2 Kungaboken 2
1 Vid den tid då HERREN ville upptaga Elia till himmelen i en stormvind gingo Elia och Elisa från Gilgal.
And it came to pass, when the Lord was going to take Eliu with a whirlwind as it were into heaven, that Eliu and Elisaie went out of Galgala.
2 Och Elia sade till Elisa: "Stanna här, ty HERREN har sänt mig till Betel." Men Elisa svarade: "Så sant HERREN lever, och så sant du själv lever, jag lämnar dig icke. Och de gingo ned till Betel.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray thee; for God has sent me to Baethel. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and thy soul lives, I will not leave thee; so they came to Baethel.
3 Då kommo profetlärjungarna i Betel ut till Elisa och sade till honom: "Vet du att HERREN i dag vill taga din herre ifrån dig, upp över ditt huvud?" Han svarade: "Ja, jag vet det; tigen stilla."
And the sons of the prophets who were in Baethel came to Elisaie, and said to him, Dost thou know, that the Lord this day is going to take thy lord away from thy head? And he said, Yea, I know [it]; be silent.
4 Och Elia sade till honom: "Elisa, stanna här, ty HERREN har sänt mig till Jeriko." Men han svarade: "Så sant HERREN lever, och så sant du själv lever, jag lämnar dig icke." Och de kommo till Jeriko.
And Eliu said to Elisaie, Stay here, I pray thee; for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And he said, [As] the Lord lives and thy soul lives, I will not leave thee. And they came to Jericho.
5 Då gingo profetlärjungarna i Jeriko fram till Elisa och sade till honom: "Vet du att HERREN i dag vill taga din herre ifrån dig, upp över ditt huvud?" Han svarade: "Ja, jag vet det; tigen stilla."
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho drew near to Elisaie, and said to him, Dost thou know that the Lord is about to take away thy master to-day from thy head? And he said, Yea, I know [it]; hold your peace.
6 Och Elia sade till honom: "Stanna här, ty HERREN har sänt mig till Jordan." Men han svarade: "Så sant HERREN lever, och så sant du själv lever, jag lämnar dig icke." Och de gingo båda åstad.
And Eliu said to him, Stay here, I pray thee, for the Lord has sent me to Jordan. And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord lives and thy soul lives, I will not leave thee: and they both went on.
7 Men femtio män av profetlärjungarna gingo ock åstad och ställde sig på något avstånd, längre bort, under det att de båda stodo vid Jordan.
And fifty men of the sons of the prophets [went also], and they stood opposite afar off: and both stood on [the bank] of Jordan.
8 Och Elia tog sin mantel och vek ihop den och slog på vattnet; då delade sig detta åt två sidor. Och de gingo så båda på torr mark därigenom.
And Eliu took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the water: and the water was divided on this side and on that side, and they both went over on dry ground.
9 När de hade kommit över, sade Elia till Elisa: "Bed mig om vad jag skall göra för dig, innan jag bliver tagen ifrån dig." Elisa sade "Må en dubbel arvslott av din ande falla mig till."
And it came to pass while they were crossing over, that Eliu said to Elisaie, Ask what I shall do for thee before I am taken up from thee. And Elisaie said, Let there be, I pray thee, a double [portion] of thy spirit upon me.
10 Han svarade: "Du har bett om något svårt. Men om du ser mig, när jag bliver tagen ifrån dig, då kommer det dock att så ske dig; varom icke, så sker det ej."
And Eliu said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: if thou shalt see me when I am taken up from thee, then shall it be so to thee; and if not, it shall not be [so].
11 Under det att de nu gingo och talade, syntes plötsligt en vagn eld, med hästar av eld, och skilde de båda från varandra; och Elia for i stormvinden upp till himmelen.
And it came to pass as they were going, they went on talking; and, behold, a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and it separated between them both; and Eliu was taken up in a whirlwind as it were into heaven.
12 Och Elisa såg det och ropade: "Min fader, min fader! Du som för Israel är både vagnar och ryttare!" Sedan såg han honom icke mer. Och han fattade i sina kläder och rev sönder dem i två stycken.
