Levítico 11

1 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés y a Aarón, diciéndoles:

And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

2 Hablad a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Estos son los animales que comeréis de todos los animales que están sobre la tierra.

Speak you to the sons of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which you shall eat of all beasts that are upon the earth.

3 De entre los animales, todo el de pezuña, y que tiene las pezuñas hendidas, y que rumia, éste comeréis.

Every beast parting the hoof and making divisions of two claws, and chewing the cud among beasts, these you shall eat.

4 Estos sin embargo no comeréis de los que rumian y de los que tienen pezuña: el camello, porque rumia mas no tiene pezuña hendida, habéis de tenerlo por inmundo;

But of these you shall not eat, of those that chew the cud, and of those that part the hoofs, and divide claws; the camel, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.

5 también el conejo, porque rumia, mas no tiene pezuña, lo tendréis por inmundo;

And the rabbit, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.

6 asimismo la liebre, porque rumia, mas no tiene pezuña, la tendréis por inmunda;

And the hare, because it does not chew the cud, and does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.

7 también el puerco, porque tiene pezuñas, y es de pezuñas hendidas, mas no rumia, lo tendréis por inmundo.

And the swine, because this [animal] divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, and it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.

8 De la carne de ellos no comeréis, ni tocaréis su cuerpo muerto; los tendréis por inmundos.

You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcases; these are unclean to you.

9 Esto comeréis de todas las cosas que están en las aguas: todas las cosas que tienen aletas y escamas en las aguas del mar, y en los ríos, aquellas comeréis;

And these [are] what you shall eat of all that are in the waters: all things that have fins and scales in the waters, and in the seas, and in the brooks, these you shall eat.

10 mas todas las cosas que no tienen aletas ni escamas en el mar y en los ríos, así de todo reptil de agua como de toda cosa viviente que está en las aguas, las tendréis en abominación.

And all things which have not fins or scales in the water, or in the seas, and in the brooks, of all which the waters produce, and of every soul living in the water, are an abomination; and they shall be abominations to you.

11 Os serán, pues, en abominación; de su carne no comeréis, y abominaréis sus cuerpos muertos.

You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall abhor their carcases.

12 Todo lo que no tuviere aletas y escamas en las aguas, lo tendréis en abominación.

And all things that have not fins or scales of those that are in the waters, these are an abomination to you.

13 Y de las aves, éstas tendréis en abominación; no se comerán, serán abominación: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el esmerejón,

And these are the things which you shall abhor of birds, and they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle.

14 el milano, y el buitre según su especie;

And the vulture, and the kite, and the like to it;

15 todo cuervo según su especie;

and the sparrow, and the owl, and the cormorant, and the like to it:

16 el avestruz, y el mochuelo, y la gaceta, y el gavilán según su especie;

and every raven, and the birds like it, and the hawk and his like,

17 y el halcón, y la gaviota, y la lechuza,

and the night-raven and the cormorant and the stork,

18 y el calamón, y el cisne, y el pelícano,

and the red-bill, and the pelican, and swan,

19 y la cigueña, y el cuervo marino, según su especie, y la abubilla, y el murciélago.

and the heron, and the lapwing, and the like to it, and the hoopoe and the bat.

20 Todo insecto alado que anduviere sobre cuatro patas, tendréis en abominación.

And all winged creatures that creep, which go upon four feet, are abominations to you.

21 Pero esto comeréis de todo insecto alado que anda sobre cuatro patas, que tuviere piernas además de sus patas para saltar con ellas sobre la tierra;

But these you shall eat of the creeping winged animals, which go upon four feet, which have legs above their feet, to leap with on the earth.

22 estos comeréis de ellos: la langosta según su especie, y el langostín según su especie, y el argol según su especie, y el hagab según su especie.

And these of them you shall eat: the caterpillar and his like, and the attacus and his like, and the cantharus and his like, and the locust and his like.

23 Todo otro insecto alado que tenga cuatro patas, tendréis en abominación.

Every creeping thing from among the birds, which has four feet, is an abomination to you.

24 Y por estas cosas seréis inmundos: cualquiera que tocare a sus cuerpos muertos, será inmundo hasta la tarde;

And by these you shall be defiled; every one that touches their carcases shall be unclean till the evening.

25 y cualquiera que llevare algo de sus cuerpos muertos, lavará sus vestidos, y será inmundo hasta la tarde.

And every one that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till the evening.

26 Todo animal de pezuña, pero que no tiene pezuña hendida, ni rumia, tendréis por inmundo; cualquiera que tocare sus cuerpos muertos será inmundo.

And whichever among the beasts divides the hoof and makes claws, and does not chew the cud, shall be unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.

27 Y de todos los animales que andan en cuatro patas, tendréis por inmundo cualquiera que ande sobre sus garras; cualquiera que tocare sus cuerpos muertos, será inmundo hasta la tarde.

And every one among all the wild beasts that moves upon its fore feet, which goes on all four, is unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.

28 Y el que llevare sus cuerpos muertos, lavará sus vestidos, y será inmundo hasta la tarde; habéis de tenerlos por inmundos.

And he that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till evening: these are unclean to you.

