2 Crónicas 23

1 Mas el séptimo año se animó Joiada, y tomó consigo en alianza a los centuriones, a Azarías hijo de Jeroham, y a Ismael hijo de Johanán, y a Azarías hijo de Obed, y a Maasías hijo de Adaías, y a Elisafat hijo de Zicri;

In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zikri, into covenant with him.

2 los cuales rodeando por Judá, juntaron los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá, y a los príncipes de las familias de Israel, y vinieron a Jerusalén.

They went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' households of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

3 Y toda la multitud hizo alianza con el rey en la Casa de Dios. Y él les dijo: He aquí el hijo del rey, el cual reinará, como el SEÑOR lo tiene dicho de los hijos de David.

All the assembly made a covenant in the house of God with the king. And he showed them the king's son. And he said to them, "Look, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has spoken concerning the descendants of David.

4 Lo que habéis de hacer es: la tercera parte de vosotros, los que entran el sábado, estarán de porteros con los sacerdotes y los levitas;

This is the thing that you shall do. A third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, of the cohanim and of the Levites, shall be gatekeepers of the thresholds.

5 y la tercera parte, a la casa del rey; y la tercera parte, a la puerta del Cimiento; y todo el pueblo estará en los atrios de la Casa del SEÑOR.

A third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of the LORD's house.

6 Y ninguno entre en la Casa del SEÑOR, sino los sacerdotes y los levitas que sirven; éstos entrarán, porque son santos; y todo el pueblo hará la guardia del SEÑOR.

But let no one come into the house of the LORD, except the cohanim, and those who minister of the Levites. They shall come in, for they are holy, but all the people shall follow the LORD's instructions.

7 Y los levitas rodearán al rey por todas partes, y cada uno tendrá sus armas en la mano; y cualquiera que entrare en la Casa, muera; y estaréis con el rey cuando entrare, y cuando saliere.

The Levites shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out."

8 Y los levitas y todo Judá lo hicieron todo como lo había mandado el sacerdote Joiada; y tomó cada uno los suyos, los que entraban el sábado, y los que salían el sábado; porque el sacerdote Joiada no dio licencia a las compañías.

So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the cohen commanded: and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath; with those who were to go out on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the cohen did not dismiss the shift.

9 Dio también el sacerdote Joiada a los centuriones las lanzas, paveses y escudos que habían sido del rey David, que estaban en la Casa de Dios;

Jehoiada the cohen delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in God's house.

10 y puso en orden a todo el pueblo, teniendo cada uno su espada en la mano, desde el rincón derecho del templo hasta el izquierdo, hacia el altar y la Casa, en derredor del rey por todas partes.

He set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.

11 Entonces sacaron al hijo del rey, y le pusieron la corona y el testimonio, y le hicieron rey; y Joiada y sus hijos lo ungieron, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey!

Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, "Long live the king."

12 Y cuando Atalía oyó el estruendo del pueblo que corría, y de los que bendecían al rey, vino al pueblo a la Casa del SEÑOR;

When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:

13 y mirando, vio al rey que estaba junto a su columna a la entrada, y los príncipes y los trompetas junto al rey, y que todo el pueblo de la tierra hacía alegrías, y sonaban bocinas, y cantaban con instrumentos de música los que sabían alabar. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¡Conjuración, conjuración!

and she looked, and, look, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets; the singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, "Treason. Treason."

14 Y sacando el sumo sacerdote Joiada los centuriones y capitanes del ejército, les dijo: Sacadla fuera del recinto; y el que la siguiere, muera a cuchillo; porque el sacerdote había mandado que no la matasen en la Casa del SEÑOR.

Jehoiada the cohen brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword." For the cohen said, "Do not kill her in the LORD's house."

15 Y ellos pusieron las manos en ella, y ella se entró en la entrada de la puerta de los caballos de la casa del rey, y allí la mataron.

So they made way for her. She went to the entrance of the Horse Gate to the king's house; and they killed her there.

16 Y Joiada hizo pacto entre sí y todo el pueblo y el rey, que serían pueblo del SEÑOR.

Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be the LORD's people.

17 Después de esto entró todo el pueblo en el templo de Baal, y lo derribaron, y también sus altares; y quebraron sus imágenes, y mataron delante de los altares a Matán, sacerdote de Baal.

All the people went to the house of Baal, and broke it down, and broke his altars and his images in pieces, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

18 Luego ordenó Joiada los oficios en la Casa del SEÑOR bajo la mano de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, según David los había distribuido en la Casa del SEÑOR, para ofrecer al SEÑOR los holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, con gozo y cantares, conforme a la ordenación de David.

Jehoiada appointed the officers of the house of the LORD under the hand of the cohanim and the Levites, and he appointed the divisions of the cohanim and the Levites, whom David had assigned in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David.

19 Puso también porteros a las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, para que por ninguna vía entrase ningún inmundo.

He set the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the LORD, that no one who was unclean in anything should enter in.

20 Tomó después los centuriones, y los principales, y los que gobernaban el pueblo; y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, y llevó al rey de la Casa del SEÑOR; y viniendo hasta el medio de la puerta mayor de la casa del rey, sentaron al rey sobre el trono del reino.

He took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the Upper Gate to the king's house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom.

21 Y todo el pueblo del país hizo alegrías; y la ciudad estuvo quieta; después que mataron a Atalía a cuchillo.

So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. Athaliah they had slain with the sword.
