எரேமியா 39
1 யூதா அரசன் சிதேக்கியா அரசாண்ட ஒன்பதாம் வருடம் பத்தாம் மாதத்தில், பாபிலோன் அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரும், அவனுடைய முழு இராணுவமும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் படையெடுத்து திரும்பவும் வந்து, அதை முற்றுகையிட்டனர்.
After King Zedekiah had been ruling Judah for almost nine years, King Nebuchadnezzar came in January with his army, and they surrounded Jerusalem.
2 சிதேக்கியா அரசனின் ஆட்சியில் பதினோராம் வருடம், நான்காம் மாதம் ஒன்பதாம் நாளில் பட்டணத்தின் மதில் உடைக்கப்பட்டது.
One and a half years later, after Zedekiah had been ruling for almost eleven years, on July 18, [soldiers from Babylonia] broke through the city [wall. Then they rushed in and captured the city].
3 அப்பொழுது பாபிலோன் அரசனுடைய அதிகாரிகள் வந்து நடுவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்தார்கள். சம்கார் ஊரைச்சேர்ந்த நெர்கல்சரேத்சேரும், நேபோசர்சேகிம் என்ற பிரதான அதிகாரியும், நெர்கல்சரேத்சேர் என்னும் தலைமை அதிகாரியும் பாபிலோன் அரசனின் மற்ற எல்லா அதிகாரிகளும் அங்கு உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்.
Then all the officers of the king of Babylon came in and sat down at the Middle Gate [to decide what they would do to the city. They included] Nergal-Sharezer from Samgar, Nebo-Sarsekim who was one of the chief army officers, another Nergal-Sharezer, the king’s advisor, and many other officials.
4 யூதாவின் அரசன் சிதேக்கியாவும், மற்ற எல்லாப் போர்வீரரும் அவர்களைக் கண்டபோது தப்பி ஓடினார்கள். இரவு நேரத்தில் பட்டணத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, அவர்கள் அரசனுடைய தோட்டத்தின் வழியே, இரண்டு சுவர்களுக்கும் இடையிலிருந்த வாசல் வழியாய் யோர்தான் பள்ளத்தாக்கை நோக்கி ஓடினார்கள்.
When King Zedekiah and all his soldiers realized that [the army of Babylonia had broken into the city], they fled. [They waited until] it was dark. Then they went out of the city through the king’s garden, through the gate that was between the two walls. Then they started [running] toward the Jordan River Valley.
5 ஆனால் பாபிலோனியப் படையினர் அவர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்று, எரிகோவின் சமவெளியில் சிதேக்கியாவைப் பிடித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் அவனைக் கைதுசெய்து ஆமாத் நாட்டிலுள்ள ரிப்லாவில் இருந்த பாபிலோன் அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரிடம் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவன் சிதேக்கியாவுக்குத் தீர்ப்பளித்தான்.
But the soldiers from Babylonia pursued the king, and they caught him on the plains near Jericho. They took him to the King of Babylon, who was at Riblah [town] in the Hamath [region]. There the king of Babylon told [his soldiers what] they should do to punish Zedekiah.
6 ரிப்லாவிலே பாபிலோன் அரசன் சிதேக்கியாவின் மகன்களை அவன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே கொலைசெய்தான். அத்துடன் யூதாவின் எல்லா உயர் அதிகாரிகளையும் கொன்றான்.
They forced Zedekiah to watch while they killed his sons and all the officials from Judah.
7 அதன் பின்னர் அவன் சிதேக்கியாவின் கண்களைப் பிடுங்கி, வெண்கலச் சங்கிலிகளால் கட்டி, அவனைப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டுபோனான்.
[Then] they gouged out Zedekiah’s eyes. They fastened him with bronze chains and took him to Babylon.
8 பாபிலோனியர், அரண்மனைக்கும் மக்களுடைய வீடுகளுக்கும் நெருப்பு வைத்து, எருசலேமின் மதில்களை இடித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.
[Meanwhile, ] the Babylonian army burned the palace and all the other buildings in Jerusalem. And they tore down the city walls.
