty, and blasphemous; disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, impure,

3 ‌ʻO taʻemaʻu ʻae ʻofa ʻoku ngali mo e kāinga, ʻo liʻaki ʻae lea fakapapau, ko e kau lohiaki, ko e kau holi kovi, ko e kau anga mālohi, ko e kau manuki kiate kinautolu ʻoku lelei,

incapable of affection, merciless, slanderous, wanting in self-control, brutal, careless of the right,

4 Ko e kau lavaki, ʻo anga ʻohonoa, mo loto fielahi, ko e kau ʻofa lahi hake ki he ngaahi mālie fakamaama, ʻi heʻenau ʻofa ki he ʻOtua;

treacherous, reckless, and puffed up with pride; they will love pleasure more than they love God;

5 ‌ʻOku nau maʻu hono ngeʻesi ʻoe lotu, ka ʻoku nau liʻaki ʻa hono mālohi: ke ke afe mei he kakai pehē.

and while they retain the outward form of religion, they will not allow it to influence them. Turn your back on such people as these.

6 Pea ʻoku mei he kakai pehē ʻakinautolu ʻoku ngaolo ki he ngaahi fale, ʻo taki pōpula ʻae kau fefine fakavalevale ʻoku ʻefi ʻi he hia, kuo takiekina ʻe he ngaahi holi kehekehe,

For among them are to be found those who creep into homes and captivate weak women – women who, loaded with sins, and slaves to all kinds of passions,

7 ‌ʻOku nau ako maʻuaipē, ka ʻoku ʻikai siʻi te nau lavaʻi ʻae ʻilo ʻoe moʻoni.

are always learning, and yet never able to attain to a real knowledge of the truth.

8 Kae hangē ko e tuʻu ʻa Sani mo Samepi kia Mōsese, ʻoku pehē ʻae tuʻu foki ʻakinautolu ni ki he moʻoni: ko e kau tangata loto kovi, pea taʻemoʻoni ki he tui.

Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these people, in their turn, oppose the truth. Their minds are corrupted, and, as regards the faith, they are utterly worthless.

9 Ka ko eni, ʻe ʻikai te nau fai maʻuaipē: koeʻuhi ʻe hā atu ʻenau vale ki he kakai kotoa pē, ʻo hangē foki ko e [vale ]ʻanaua.

They will not, however, make further progress; for their wicked folly will be plain to everyone, just as the folly Jannes and Jambres was.

10 Ka kuo ke ʻilo fakapapau ʻeku akonaki, mo e anga ʻo ʻeku moʻui, mo hoku loto, mo e tui, mo e kātaki fuoloa, mo e ʻofa, mo e faʻa ʻūkuma,

But you, Timothy, were a close observer of my teaching, my conduct, my purposes, my faith, my forbearance, my love, and my patient endurance,

11 Mo e ngaahi fakatanga, mo e mamahi, naʻe hoko kiate au ʻi ʻAniteoke, mo ʻIkoniume, mo Lisita; ʻae ngaahi fakatanga naʻaku faʻa kātakiʻi: ka naʻe fakamoʻui au mei ai kotoa pē ʻe he ʻEiki.

as well as of my persecutions, and of the sufferings which I met with at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. You know what persecutions I underwent; and yet the Lord brought me safe out of all!

12 ‌ʻIo, pea ko kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku loto ke moʻui angafakaʻotua kia Kalaisi Sisu, te nau ʻilo ʻae fakatanga.

Yes, and all who aim at living a religious life in union with Christ Jesus will have to suffer persecution;

13 Ka ko e kau tangata angakovi mo e kau fakahala, te nau tupulaki ʻi he kovi ki he kovi, ʻo faʻa kākaaʻi, pea ʻe kākāʻia ʻakinautolu.

but wicked people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceived themselves.

14 Ka ke tuʻumaʻu pē ʻa koe ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ʻaia kuo akonekina ai koe, pea kuo ke ʻilo pau ki ai, ʻo ke ʻilo ʻaia kuo ke maʻu ia mei ai;

You, however, must stand by what you learnt and accepted as true. You know who they were from whom you learnt it;

15 Koeʻuhi ʻoku talu hoʻo kei siʻi, naʻa ke ʻilo ʻae ngaahi tohi māʻoniʻoni, ʻaia ʻoku faʻa fakapoto koe ki he fakamoʻui ʻi he tui ʻaia ʻoku ʻia Kalaisi Sisu.

and that, from your childhood, you have known the sacred writings, which can give you the wisdom that, through belief in Christ Jesus, leads to salvation.

16 ‌ʻOku foaki mai ʻae Tohitapu kotoa pē ʻi he fakamānava ʻae ʻOtua, pea ʻoku ʻaonga ia ki he akonaki, mo e valoki, mo e fakatonutonu, mo e fakapoto ki he māʻoniʻoni:

All scripture is God-breathed: helpful for teaching, for refuting error, for giving guidance, and for training others in righteousness;

17 Koeʻuhi ke haohaoa ʻae tangata ʻoe ʻOtua, pea kakato hono teuteu ki he ngaahi ngaue lelei kotoa pē.

so that God’s people may be capable and equipped for good work of every kind.
