Job 39
1 Kan du sätta tiden, när stengetterna skola kidla på bergen? Eller hafver du märkt, när hindarna gå hafvande?
[Say] if you know the time of the bringing forth of the wild goats of the rock, and [if] you have marked the calving of the hinds:
2 Hafver du räknat deras månader, när de fulle varda; eller vetst du tiden, när de skola föda?
and [if] you has have numbered the full months of their being with young, and [if] you have relieved their pangs:
3 De böja sig, när de föda, och rifva sig, och låta ut sina ungar.
and have reared their young without fear; and will you loosen their pangs?
4 Deras ungar varda fete, och växa ute; de gå ut, och komma intet till dem igen.
Their young will break forth; they will be multiplied with offspring: [their young] will go forth, and will not return to them.
5 Ho hafver låtit vildåsnan så fri gå? Ho hafver vildåsnans band upplöst;
And who is he that sent forth the wild ass free? and who loosed his bands?
6 Hvilkom jag markena till hus gifvit hafver, och öknena till boning?
whereas I made his habitation the wilderness, and the salt land his coverts.
7 Han gör lek af stadsbullret; plågarenas trug hörer han intet.
He laughs to scorn the multitude of the city, and hears not the chiding of the tax-gatherer.
8 Han ser efter bergen, der hans bet är, och söker hvar grönt är.
He will survey the mountains [as] his pasture, and he seeks after every green thing.
9 Menar du, att enhörningen skall tjena dig, och skall blifva vid dina krubbo?
And will the unicorn be willing to serve you, or to lie down at your manger?
10 Kan du binda honom oket uppå i dina fårar, så att han efter dig plog drager i dalomen?
And will you bind his yoke with thongs, or will he plow furrows for you in the plain?
11 Kan du förlåta dig på honom, deraf att han mycket förmår, och låta honom för dig arbeta?
And do you trust him, because his strength is great? and will you commit your works to him?
12 Kan du betro honom, att han drager dig dina säd hem igen, och församlar henne i dina lado?
And will you believe that he will return to you your seed, and bring [it] in [to] your threshing floor?
13 Påfoglens vingar äro skönare än storkens, eller strutsfoglens vingar;
The peacock has a beautiful wing: if the stork and the ostrich conceive, [it is worthy of notice],
14 Som sin ägg lägger i jordena, och låter heta jordena utkläcka dem.
for [the ostrich] will leave her eggs in the ground, and warm them on the dust,
15 Han förgäter, att de måga varda trampade, och något vilddjur sönderslår dem.
and has forgotten that the foot will scatter them, and the wild beasts of the field trample them.
16 Han är så hård emot sina ungar, likasom de icke voro hans; han aktar icke, att han arbetar fåfängt;
She has hardened [herself] against her young ones, as though [she bereaved] not herself: she labors in vain without fear.
17 Ty Gud hafver förtagit honom visdom, och hafver intet förstånd gifvit honom.
For God has withholden wisdom from her, and not given her a portion in understanding.
18 På den tiden han reser sig, upphöjer han sig, och bespottar både häst och man.
In her season she will lift herself on high; she will scorn the horse and his rider.
19 Kan du gifva hästenom kraft; eller kan du pryda hans hals med hans gnäggande?
Hast you invested the horse with strength, and clothed his neck with terror?
20 Kan du förfara honom såsom gräshoppor? Hvad förfärligit är, det är hans nos pris.
And have you clad him in perfect armor, and made his breast glorious with courage?
21 Han rifver jordena, och är frimodig i sin starkhet; och drager ut emot den väpnada.
He paws exulting in the plain, and goes forth in strength into the plain.
22 Han bespottar räddhågan, och förfäras intet; och flyr icke för svärd;
He laughs to scorn a king as he meets him, and will by no means turn back from the sword.
23 Det ännu kogret emot honom skallrade, och glimmade både glafven och sköld.
The bow and sword resound against him; and [his] rage will swallow up the ground:
24 Han skälfver och rasar, och trampar jordena; och tror intet, att trummeten lyder.
and he will not believe until the trumpet sounds.
25 När trummeten fast klingar, säger han huj; och känner lukten af stridene lång väg, Förstarnas rop och fröjd.
And when the trumpet sounds, he says, Aha! and afar off he smells the war with prancing and neighing.
26 Flyger höken genom ditt förstånd, och utbreder sina vingar söderut?
And does the hawk remain steady by your wisdom, having spread out her wings unmoved, looking toward the region of the south?
27 Flyger örnen så högt af din befallning, att han gör sitt näste i höjdene?
And does the eagle rise at your command, and the vulture remain sitting over his nest,
28 I bergklippon bor han, och blifver i bergskrefvom, och i fast rum.
on a crag of a rock, and in a secret [place]?
29 Dädan af skådar han efter mat, och hans ögon se långt bort.
Thence he seeks food, his eyes observe from far.
30 Hans ungar supa blod, och hvar en åtel är, der är han.
And his young ones roll themselves in blood, and wherever the carcasses may be, immediately they are found.