29 Y estos tendréis por inmundos de los animales que se van arrastrando sobre la tierra: la comadreja, y el ratón, y la rana según su especie,

And these [are] unclean to you of reptiles upon the earth, the weasel, and the mouse, and the lizard,

30 y el erizo, y el lagarto, y el caracol, y la babosa, y el topo.

the ferret, and the chameleon, and the evet, and the newt, and the mole.

31 Estos tendréis por inmundos de todos los animales; cualquiera que los tocare, cuando estuvieren muertos, será inmundo hasta la tarde.

These are unclean to you of all the reptiles which are on the earth; every one who touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.

32 Y todo aquello sobre que cayere alguno de ellos después de muertos, será inmundo; así vaso de madera, como vestido, o piel, o saco, cualquier instrumento con que se hace obra, será metido en agua, y será inmundo hasta la tarde, y así será limpio.

And on whatever one of their dead bodies shall fall it shall be unclean; whatever wooden vessel, or garment, or skin, or sack it may be, every vessel in which work should be done, shall be dipped in water, and shall be unclean till evening; and [then] it shall be clean.

33 Y todo vaso de barro dentro del cual cayere alguno de ellos, todo lo que estuviere en él será inmundo, y quebraréis el vaso.

And every earthen vessel into which one of these things shall fall, whatever is inside it, shall be unclean, and it shall be broken.

34 Toda vianda que se come, sobre la cual viniere el agua de tales vasos, será inmunda; y toda bebida que se bebiere, será en todos esos vasos inmunda.

And all food that is eaten, on which water shall come [from such a vessel], shall be unclean; and every beverage which is drunk in any [such] vessel, shall be unclean.

35 Y todo aquello sobre que cayere algo del cuerpo muerto de ellos, será inmundo; el horno y la chimenea serán derribados; son inmundos, y por inmundos los tendréis.

And every thing on which there shall fall of their dead bodies shall be unclean; ovens and stands for jars shall be broken down: these are unclean, and they shall be unclean to you.

36 Con todo, la fuente y la cisterna donde se recogen aguas, serán limpias; mas lo que hubiere tocado en sus cuerpos muertos será inmundo.

Only [if the water be] of fountains of water, or a pool, or confluence of water, it shall be clean; but he that touches their carcases shall be unclean.

37 Y si cayere de sus cuerpos muertos sobre alguna simiente sembrada, que estuviere sembrada, será limpia.

And if one of their carcases should fall upon any sowing seed which shall be sown, it shall be clean.

38 Mas si se hubiere puesto agua sobre la simiente, y cayere de sus cuerpos muertos sobre ella, la tendréis por inmunda.

But if water be poured on any seed, and one of their dead bodies fall upon it, it is unclean to you.

39 Y si algún animal que tuviereis para comer se muriere, el que tocare su cuerpo muerto será inmundo hasta la tarde;

And if one of the cattle die, which it is lawful for you to eat, he that touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.

40 y el que comiere de su cuerpo muerto, lavará sus vestidos, y será inmundo hasta la tarde; asimismo el que sacare su cuerpo muerto, lavará sus vestidos, y será inmundo hasta la tarde.

And he that eats of their carcases shall wash his garments, and be unclean till evening; and he that carries any of their carcases shall wash his garments, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean till evening.

41 Y todo reptil que se va arrastrando sobre la tierra, es abominación; no se comerá.

And every reptile that creeps on the earth, this shall be an abomination to you; it shall not be eaten.

42 Todo lo que anda sobre el pecho, y todo lo que anda sobre cuatro o más patas, de todo reptil que anda arrastrándose sobre la tierra, no lo comeréis, porque es abominación.

And every [animal] that creeps on its belly, and every one that goes on four [feet] continually, which abounds with feet among all the reptiles creeping upon the earth—you shall not eat it, for it is an abomination to you.

43 No ensuciéis vuestras almas con ningún reptil que anda arrastrándose, ni os contaminéis con ellos, ni seáis inmundos con ellos.

And you shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles that creep upon the earth, and you shall not be polluted with them, and you shall not be unclean by them.

44 Porque yo soy el SEÑOR vuestro Dios, vosotros por tanto os santificaréis, y seréis santos, porque yo soy santo; así que no ensuciéis vuestras almas con ningún reptil que anduviere arrastrándose sobre la tierra.

For I am the Lord your God; and you shall be sanctified, and you shall be holy, because I the Lord your God am holy; and you shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles creeping upon the earth.

45 Porque yo soy el SEÑOR, que os hago subir de la tierra de Egipto para seros por Dios; seréis pues santos, porque yo soy santo.

For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God; and you shall be holy, for I the Lord am holy.

46 Esta es la ley de los animales y de las aves, y de todo ser viviente que se mueve en las aguas, y de todo animal que se anda arrastrando sobre la tierra;

This is the law concerning beasts and birds and every living creature moving in the water, and every living creature creeping on the earth;

47 para hacer diferencia entre lo inmundo y lo limpio, y entre los animales que se pueden comer y los animales que no se pueden comer.

to distinguish between the unclean and the clean; and between those that bring forth alive, such as should be eaten, and those that bring forth alive, such as should not be eaten.
