2 Reyes 22

1 Cuando Josías comenzó a reinar era de ocho años, y reinó en Jerusalem treinta y un años. El nombre de su madre fue Idida, hija de Adaia de Besecat.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

2 E hizo lo que era recto en ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en todo el camino de David su padre, sin apartarse ni a diestra ni a siniestra.

He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, and walked in all the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.

3 A los diez y ocho años del rey Josías, aconteció que envió el rey a Safán, hijo de Azalia, hijo de Mesulam, escriba, a la casa de Jehová, diciendo:

In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the LORD’s house, saying,

4 Vé a Helcías gran sacerdote: que cumpla el dinero que se ha metido en la casa de Jehová, que han cogido del pueblo las guardias de la puerta,

“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which is brought into the LORD’s house, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.

5 Y que lo pongan en manos de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la casa de Jehová, y que lo entreguen a los que hacen la obra en la casa de Jehová, para reparar las aberturas de la casa:

Let them deliver it into the hand of the workers who have the oversight of the LORD’s house; and let them give it to the workers who are in the LORD’s house, to repair the damage to the house,

6 A los carpinteros, a los maestros y albañiles, para comprar madera y piedra de cantería, para reparar la casa.

to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the house.

7 Y que no se les cuente el dinero, que se les diere en poder, porque ellos hacen con fidelidad.

However, no accounting shall be asked of them for the money delivered into their hand, for they deal faithfully.”

8 Y dijo Helcías gran sacerdote, a Safán escriba: El libro de la ley he hallado en la casa de Jehová. Y Helcías dio el libro a Safán, y leyólo.

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the scroll of the Torah in the LORD’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

9 Y viniendo Safán escriba al rey, dio al rey la respuesta, y dijo: Tus siervos han juntado el dinero que se halló en el templo, y lo han entregado en poder de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la casa de Jehová.

Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of the LORD’s house.”

10 Asimismo declaró al rey Safán escriba, diciendo: Helcías el sacerdote me ha dado un libro. Y leyólo Safán delante del rey.

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

11 Y cuando el rey oyó las palabras del libro de la ley, rompió sus vestidos.

When the king had heard the words of the scroll of the Torah, he tore his clothes.

12 Y mandó el rey a Helcías el sacerdote, y a Ahicam, hijo de Safán, y a Acobor, hijo de Micaia, y a Safán escriba, y a Asaia siervo del rey, diciendo;

The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,

13 Id, y preguntád a Jehová por mí, y por el pueblo, por todo Judá, a cerca de las palabras de este libro, que se ha hallado: porque grande ira de Jehová es la que ha sido encendida contra nosotros; por cuanto nuestros padres no oyeron las palabras de este libro, para hacer conforme a todo lo que nos fue escrito.

“Go enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the LORD’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”

14 Entonces fue Helcías el sacerdote, y Ahicam, y Acobor, y Safán, y Asaia, a Holda profetisa, mujer de Sellum, hijo de Tecua, hijo de Araas, guarda de las vestiduras, la cual moraba en Jerusalem en la casa de la doctrina, y hablaron con ella.

So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.

15 Y ella les dijo: Así dijo Jehová el Dios de Israel: Decíd al varón que os envió a mí:

She said to them, “The LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,

16 Así dijo Jehová: He aquí, yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, y sobre los que en él moran, es a saber, todas las palabras del libro que ha leído el rey de Judá:

“The LORD says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read.

17 Por cuanto me dejaron a mí, y quemaron perfumes a dioses ajenos, provocándome a ira en toda obra de sus manos; y mi furor se ha encendido contra este lugar, y no se apagará.

Because they have forsaken me and have burnt incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.’”

18 Mas al rey de Judá, que os ha enviado para que preguntaseis a Jehová, diréis así: Así dijo Jehová el Dios de Israel: Por cuanto oíste las palabras del libro,

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, tell him, “The LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,

19 Y tu corazón se enterneció, y te humillaste delante de Jehová, cuando oíste lo que yo he pronunciado contra este lugar, y contra sus moradores, que serían asolados y malditos; y rompiste tus vestidos, y lloraste en mi presencia, también yo te he oído, dice Jehová.

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,’ says the LORD.

20 Por tanto he aquí, yo te apañaré con tus padres, y tú serás apañado a tu sepulcro en paz: y no verán tus ojos todo el mal, que yo traigo sobre este lugar. Y ellos dieron al rey la respuesta.

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’”’” So they brought this message back to the king.
