Psaltaren 48

1 En sång, en psalm av Koras söner. Stor är HERREN och högt lovad, i vår Guds stad, på sitt heliga berg.

A Song [and] Psalm for the sons of Korah. Great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, [in] the mountain of his holiness.

2 Skönt höjer det sig, hela jordens fröjd, berget Sion längst uppe i norr, den store konungens stad.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, [is] mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

3 Gud har i dess palatser gjort sig känd såsom ett värn.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

4 Ty se, konungarna församlade sig, tillhopa drogo de fram.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

5 De sågo det, då häpnade de; de förskräcktes, de flydde.

They saw [it, and] so they marvelled; they were troubled, [and] hasted away.

6 Bävan grep dem där, ångest lik en barnaföderskas.

Fear took hold upon them there, [and] pain, as of a woman in travail.

7 Så krossar du Tarsis-skepp med östanvinden.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

8 Såsom vi hade hört, så fingo vi se det, i HERREN Sebaots stad, i vår Guds stad; Gud håller den vid makt till evig tid. (Sela)

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. (Selah)

9 Vi tänka, o Gud, på din nåd, när vi stå i ditt tempel.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 Såsom ditt namn, o Gud, så når ock ditt lov intill jordens ändar; din högra hand är full av rättfärdighet.

According to thy name, O God, so [is] thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Sions berg glädje sig, Juda döttrar fröjde sig, för dina domars skull.

Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

12 Gån omkring Sion och vandren runt därom, räknen dess torn;

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

13 given akt på dess murar, skriden genom dess palatser, så att I kunnen förtälja därom för ett kommande släkte.

Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell [it] to the generation following.

14 Ty sådan är Gud, vår Gud, alltid och evinnerligen; intill döden skall han ledsaga oss.

For this God [is] our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide [even] unto death.
