Jeremías 36
1 Aconteció en el cuarto año de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que él Señor vino esta palabra a Jeremías, diciendo:
And it cometh to pass, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
2 Toma un libro y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he dicho contra Israel y contra Judá y contra todas las naciones, desde el día en que mi palabra llegó a ti en los días de Josías hasta el día de hoy.
'Take to thee a roll of a book, and thou hast written on it all the words that I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;
3 Puede ser que el pueblo de Judá, al enterarse de todo el mal que tengo el propósito de hacerles, se convierta, cada uno en su camino del mal; para que tengan mi perdón por su maldad y su pecado.
if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.'
4 Entonces Jeremías mandó llamar a Baruc, hijo de Nerías; y Baruc tomó de la boca de Jeremías todas las palabras del Señor que le había dicho, escribiéndolas en un libro.
And Jeremiah calleth Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writeth from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, that He hath spoken unto him, on a roll of a book.
5 Y Jeremías dio órdenes a Baruc, diciendo: Estoy preso, y no puedo entrar en la casa del Señor.
And Jeremiah commandeth Baruch, saying, 'I am restrained, I am not able to enter the house of Jehovah;
6 Así que tienes que irte, leyendo el libro que has sacado de mi boca, las palabras del Señor, para la gente en la casa del Señor oiga el mensaje, en un día en que estén en ayuno, y en la audiencia de todos los hombres de Judá que hayan venido acá de sus ciudades.
but thou hast entered — and thou hast read in the roll that thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah, in the ears of the people, in the house of Jehovah, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities thou dost read them;
7 Puede ser que su oración por la gracia suba al Señor, y que cada hombre se desvíe de sus malos caminos; porque grande es la ira y furor que el Señor pone de manifiesto contra este pueblo.
if so be their supplication doth fall before Jehovah, and they turn back each from his evil way, for great [is] the anger and the fury that Jehovah hath spoken concerning this people.'
8 Y Baruc, el hijo de Nerías, hizo lo que Jeremías, el profeta, le ordenó que hiciera, leyendo del libro las palabras del Señor en la casa del Señor.
And Baruch son of Neriah doth according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, to read in the book the words of Jehovah in the house of Jehovah.
9 Y aconteció en el quinto año de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el noveno mes, que se dio a conocer públicamente que todas las personas en Jerusalén, y todas las personas que vinieron de Los pueblos de Judá a Jerusalén, proclamaron ayuno delante del Señor.
And it cometh to pass, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, proclaimed a fast before Jehovah have all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who are coming in from cities of Judah to Jerusalem;
10 Entonces Baruc dio una lectura pública de las palabras de Jeremías del libro, en la casa del Señor, en la habitación de Gemarías, el hijo de Safán, el escriba, en la plaza más alta, a medida que uno entra por la Nueva puerta de la casa del Señor, a la vista de todo el pueblo.
and Baruch readeth in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.
11 Y Micaías, hijo de Gemarías, hijo de Safán, después de escuchar todas las palabras del Señor, que Baruc leyó del libro:
And Michaiah son of Gemariah, son of Shaphan, heareth all the words of Jehovah from off the book,
12 Fue a la casa del rey, a la habitación del escriba: y todos los gobernantes estaban sentados allí, Elisama el escriba y Delaía, el hijo de Semaías, y Elnatán, el hijo de Acbor, y Gemaria, el hijo de Safán y Sedequías, hijo de Hananías, y todos los demás gobernantes.
and he goeth down [to] the house of the king, unto the chamber of the scribe, and lo, there are all the heads sitting: Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Acbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the heads.
13 Entonces Micaías les contó todas las palabras que habían llegado a sus oídos cuando Baruc estaba leyendo el libro a la gente.
And declare to them doth Micaiah all the words that he hath heard, when Baruch readeth in the book in the ears of the people;
14 Entonces todos los gobernantes enviaron a Jehudi, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Cusi, a Baruc, diciendo: Toma en tu mano el libro del que has estado leyendo al pueblo y ven. Así que Baruc, el hijo de Neria, tomó el libro que tenía en la mano y se acercó a ellos.
and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, 'The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.' And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,
15 Entonces le dijeron: Siéntate ahora, y danos una lectura de esto. Así lo hizo Baruc, leyéndolo a ellos.
and they say unto him, 'Sit down, we pray thee, and read it in our ears,' and Baruch readeth in their ears,
16 Se produjo que, después de escuchar todas las palabras, se dijeron unos a otros con temor: Ciertamente le daremos al rey un informe de todas estas palabras.
and it cometh to pass, when they hear all the words, they have been afraid one at another, and say unto Baruch, 'We do surely declare to the king all these words.'
17 Y preguntando a Baruc, dijeron: Di ahora, ¿cómo pusiste todas estas palabras por escrito de su boca?
And they asked Baruch, saying, 'Declare, we pray thee, to us, how didst thou write all these words — from his mouth?'
