Hosea 7

1 Då jag Israel hjelpa vill, så finner man först Ephraims otro och Samarie ondsko, så att de bedrifva desto mer afguderi; och ändock de inbördes med tjufvar, och utantill med röfvare plågade äro;

When I have healed Israel, then shall the iniquity of Ephraim be revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria; for they have wrought falsehood: and a thief shall come in to him, [even] a robber spoiling in his way;

2 Likväl vilja de intet märka, att jag dermed gifver akt uppå alla deras ondsko; men jag ser väl deras väsende, som de allstädes bedrifva.

that they may concert together as [men] singing in their heart: I remember all their wickedness: now have their own counsels compassed them about; they came before my face.

3 De fröjda Konungen genom sitt afguderi, och Förstarna genom sina lögner;

They gladdened kings with their wickedness, and princes with their lies.

4 Och äro allesamman horkarlar, lika som en bakougn, den bakaren het gör, när han utknådat hafver, och låter degen igenomsyras och jäsa.

They are all adulterers, as an oven glowing with flame for hot-baking, on account of the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.

5 I dag är vår Konungs högtid ( säga de ). Så varda då Förstarna hete lika som af vin; så bjuder han de falska lärare till sig.

[In] the days of our kings, the princes began to be inflamed with wine: he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows.

6 Ty deras hjerta är hett uti deras gudelighet, lika som en bakougn, när de offra och bedraga folket; men deras bakare sofver alla nattena, och om morgonen brinner han i ljusom låga.

Therefore their hearts are inflamed as an oven, while they rage all the night: Ephraim is satisfied with sleep; the morning is come; he is burnt up as a flame of fire.

7 Så äro de ändå så hete i gudelighet, lika som en bakougn; ändock att deras domare uppfrätne varda, och alle deras Konungar falla; likväl är der ändå ingen ibland dem, som åkallar mig.

They are all heated like an oven, and have devoured their judges: all their kings are fallen; there was not among them one that called on me.

8 Ephraim varder öfverfallen af Hedningom; Ephraim är lika såsom en kaka, den ingen omvänder;

Ephraim is mixed among his people; Ephraim became a cake not turned.

9 Utan främmande uppäta hans kraft, likväl vill han intet aktat; han hafver ock fått grå hår, likväl vill han intet aktat.

Strangers devoured his strength, and he knew [it] not; and grey hairs came upon him, and he knew [it] not.

10 Och Israels högfärd varder för deras ögon ödmjukad; likväl omvända de sig intet till Herran sin Gud, och fråga ej heller något efter honom i allo desso.

And the pride of Israel shall be brought down before his face: yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, neither have they diligently sought him for all this.

11 Ty Ephraim är lika som en galen dufva, den intet akta vill. Nu åkallade Egypten, nu löpa de till Assur.

And Ephraim was as a silly dove, not having a heart: he called to Egypt, and they went to the Assyrians.

12 Men efter de så löpa, nu bit och nu dit, skall jag kasta mitt nät öfver dem, och rycka dem neder, lika som foglar under himmelen; jag skall straffa dem, såsom man det predikar uti deras församlingar.

Whenever they shall go, I will cast my net upon them; I will bring them down as the birds of the sky, I will chasten them with the rumor of their [coming] affliction.

13 Ve dem, att de ifrå mig vika. De måste förderfvade varda; ty de äro ifrå mig affällige vordne; jag ville väl förlossa dem, om de icke afguderi emot mig lärde.

Woe to them! for they have started aside from me: they are cowards; for they have sinned against me: yet I redeemed them, but they spoke falsehoods against me.

14 Så åkalla de mig ock intet af hjertana, utan tjuta i sin lägre; de församlas för mats och drycks skull, och äro mig ohörsamme.

And their hearts did not cry to me, but they howled on their beds: they pined for oil and wine.

15 Jag lärer dem, och stärker deras armar; men de tacka mig illa.

They were instructed by me, and I strengthened their arms; and they devised evils against me.

16 De omvända sig dock icke rätteliga, utan äro lika som en falsk båge; derföre måste deras Förstar falla genom svärd; deras trug skall uti Egypti land till spott varda.

They turned aside to that which is not, they became as a bent bow: their princes shall fall by the sword, by reason of the unbridled state of their tongue: this is their setting at nothing in the land of Egypt.
