Jesaja 57

1 Men den rättfärdige förgås, och ingen är som lägger det uppå hjertat, och helgo män varda bortryckte, och ingen aktar deruppå; ty de rättfärdige varda borttagne för olyckone;

See how the just man has perished, and no one lays [it] to heart: and righteous men are taken away, and no one considers: for the righteous has been removed out of the way of injustice.

2 Och de som redeliga för sig vandrat hafva, komma till frid, och hvilas uti deras kamrar.

His burial shall be in peace: he has been removed out of the way.

3 Kommer härfram, I trollkonobarn, I horkarlars och horors säd.

But draw you near hither, you lawless children, the seed of adulterers and the harlot.

4 Med hvem viljen I nu hafva edra lust? Öfver hvem viljen I nu gapa med munnenom, och räcka ut tungona? Ären I icke öfverträdelsens barn och en falsk säd?

Wherein have you been rioting? and against whom have you opened your mouth, and against whom have you loosed your tongue? are you not children of perdition? a lawless seed?

5 I som så hete ären till afgudar under all grön trä, och slagten barn vid bäckerna under bergen.

who call upon idols under the leafy trees, slaying your children in the valleys among the rocks?

6 Ditt väsende är med de släta stenar i bäckenom; de äro din del, dem utgjuter du ditt dryckoffer, då du spisoffer offrar. Skulle jag dertill lust hafva?

That is your portion, this is your lot: and to them have you poured forth drink-offerings, and to these have you offered meat-offerings. Shall I not therefore be angry for these things?

7 Du gör dina säng på ett högt resigt berg, och går desslikes sjelf ditupp till att offra.

On a lofty and high mountain, there is your bed, and there you carried up your meat-offerings:

8 Och bak dörrena och dörrträn sätter du din åminnelse; ty du välter dig ifrå mig, och går upp, och utvidgar dina säng, och förbinder dig med dem; du älskar deras säng, ehvar du ser dem.

and behind the posts of your door you did place your memorials. Did you think that if you should depart from me, you would gain? you have loved those that lay with you;

9 Du far till Konungen med oljo, och hafver mångahanda krydder, och sänder din bådskap långväga, och äst förnedrad allt intill helvetet. (Sheol h7585)

and you have multiplied your whoredom with them, and you have increased the number of them that are far from you, and have sent ambassadors beyond your borders, and have been debased even to hell. (Sheol h7585)

10 Du mödde dig uti dina många vägar, och sade icke: Hvila dig något litet; utan efter du finner dine hands lefverne, varder du intet trött.

You has wearied yourself with your many ways; yet you said not, I will cease to strengthen myself: for you has done these things; therefore you has not supplicated me.

11 För hvem äst du så bekymrad och fruktar dig? Efter du dock far med lögn, och kommer intet mig ihåg, och lägger det intet på hjertat; menar du, att jag skall allstädes tiga, att du så platt intet fruktar mig?

Through dread of whom have you feared, and lied against me, and has not remembered, nor considered me, nor regarded me, yes, though when I see you I pass you by, yet you has not feared me.

12 Men jag skall uppenbara dina rättfärdighet och din verk, att de dig intet nyttig vara skola.

And I will declare your righteousness, and your sins, which shall not profit you.

13 Då du ropandes varder, så låt ditt sällskap hjelpa dig; men vädret skall alla föra dem bort, och fåfängelighet skall taga dem bort. Men den som tröster uppå mig, han skall ärfva landet, och besitta mitt helga berg;

When you cry out, let them deliver you in your affliction: for all these the wind shall take, and the tempest shall carry [them] away: but they that cleave to me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain.

14 Och skall säga: Görer väg, görer väg, rödjer vägen; hafver bort det som hindrar af mins folks väg.

And they shall say, Clear the ways before him, and take up the stumbling blocks out of the way of my people.

15 Ty alltså säger den Höge och högt besittne, den evinnerliga bor, hvilkens Namn är heligt: Jag, som bor i höjdene, och i helgedomenom, och när dem som en förkrossad och ödmjuk anda hafva, på det jag skall vederqvicka de ödmjukades anda, och hela de förkrossades hjerta;

Thus says the Most High, who dwells on high for ever, Holy in the holies, is his name, the Most High resting in the holies, and giving patience to the faint-hearted, and giving life to the broken-hearted:

16 Jag vill icke träta evinnerliga, och icke vred vara i evig tid; utan en Ande skall blåsa ifrå mitt ansigte, och jag skall göra lif.

I will not take vengeance on you for ever, neither will I be always angry with you: for my Spirit shall go forth from me, and I have created all breath.

17 Jag var vred uppå deras girighets odygd, och slog dem; fördöljde mig, och var vred. Då gingo de hit och dit uti deras hjertas väg.

On account of sin for a little while I grieved him, and struck him, and turned away my face from him; and he was grieved, and he went on sorrowful in his ways.

18 Men då jag såg uppå deras väg, helade jag dem, och ledde dem, och gaf dem åter tröst, och dem som sörjde öfver dem.

I have seen his ways, and healed him, and comforted him, and given him true comfort;

19 Jag skall skapa utvidgada läppar, de som predika skola: Frid, frid, både dem som fjerran, och dem som vid handen äro, säger Herren; och vill hela dem.

peace upon peace to them that are far off, and to them that are near: and the Lord has said, I will heal them.

20 Men de ogudaktige äro såsom ett stormande haf, det icke stilla vara kan, och dess vågar häfva upp träck och orenlighet.

But the unrighteous shall be tossed as troubled waves, and shall not be able to rest.

21 De ogudaktige hafva icke frid, säger min Gud.

There is no joy to the ungodly, said God.
