1 Krönikeboken 23
1 Alltså gjorde David Salomo, sin son, till Konung öfver Israel, då han gammal, och af lefvande mätt var.
Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 Och David församlade alla öfverstar i Israel, och Presterna och Leviterna,
And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 Att man skulle räkna Leviterna, ifrå tretio år och derutöfver; och deras tal var, ifrå hufvud till hufvud, det starke män voro, åtta och tretio tusend;
And the Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 Af hvilkom voro fyra och tjugu tusend, som drefvo arbetet på Herrans hus; och sextusend ämbetsmän och domare;
Of these, twenty and four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:
5 Och fyratusend dörravaktare; och fyratusend lofsångare Herranom med strängaspel, som jag till lofsång gjort hade.
and four thousand were doorkeepers; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, [said David], to praise therewith.
6 Och David gjorde en ordning ibland Levi barn, nämliga ibland Gerson, Kehath och Merari.
And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Då Gersoniter voro: Laedan och Simei.
Of the Gershonites; Ladan and Shimei.
8 Laedans barn: Den förste Jehiel, Setam och Joel, de tre.
The sons of Ladan; Jehiel the chief, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 Men Simei barn voro: Selomith, Hasiel och Haran, de tre. Desse voro de ypperste ibland fäderna af Laedan.
The sons of Shimei; Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ [houses] of Ladan.
10 Voro också desse Simei barn: Jahath, Sina, Jeus och Beria. Desse fyra voro ock Simei barn.
And the sons of Shimei; Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 Jahath var den förste, Sisa den andre. Men Jeus och Beria hade icke mång barn; derföre vordo de räknade för ens faders hus.
And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.
12 Kehaths barn voro: Amram, Jizear, Hebron och Ussiel, de fyra.
The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13 Amrams barn voro: Aaron och Mose. Men Aaron vardt afskild, så att han vardt helgad till det aldrahelgasta, han och hans söner, till evig tid, till att röka för Herranom, och till att tjena och välsigna i Herrans Namn i evig tid;
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, for ever.
14 Och Mose, den Guds mansens, barn vordo nämnde ibland de Leviters slägte.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
15 Mose barn voro: Gersom och Elieser.
The sons of Moses; Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Gersoms barn: Den förste var Sebuel.
The sons of Gershom; Shebuel the chief.
17 Eliesers barn: Den förste var Rehabia. Och Elieser hade inga annor barn; men Rehabia barn voro mycket flere.
And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18 Jizears barn voro: Selomith den förste.
The sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.
19 Hebrons barn voro: Jeria den förste, Amaria den andre, Jahasiel den tredje, och Jekameam den fjerde.
The sons of Hebron; Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Ussiels barn voro: Micha den förste, och Jissija den andre.
The sons of Uzziel; Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
21 Merari barn voro: Maheli och Musi. Maheli barn voro: Eleazar och Kis.
The sons of Merari; Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar and Kish.
22 Men Eleazar blef död, och hade inga söner, utan döttrar; och Kis barn, deras bröder, togo dem.
And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them [to wife].
23 Musi barn voro: Maheli, Eder och Jeremoth, de tre.
The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 Detta äro Levi barn i deras faders hus, och de ypperste af fäderna, som räknade vordo, efter namnens tal efter hufvuden, hvilke gjorde de sysslor i ämbeten i Herrans hus, ifrå tjugu år, och derutöfver.
These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ [houses] of those of them that were counted, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from twenty years old and upward.
25 Ty David sade: Herren Israels Gud hafver gifvit sino folke ro, och skall bo i Jerusalem till evig tid.
For David said, The LORD, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever:
26 Leviterna behöfde ock icke bära tabernaklet, med all dess redskap, efter deras ämbete;
and also the Levites shall no more have need to carry the tabernacle and all the vessels of it for the service thereof.
27 Utan, efter Davids yttersta ord, vordo Levi barn räknade ifrå tjugu år, och derutöfver;
For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered, from twenty years old and upward.
28 Att de skulle stå under Aarons barnas händer, till att tjena i Herrans hus, i gårdenom, och till kistorna, och till reningen, och till allahanda helgedom, och till alla ämbetens sysslor i Guds hus;
For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;
29 Och till skådobröd, till semlomjöl, till spisoffer, till osyrade kakor, till pannor, till halster, och till all vigt och mått;
for the shewbread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all manner of measure and size;
30 Och till att stå om morgonen, och tacka och lofva Herran; om aftonen desslikes;
and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
31 Och till att offra Herranom all bränneoffer på Sabbatherna, nymånadom och högtidom, efter talet och sättet, alltid för Herranom;
and to offer all burnt offerings unto the LORD, in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feast, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD:
32 Att de skulle taga vara på vaktena vid vittnesbördsens tabernakel, och helgedomens; och Aarons barnas, deras bröders, till att tjena i Herrans hus.
and that they should keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, for the service of the house of the LORD.