18 Entonces respondiendo Baruc, dijo: Jeremías dictaba todas estas cosas, y las anoté con tinta en el libro.
And Baruch saith to them, 'From his mouth, he pronounceth unto me all these words, and I am writing on the book with ink.'
19 Entonces los gobernantes le dijeron a Baruc: Ve y ponte en un lugar seguro, tú y Jeremías, y que nadie sepa quién eres.
And the heads say unto Baruch, 'Go, be hidden, thou and Jeremiah, and let no one know where ye [are].'
20 Luego entraron en la plaza abierta al rey; pero el libro lo guardaron en la habitación de Elisama el escriba; y le dieron al rey un relato de todas las palabras.
And they go in unto the king, to the court, and the roll they have laid up in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and they declare in the ears of the king all the words.
21 Entonces el rey envió a Jehudi a buscar el libro, y él lo sacó de la habitación de Elisama, el escriba. Y Jehudi lo leyó al oído del rey y de todos los gobernantes que estaban al lado del rey.
And the king sendeth Jehudi to take the roll, and he taketh it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and Jehudi readeth it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the heads who are standing by the king;
22 Ahora el rey estaba sentado en la casa de invierno, y un fuego ardía en la chimenea delante de él.
and the king is sitting in the winter-house, in the ninth month, and the stove before him is burning,
23 Y sucedió que cuando Jehudi, en su lectura, había terminado tres o cuatro columnas, el rey, las cortaba con su navaja, y las echaba al fuego, hasta que todo el libro se quemó en el fuego que Estaba ardiendo en la chimenea.
and it cometh to pass, when Jehudi readeth three or four leaves, he cutteth it out with the scribe's knife, and hath cast unto the fire, that [is] on the stove, till the consumption of all the roll by the fire that [is] on the stove.
24 Pero no temieron ni dieron señales de dolor, ni el rey ni ninguno de sus siervos, después de escuchar todas estas palabras.
And the king and all his servants who are hearing all these words have not been afraid, nor rent their garments.
25 Y Elnatan, Delaia y Gemaria hicieron un fuerte pedido al rey para que no dejara que el libro se quemara, pero él no quiso escucharlos.
And also Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah have interceded with the king not to burn the roll, and he hath not hearkened unto them.
26 Y el rey dio órdenes a Jerameel, el hijo del rey, a Seraías, el hijo de Azriel, y a Selemías, hijo de Abdeel, para que apresaran el escriba Baruc y al profeta Jeremías, pero el Señor los mantuvo a salvo.
And the king commandeth Jerahmeel son of Hammelek, and Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Jehovah doth hide them.
27 Luego que el rey quemó el libro en el que Baruc había escrito las palabras de Jeremías, la palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías, diciendo:
And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah — after the king's burning the roll, even the words that Baruch hath written from the mouth of Jeremiah — saying:
28 Toma otro libro y escribe en él todas las palabras que estaban en el primer libro, que Joacim, rey de Judá, puso en el fuego.
'Turn, take to thee another roll, and write on it all the former words that were on the first roll, that Jehoiakim king of Judah burnt,
29 Y acerca de Joacim, rey de Judá, tienes que decir: Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: Has puesto este libro en el fuego, diciendo: ¿Por qué has puesto en él que ciertamente vendrá el rey de Babilonia? ¿causando la destrucción de esta tierra y poniendo fin a cada hombre y bestia en ella?
and unto Jehoiakim king of Judah thou dost say: Thus said Jehovah, Thou hast burnt this roll, saying, Wherefore hast thou written on it, saying, The king of Babylon surely cometh in, and hath destroyed this land, and caused to cease from it man and beast?
30 Por esta razón, el Señor ha dicho de Joacim, rey de Judá, que no tendrá un descendiente que ocupe su lugar en el trono de David; tu cuerpo muerto será sometido al calor del día y a la escarcha de la noche.
'Therefore, thus said Jehovah, concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He hath none sitting on the throne of David, and his carcase is cast out to heat by day, and to cold by night;
31 Y enviaré castigo sobre él, sobre su descendencia y sobre sus siervos, por su maldad; Enviaré sobre ellos y sobre el pueblo de Jerusalén y los hombres de Judá, todo el mal que dije contra ellos, pero ellos no escucharon.
and I have charged on him, and on his seed, and on his servants, their iniquity; and I have brought in on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto the men of Judah, all the evil that I have spoken unto them, and they hearkened not.'
32 Entonces Jeremías tomó otro libro y se lo dio a Baruc, el escriba, el hijo de Nerías, que lo dejó en la boca de Jeremías, todas las palabras del libro que había sido quemado en el fuego por Joacim, rey de Judá: y además una serie de otras palabras del mismo tipo.
And Jeremiah hath taken another roll, and giveth it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he writeth on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burnt in the fire; and again there were added unto them many words like these.
