సామెతలు 19

1 ౧ బుద్ధిహీనుడై కుటిలంగా మాట్లాడే వాడి కంటే యథార్థంగా ప్రవర్తించే పేదవాడే గొప్ప.

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity than he that perverse in his lips and is a fool.

2 ౨ ఆలోచన లేకుండా కోరికలుండడం మంచిది కాదు. తొందరపడి పరిగెత్తేవాడు దారి తప్పిపోతాడు.

Also, that the soul be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

3 ౩ ఒకడి మూర్ఖత్వం వాడి బ్రతుకును ధ్వంసం చేస్తుంది. అలాటి వాడు యెహోవా మీద మండిపడతాడు.

The foolishness of man subverteth his way; and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

4 ౪ సంపద స్నేహితులను సమకూరుస్తుంది. దరిద్రుడికి స్నేహితులు దూరమౌతారు.

Wealth addeth many friends: but the poor is separated from his friend.

5 ౫ అబద్ద సాక్షికి శిక్ష తప్పదు. అబద్ధాలాడేవాడు తప్పించుకోలేడు.

A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.

6 ౬ ఉదార గుణం గలవారిని చాలామంది సహాయం కోసం అడుగుతారు. ఇచ్చేవాడికి అందరూ స్నేహితులే.

Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7 ౭ పేదవాణ్ణి అతని బంధువులంతా ఏవగించుకుంటారు. అలాగైతే అతని స్నేహితులు మరింకెంతగా దూరమైపోతారు! వాడు వాళ్ళను పిలుస్తాడు గానీ వాళ్ళక్కడ ఉండరు.

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him! he pursueth [them with] words, [but] they are gone.

8 ౮ బుద్ధి సంపాదించుకొనేవాడు తనకు తాను మేలు చేసుకుంటాడు. అవగాహన కలిగిన వాడు మేలైనదాన్ని కనుగొంటాడు.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 ౯ అబద్ద సాక్షికి శిక్ష తప్పదు. అబద్ధాలాడేవాడు నాశనమౌతాడు.

A false witness shall not be unpunished; and he that uttereth lies shall perish.

10 ౧౦ బుద్ధిహీనుడు సుఖ భోగాలనుభవించడం తగదు. ఒక బానిస రాజులపై ఏలుబడి చేయడం అంతకన్నా తగదు.

Delicate living is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 ౧౧ విచక్షణ ఒక మనిషికి సహనం ఇస్తుంది. తప్పులు చూసీ చూడనట్టు పోవడం అతనికి ఘనత.

The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 ౧౨ రాజు కోపం సింహగర్జన లాంటిది. అతని అనుగ్రహం గడ్డి మీద కురిసే మంచు లాంటిది.

The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

13 ౧౩ మూర్ఖుడైన కొడుకు తన తండ్రికి కీడు తెస్తాడు. గయ్యాళి భార్య ఆగకుండా పడుతూ ఉండే నీటి బిందువులతో సమానం.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

14 ౧౪ ఇల్లు, ధనం పూర్వికులనుండి వారసత్వంగా వస్తుంది. అయితే వివేకవతియైన ఇల్లాలిని ఇచ్చేది యెహోవాయే.

House and riches are an inheritance from fathers: but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

15 ౧౫ సోమరితనం గాఢనిద్రలో పడేస్తుంది. పని చేయడం ఇష్టం లేని వాడు పస్తులుంటాడు.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 ౧౬ ఆజ్ఞ పాటించేవాడు తన ప్రాణం కాపాడుకుంటాడు. తన ప్రవర్తన విషయం జాగ్రత్తగా చూసుకోనివాడు చచ్చిపోతాడు.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul: [but] he that is careless of his ways shall die.

17 ౧౭ పేదలను ఆదుకోవడం అంటే యెహోవాకు అప్పివ్వడమే. ఆయన తప్పకుండా ఆ రుణం తీరుస్తాడు.

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, and his good deed will he pay him again.

18 ౧౮ అనువైన కాలంలోనే నీ కుమారుణ్ణి శిక్షించు. అయితే వాణ్ణి చంపాలని చూడొద్దు.

Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; and set not thy heart on his destruction.

19 ౧౯ పట్టరాని కోపంతో మండిపడే వాడు తప్పకుండా అందుకు తగిన శిక్ష పొందుతాడు. నువ్వు వాణ్ణి తప్పించినా పదే పదే అదే పని నువ్వు చేయవలసి వస్తుంది.

A man of great wrath shall bear the penalty: for if thou deliver [him], thou must do it yet again.

20 ౨౦ సలహా వినిపించుకో, సూచనలను అంగీకరించు. అలా చేశావంటే పెద్దవాడయ్యే నాటికి జ్ఞానివి అవుతావు.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 ౨౧ మనిషి హృదయంలో ఆలోచనలు అనేకం. అయితే యెహోవా ఉద్దేశాలే నిలబడతాయి.

There are many devices in a man’s heart; but the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

22 ౨౨ మనిషి హృదయం కోరేది నిబద్ధతే. అబద్ధికుడికంటే దరిద్రుడే మేలు.

The desire of a man is [the measure of] his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

23 ౨౩ యెహోవాకు చెందవలసిన భయభక్తులు ఆయనకి చెల్లించాలి. అది జీవ సాధనం. అది ఉన్న వాడు తృప్తిగా బ్రతుకుతాడు.

The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

24 ౨౪ సోమరిపోతు గిన్నెలో చెయ్యి పెడతాడుగానీ తన నోటికి దాన్ని ఎత్తనైనా ఎత్తడు.

The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25 ౨౫ హేళన చేసే వారిని దండించు, అది చూసి ఆజ్ఞానులు బుద్ధి తెచ్చుకుంటారు. వివేకులను గద్దించినట్టయితే వారు జ్ఞానంలో ఎదుగుతారు.

smite a scorner, and the simple will learn prudence: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.

26 ౨౬ తండ్రిని బాధిస్తూ తల్లిని తరిమేసేవాడు సిగ్గు, అపకీర్తి తెచ్చే కొడుకు.

He that spoileth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.

27 ౨౭ కుమారా, బుద్ధి చెప్పే మాటలు వినడం మానుకుంటే జ్ఞాన వాక్కులకు నీవు దూరమై పోతావు.

Cease, my son, to hear instruction [only] to err from the words of knowledge.

28 ౨౮ చెడిపోయిన సాక్షి న్యాయాన్ని గేలి చేస్తాడు. దుర్మార్గుల నోరు దోషాన్ని జుర్రుకుంటుంది.

A worthless witness mocketh at judgment: and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.

29 ౨౯ అపహాస్యం చేసేవారికి తీర్పు, బుద్ధిహీనుల వీపుకు దెబ్బలు.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