9 மெய்க்காவலாளர் தளபதியான நேபுசராதான், பட்டணத்தில் இருந்த மக்களையும், தன்னிடம் வந்து சேர்ந்தவர்களையும், நாட்டில் மீதியாயிருந்தவர்களையும், பாபிலோனுக்கு நாடுகடத்திச் சென்றான்.
Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the [king’s] bodyguards, forced to go to Babylon [most of] the other people who remained in the city and the Jews who had joined the soldiers of Babylonia.
10 காவல் தளபதி நேபுசராதான் ஒன்றுமே இல்லாத சில ஏழைகளை யூதா நாட்டில் இருக்கவிட்டு, அவர்களுக்குத் திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களையும் வயல்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.
But he allowed some of the very poor people to remain in Judah, and he gave them vineyards and fields [to take care of].
11 இத்தருணத்தில் பாபிலோனிய அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் மெய்க்காவலர் நேபுசராதானிடம் எரேமியாவைக் குறித்துப் பின்வரும் கட்டளைகளைக் கொடுத்தான்:
King Nebuchadnezzar had [previously] told Nebuzaradan to find me. He said,
12 “நீ அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய்க் கவனமாகப் பராமரி. அவனுக்கு ஒரு தீங்கும் செய்யாதே; அவன் கேட்பதையெல்லாம் கொடு” என்றான்.
“Make sure that no one harms him. Take care of him, and do for him whatever he requests you to do.”
13 அப்படியே காவலர் தளபதி நேபுசராதானும், பிரதான அதிகாரி நேபுசஸ்பானும் உயர் அதிகாரியான நெர்கல்சரேத்சேரும் பாபிலோன் அரசனின் மற்ற எல்லா அதிகாரிகளும்,
So he and Nebushazban, who was one of their chief officers, and Nergal-Sharezer the king’s advisor, and other officers of the King of Babylon
14 ஆளனுப்பி காவற்கூட முற்றத்திலிருந்த எரேமியாவை வெளியே கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவனைத் தன் வீட்டுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி, சாப்பானின் பேரனும் அகீக்காமின் மகனுமான கெதலியாவிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார்கள். இதனால் அவன் தன் சொந்த மக்கள் மத்தியில் இருந்தான்.
sent [some men] to bring me out of the courtyard outside of the palace. They took me to Gedaliah who was the son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan. Then Gedaliah took me to my home, and I stayed [in Judah] among [my own] people [who had been allowed to remain there].
15 காவற்கூட முற்றத்தில் எரேமியா அடைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த வேளையில் யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு வந்தது. அவர் அவனிடம்,
While I was [still] being guarded in the palace courtyard, Yahweh gave me this message:
16 “நீ போய் எத்தியோப்பியனான எபெத்மெலேக்கிடம், ‘இஸ்ரயேலின் இறைவனாகிய சேனைகளின் யெகோவா சொல்வது இதுவே: இந்தப் பட்டணத்துக்கெதிராக என் வார்த்தைகளை நன்மையினால் அல்ல; பேராபத்தினாலேயே நிறைவேற்றப்போகிறேன். அவ்வேளையில் அவை உன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவே நிறைவேற்றப்படும்.
“Say this to Ebed-Melech, the official from Ethiopia: ‘This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [worship], says: “I will do to this city everything that I said that I would do. I will not enable the people to prosper; I will cause them to experience disasters. You will see Jerusalem being destroyed,
17 ஆனாலும் அந்த நாளில் உன்னை நான் தப்புவிப்பேன். நீ பயப்படுகிற மனிதரின் கையில் நீ ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்.
but I will rescue you from the people whom you are afraid of.
18 உன்னைக் காப்பாற்றுவேன். நீ என்னை நம்பினபடியால், வாளினால் சாகமாட்டாய். நான் உன் உயிரைத் தப்புவிப்பேன்’ என்று யெகோவா அறிவிக்கிறார்” என்றான்.
You trusted me, so I will save you. You will not be killed by [your enemies’] swords; you will remain alive. [That will surely happen because I], Yahweh, have said it.’”
