Jeremia 13
1 Så sade HERREN till mig: "Gå bort och köp dig en linnegördel, och sätt den omkring dina länder, men låt den icke komma i vatten."
Thus said Jehovah unto me, 'Go, and thou hast got for thee a girdle of linen, and hast placed it on thy loins, and into water thou dost not cause it to enter:'
2 Och jag köpte en gördel, såsom HERREN hade befallt, och satte den omkring mina länder.
and I get the girdle, according to the word of Jehovah, and I place [it] on my loins.
3 Då kom HERRENS ord till mig för andra gången; han sade:
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me a second time, saying,
4 "Tag gördeln som du har köpt, och som du bär omkring dina länder, och stå upp och gå bort till Frat, och göm den där i en stenklyfta."
'Take the girdle that thou hast got, that [is] on thy loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;
5 Och jag gick bort och gömde den vid Frat, såsom HERREN hade bjudit mig.
and I go and hide it by Phrat, as Jehovah commanded me.
6 Sedan, en lång tid därefter, sade HERREN till mig: "Stå upp och gå bort till Frat, och hämta därifrån den gördel som jag bjöd dig gömma där."
And it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto me, 'Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide there;'
7 Och jag gick bort till Frat och grävde upp gördeln och hämtade fram den från det ställe där jag hade gömt den. Och se, gördeln var fördärvad, så att den icke mer dugde till något.
and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.
8 Då kom HERRENS ord till mig; han sade:
And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, 'Thus said Jehovah:
9 Så säger HERREN: På samma sätt skall jag sända fördärv över Judas och Jerusalems stora högmod.
Thus do I mar the excellency of Judah, And the great excellency of Jerusalem.
10 Detta onda folk, som icke vill höra mitt ord, utan vandrar i sitt hjärtas hårdhet och följer efter andra gudar och tjänar och tillbeder dem, det skall bliva såsom denna gördel vilken icke duger till något.
This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is — as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.
11 Ty likasom en mans gördel sluter sig tätt omkring hans länder, så lät jag hela Israels hus och hela Juda hus sluta sig till mig, säger HERREN, på det att de skulle vara mitt folk och bliva mig till berömmelse, lov och ära; men de ville icke höra.
For, as the girdle cleaveth unto the loins of a man, So I caused to cleave unto Me The whole house of Israel, And the whole house of Judah, an affirmation of Jehovah, To be to Me for a people, and for a name, And for praise, and for beauty, And they have not hearkened.
12 Säg därför till dem detta ord: Så säger HERREN, Israels Gud: Alla vinkärl äro till för att fyllas med vin. Och när de då säga till dig: "Skulle vi icke veta att alla vinkärl äro till för att fyllas med vin?",
And thou hast said unto them this word, Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, 'Every bottle is full of wine,' And they have said unto thee: 'Do we not certainly know that every bottle is full of wine?'
13 så svara dem: Så säger HERREN: Se, jag skall fylla detta lands alla inbyggare, konungarna som sitta på Davids tron, och prästerna och profeterna, ja, alla Jerusalems invånare, så att de bliva druckna.
And thou hast said unto them, 'Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am filling all the inhabitants of this land, And the kings who sit for David on his throne, And the priests, and the prophets, And all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, [With] drunkenness,
14 Och jag skall krossa dem, den ene mot den andre, både fäder och barn, säger HERREN. Jag skall icke hava någon misskund, icke skona och icke förbarma mig, så att jag avstår från att fördärva dem.
And have dashed them one against another, And the fathers and the sons together, An affirmation of Jehovah, I do not pity, nor spare, nor have I mercy, So as not to destroy them.
15 Hören och lyssnen härtill, varen icke övermodiga; ty HERREN har talat.
Hear, and give ear — be not haughty, For Jehovah hath spoken.
16 Given HERREN, eder Gud, ära, förrän han låter mörkret komma, och förrän edra fötter snubbla på bergen, när det skymmer; ty det ljus I förbiden skall han byta i dödsskugga och göra till töcken.
Give ye to Jehovah your God honour, Before He doth cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And ye have waited for light, And He hath made it for death-shade, And hath appointed [it] for thick darkness.
17 Men om I icke hören härpå, så måste min själ i lönndom sörja över sådant övermod, och mitt öga måste bitterligen gråta och flyta i tårar, därför att HERRENS hjord då bliver bortförd i fångenskap.
And if ye do not hear it, In secret places doth my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weepeth sore, And the tear cometh down mine eyes, For the flock of Jehovah hath been taken captive.
18 Säg till konungen och konungamodern: Sätten eder lågt ned, ty den härlighetens krona som prydde edert huvud har fallit av eder.
Say to the king and to the mistress: Make yourselves low — sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty.
19 Städerna i Sydlandet äro tillslutna, och ingen finnes, som öppnar dem; hela Juda är bortfört i fångenskap, ja, bortfört helt och hållet.
The cities of the south have been shut up, And there is none opening, Judah hath been removed — all of her, She hath been removed completely —
20 Lyften upp edra ögon och sen huru de komma norrifrån. Var är nu hjorden som var dig given, den hjord som var din ära?
Lift up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where [is] the drove given to thee, thy beautiful flock?
21 Vad vill du säga, när han sätter till herrar över dig män som du själv har lärt att komma till dig såsom älskare? Skulle du då icke gripas av vånda såsom en kvinna i barnsnöd?
What dost thou say, when He looketh after thee? And thou — thou hast taught them [to be] over thee — leaders for head? Do not pangs seize thee as a travailing woman?
22 Men om du säger i ditt hjärta: "Varför har det gått mig så?", så vet: for din stora missgärnings skull blev ditt mantelsläp upplyft och dina fötter nesligt blottade.
And when thou dost say in thy heart, 'Wherefore have these met me?' For the abundance of thine iniquity Have thy skirts been uncovered, Have thy heels suffered violence.
23 Kan väl en etiopier förvandla sin hud eller en panter sina fläckar? Då skullen också I kunna göra något gott, I som ären så övade i ondska.
Doth a Cushite change his skin? and a leopard his spots? Ye also are able to do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
24 Välan, jag vill förskingra dem såsom strå som far bort för öknens vind.
And I scatter them as stubble, Passing away, by a wind of the wilderness.
25 Detta skall vara din lott och din beskärda del från mig, säger HERREN, därför att du har förgätit mig och förlitat dig på lögn.
This [is] thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me — an affirmation of Jehovah, Because thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.
26 Därför skall jag ock draga upp ditt mantelsläp över ditt ansikte, så att man får se din skam.
I also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath been seen.
27 Din otukt, ditt vrenskande, ditt skändliga otuktsväsen -- på höjderna, på fältet har jag sett dina styggelser. Ve dig, Jerusalem! Du kommer icke att bliva ren -- på huru lång tid ännu?
Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on heights in a field, I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Thou art not cleansed, after when [is it] again?
