Proverbios 21
1 Como los repartimientos de las aguas, así está el corazón del rey en la mano del SEÑOR; a todo lo que quiere lo inclina.
As a rush of water, so is the king's heart in God's hand: he turns it wherever he may desire to point out.
2 Todo camino del hombre es recto en su opinión; mas el SEÑOR pesa los corazones.
Every man seems to himself righteous; but the Lord directs the hearts.
3 Hacer justicia y juicio es al SEÑOR más agradable que sacrificio.
To do justly and to speak truth, are more pleasing to God than the blood of sacrifices.
4 Altivez de ojos, y orgullo de corazón, que es la candela de los impíos, es pecado.
A high-minded man is stout-hearted in [his] pride; and the lamp of the wicked is sin.
5 Los pensamientos del solícito ciertamente van a abundancia; mas los de todo presuroso, indefectiblemente a pobreza.
6 Allegar tesoros con lengua de mentira, es vanidad desatentada de aquellos que buscan la muerte.
He that gathers treasures with a lying tongue pursues vanity [on] to the snares of death.
7 La rapiña de los impíos los destruirá; por cuanto no quisieron hacer juicio.
Destruction shall lodge with the ungodly; for they refuse to do justly.
8 El camino del hombre perverso es torcido y extraño; mas la obra del limpio es recta.
To the froward God sends froward ways; for his works are pure and right.
9 Mejor es vivir en un rincón del terrado que con la mujer rencillosa en espaciosa casa.
[It is] better to dwell in a corner on the house-top, than in plastered [rooms] with unrighteousness, and in an open house.
10 El alma del impío desea mal; su prójimo no le parece bien.
The soul of the ungodly shall not be pitied by any man.
11 Cuando el burlador es castigado, el simple se hace sabio; y enseñando al sabio, toma sabiduría.
When an intemperate man is punished the simple becomes wiser: and a wise man understanding will receive knowledge.
12 Considera el justo la casa del impío; cómo los impíos son trastornados por el mal.
A righteous man understands the hearts of the ungodly: and despises the ungodly for their wickedness.
13 El que cierra su oído al clamor del pobre, también él clamará, y no será oído.
He that stops his ears from hearing the poor, himself also shall cry, and there shall be none to hear [him].
14 El presente en secreto amansa el furor, y el don en el seno, la fuerte ira.
A secret gift calms anger: but he that forbears to give stirs up strong wrath.
15 Alegría es al justo el hacer juicio; mas quebrantamiento a los que hacen iniquidad.
[It is] the joy of the righteous to do judgment: but a holy [man] is abominable with evil-doers.
16 El hombre que yerra del camino de la sabiduría, vendrá a parar en la compañía de los muertos.
A man that wanders out of the way of righteousness, shall rest in the congregation of giants.
17 Hombre necesitado será el que ama el deleite; y el que ama el vino y el ungüento no enriquecerá.
A poor man loves mirth, loving wine and oil in abundance;
18 El rescate del justo será el impío, y por los rectos el prevaricador.
and a transgressor is the abomination of a righteous man.
19 Mejor es morar en tierra del desierto, que con la mujer rencillosa e iracunda.
[It is] better to dwell in a wilderness than with a quarrelsome and talkative and passionate woman.
20 Tesoro codiciable y aceite hay en la casa del sabio; mas el hombre loco lo disipará.
A desirable treasure will rest on the mouth of the wise; but foolish men will swallow it up.
21 El que sigue la justicia y la misericordia, hallará la vida, la justicia, y la honra.
The way of righteousness and mercy will find life and glory.
22 La ciudad de los fuertes tomó el sabio, y derribó la fuerza en que ella confiaba.
A wise man assaults strong cities, and demolishes the fortress in which the ungodly trusted.
23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua, su alma guarda de angustias.
He that keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from trouble.
24 Soberbio, arrogante y burlador es el nombre del que obra con la furia de la soberbia.
A bold and self-willed and insolent [man] is called a pest: and he that remembers injuries is a transgressor.
25 El deseo del perezoso le mata, porque sus manos no quieren trabajar.
Desires kill the sluggard; for his hands do not choose to do anything.
26 Hay quien todo el día codicia; mas el justo da, y sigue dando.
An ungodly man entertains evil desires all the day: but the righteous is unsparingly merciful and compassionate.
27 El sacrificio de los impíos es abominación; ¡cuánto más ofreciéndolo con maldad!
The sacrifices of the ungodly are abomination to the Lord, for they offer them wickedly.
28 El testigo mentiroso perecerá; mas el hombre que oye, permanecerá en su dicho.
A false witness shall perish; but an obedient man will speak cautiously.
29 El hombre impío endurece su rostro; mas el recto ordena sus caminos.
An ungodly man impudently withstands with his face; but the upright man himself understands his ways.
30 No hay sabiduría, ni inteligencia, ni consejo, contra el SEÑOR.
There is no wisdom, there is no courage, there is no counsel against the ungodly.
31 El caballo se apareja para el día de la batalla; mas del SEÑOR es el salvar.
A horse is prepared for the day of battle; but help is of the Lord.
