2 Reyes 6
1 Los hijos de los profetas dijeron a Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en que moramos contigo nos es estrecho.
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Vamos ahora al Jordán, y tomemos de allí cada uno una viga, y hagámonos allí lugar en que habitemos. Y él dijo: Andad.
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 Y dijo uno: Te rogamos que quieras venir con tus siervos. Y él respondió: Yo iré.
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 Se fue, pues, con ellos; y cuando llegaron al Jordán, cortaron la madera.
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 Y aconteció que derribando uno un árbol, se le cayó el hacha en el agua; y dio voces, diciendo: ¡Ay, señor mío, que era prestada!
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 Y el varón de Dios dijo: ¿Dónde cayó? Y él le mostró el lugar. Entonces cortó él un palo, y lo echó allí; e hizo nadar el hierro.
And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast [it] in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Y él le dijo: Tómalo. Y él tendió la mano, y lo tomó.
Therefore said he, Take [it] up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
8 Tenía el rey de Siria guerra contra Israel, y consultando con sus siervos, dijo: En tal y tal lugar estará mi campamento.
Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place [shall be] my camp.
9 Y el varón de Dios envió a decir al rey de Israel: Mira que no pases por tal lugar, porque los siros van allí.
And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 Entonces el rey de Israel envió a aquel lugar que el varón de Dios había dicho; de la cual le había amonestado; y se guardó de allí, no una vez ni dos.
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Y el corazón del rey de Siria fue turbado de esto; y llamando a sus siervos, les dijo: ¿No me declararéis vosotros quién de los nuestros es del rey de Israel?
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us [is] for the king of Israel?
12 Entonces uno de los siervos dijo: No, rey, señor mío; sino que el profeta Eliseo está en Israel, el cual declara al rey de Israel las palabras que tú hablas en tu más secreta cámara.
And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that [is] in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 Y él dijo: Id, y mirad dónde está, para que yo envíe a tomarlo. Y le fue dicho: He aquí él está en Dotán ( dos pozos ).
And he said, Go and spy where he [is], that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, [he is] in Dothan.
14 Entonces envió el rey allá gente de a caballo, y carros, y un grande ejército, los cuales vinieron de noche, y cercaron la ciudad.
Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 Y levantándose de mañana el que servía al varón de Dios, para salir, he aquí el ejército que tenía cercada la ciudad, con gente de a caballo y carros. Entonces su criado le dijo: ¡Ay, señor mío! ¿qué haremos?
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 Y él le dijo: No tengas miedo; porque más son los que están con nosotros que los que están con ellos.
And he answered, Fear not: for they that [be] with us [are] more than they that [be] with them.
17 Y oró Eliseo, y dijo: Te ruego, oh SEÑOR, que abras sus ojos para que vea. Entonces el SEÑOR abrió los ojos del joven, y miró; y he aquí que el monte estaba lleno de gente de a caballo, y de carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 Y cuando los siros descendieron a él, Eliseo oró al SEÑOR, y dijo: Te ruego que hieras a esta gente con ceguedad. Y los hirió con ceguedad, conforme al dicho de Eliseo.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 Y Eliseo les dijo: No es este el camino, ni es esta la ciudad; seguidme, que yo os guiaré al hombre que buscáis. Y los guió a Samaria.
And Elisha said unto them, This [is] not the way, neither [is] this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
20 Y cuando llegaron a Samaria, dijo Eliseo: SEÑOR, abre los ojos de éstos, para que vean. Y el SEÑOR abrió sus ojos, y miraron, y he aquí se hallaron en medio de Samaria.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these [men], that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, [they were] in the midst of Samaria.
21 Y cuando los vio, el rey de Israel dijo a Eliseo: ¿Los heriré, padre mío?
And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite [them]? shall I smite [them]?
22 Y él le respondió: No los hieras; ¿herirías tú a los que tomaste cautivos con tu cuchillo y con tu arco? Pon delante de ellos pan y agua, para que coman y beban, y se vuelvan a su señor.
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite [them: ] wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 Entonces les fue aparejada grande comida; y cuando habían comido y bebido, los envió, y ellos se volvieron a su señor. Y nunca más vinieron escuadrones de Siria a la tierra de Israel.
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
24 Después de esto aconteció, que Ben-adad rey de Siria juntó todo su ejército, y subió, y puso cerco a Samaria.
And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.
25 Y hubo grande hambre en Samaria, teniendo ellos cerco sobre ella; tanto, que la cabeza de un asno era vendida por ochenta piezas de plata, y la cuarta de un cabo de estiércol de palomas por cinco piezas de plata.
And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was [sold] for fourscore [pieces] of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five [pieces] of silver.
26 Y pasando el rey de Israel por el muro, una mujer le dio voces, y dijo: Salva, rey señor mío.
And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.
27 Y él dijo: Si no te salva el SEÑOR, ¿de dónde te tengo de salvar yo? ¿Del alfolí, o del lagar?
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?
28 Y le dijo el rey: ¿Qué tienes? Y ella respondió: Esta mujer me dijo: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo hoy, y mañana comeremos el mío.
And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.
29 Cocimos, pues, mi hijo, y le comimos. El día siguiente yo le dije: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo. Mas ella ha escondido su hijo.
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
30 Y cuando el rey oyó las palabras de aquella mujer, rasgó sus vestidos, y pasó así por el muro; y el pueblo vio el cilicio que traía interiormente sobre su carne.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, [he had] sackcloth within upon his flesh.
31 Y él dijo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si la cabeza de Eliseo hijo de Safat quedare sobre él hoy.
Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
32 Y Eliseo sentado en su casa, y con él estaban sentados los ancianos; y el rey envió a él un varón. Mas antes que el mensajero viniese a él, dijo él a los ancianos: ¿No habéis visto como este hijo del homicida me envía a quitar la cabeza? Mirad, pues, y cuando viniere el mensajero, cerrad la puerta, e impedidle la entrada; ¿no viene tras él el estruendo de los pies de su amo?
But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: [is] not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
33 Aun estaba él hablando con ellos, y he aquí el mensajero que descendía a él; y dijo: Ciertamente este mal del SEÑOR viene. ¿Para qué tengo de esperar más al SEÑOR?
And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil [is] of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?
