Job 26

1 Därefter tog Job till orda och sade:

But Job answered and said,

2 Vilken hjälp har du ej skänkt den vanmäktige, huru har du ej stärkt den maktlöses arm!

To whom do you attach yourself, or whom are you going to assist? is it not he that [has] much strength, and [he] who has a strong arm?

3 Vilka råd har du ej givit den ovise, och vilket överflöd av klokhet har du ej lagt i dagen!

To whom have you given counsel? is it not to him who has all wisdom? whom will you follow? is it not one who has the greatest power?

4 Vem gav dig kraft att tala sådana ord, och vems ande var det som kom till orda ur dig?

To whom have you uttered words? and whose breath is it that has come forth from you?

5 Dödsrikets skuggor gripas av ångest, djupets vatten och de som bo däri.

Shall giants be born from under the water and the inhabitants thereof?

6 Dödsriket ligger blottat för honom, och avgrunden har intet täckelse. (Sheol h7585)

Hell is naked before him, and destruction has no covering. (Sheol h7585)

7 Han spänner ut nordanrymden över det tomma och hänger upp jorden på intet.

He stretches out the north wind upon nothing, and he upon nothing hangs the earth;

8 Han samlar vatten i sina moln såsom i ett knyte, och skyarna brista icke under bördan.

binding water in his clouds, and the cloud is not tore under it.

9 Han gömmer sin tron för vår åsyn, han omhöljer den med sina skyar.

He keeps back the face of his throne, stretching out his cloud upon it.

10 En rundel har han välvt såsom gräns för vattnen, där varest ljus ändas i mörker.

He has encompassed the face of the water by an appointed ordinance, until the end of light and darkness.

11 Himmelens pelare skälva, de gripas av förfäran vid hans näpst.

The pillars of heaven are prostrate and astonished at his rebuke.

12 Med sin kraft förskräckte han havet, och genom sitt förstånd sönderkrossade han Rahab.

He has calmed the sea with [his] might, and by [his] wisdom the whale has been overthrown.

13 Blott han andades, blev himmelen klar; hans hand genomborrade den snabba ormen.

And the barriers of heaven fear him, and by a command he has slain the apostate dragon.

14 Se, detta är allenast utkanterna av hans verk; en sakta viskning är allt vad vi förnimma därom. Hans allmakts dunder, vem skulle kunna fatta det?

Behold, these are parts of his way; and we will listen to him at the least intimation of his word: but the strength of his thunder who knows, when he shall employ [it]?