And Elisaie saw, and cried, Father, father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof! And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his garments, and rent them into two pieces.
13 Därefter tog han upp Elias mantel, som hade fallit av denne, och vände så om och ställde sig vid Jordans strand.
And Elisaie took up the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him upon Elisaie; and Elisaie returned, and stood upon the brink of Jordan;
14 Och han tog Elias mantel, som hade fallit av denne, och slog på vattnet och sade: "Var är HERREN, Elias Gud?" Då nu också Elisa slog på vattnet, delade det sig åt två sidor, och han gick över.
and he took the mantle of Eliu, which fell from off him, and smote the water, and said, Where is the Lord God of Eliu? and he smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither; and Elisaie went over.
15 När profetlärjungarna, som voro vid Jeriko på något avstånd, sågo detta, sade de: "Elias ande vilar på Elisa." Och de kommo honom till mötes och bugade sig ned till jorden för honom.
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho on the opposite side saw him, and said, The spirit of Eliu has rested upon Elisaie. And they came to meet him, and did obeisance to him to the ground.
16 Och de sade till honom: "Se, bland dina tjänare finnas femtio raska män; låt dessa gå och söka efter din herre. Kanhända har HERRENS Ande lyft upp honom och kastat honom på något berg eller i någon dal." Men han svarade: "Sänden ingen åstad.
And they said to him, Behold now, [there are] with thy servants fifty men of strength: let them go now, and seek thy lord: peradventure the Spirit of the Lord has taken him up, and cast him into Jordan, or on one of the mountains, or on one of the hills. And Elisaie said, Ye shall not send.
17 Men när de länge och väl enträget hade bett honom därom, sade han: "Så sänden då åstad." Då sände de åstad femtio män; och dessa sökte efter honom i tre dagar, men funno honom icke.
And they pressed him until he was ashamed; and he said, Send. And they sent fifty men, and sought three days, and found him not.
18 När de sedan kommo tillbaka till honom, medan han ännu vistades i Jeriko, sade han till dem: "Sade jag icke till eder att I icke skullen gå?"
And they returned to him, for he dwelt in Jericho: and Elisaie said, Did I not say to you, Go not?
19 Och männen i staden sade till Elisa: "Stadens läge är ju gott, såsom min herre ser, men vattnet är dåligt, och därav komma missfall i landet."
And the men of the city said to Elisaie, Behold, the situation of the city [is] good, as [our] lord sees; but the waters [are] bad, and the ground barren.
20 Han sade: "Hämten hit åt mig en ny skål och läggen salt däri." Och de hämtade en åt honom.
And Elisaie said, Bring me a new pitcher, and put salt in it. And they took [one], and brought [it] to him.
21 Därefter gick han ut till vattenkällan och kastade salt däri och sade: "Så säger HERREN: Jag har nu gjort detta vatten sunt; död och missfall skola icke mer komma därav.
And Elisaie went out to the spring of the waters, and cast salt therein, and says, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be any longer death thence or barren [land].
22 Och vattnet blev sunt, och har förblivit så ända till denna dag, i enlighet med det ord Elisa talade.
And the waters were healed until this day, according to the word of Elisaie which he spoke.
23 Därifrån begav han sig upp till Betel. Och under det han var på väg ditupp, kom en skara gossar ut ur staden; och de begynte driva gäck med honom och ropade till honom: "Upp med dig, du flintskalle! Upp med dig, du flintskalle!"
And he went up thence to Baethel: and as he was going up by the way there came up also little children from the city, and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, bald-head, go up.
24 När han då vände sig om och fick se dem, uttalade han en förbannelse över dem i HERRENS namn. Då kommo två björninnor ut ur skogen och sleto sönder fyrtiotvå av barnen.
And he turned after them, and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And, behold, there came out two bears out of the wood, and they tore forty and two children of them.
25 Därifrån gick han till berget Karmel och vände sedan därifrån tillbaka till Samaria.
And he went thence to mount Carmel, and returned thence to Samaria.
