1 Entonces todo Israel se juntó a David en Hebrón, diciendo: He aquí, nosotros somos tu hueso y tu carne:

And all Israel came to David in Chebron, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bones and thy flesh.

2 Y demás de esto, ayer y anteayer, aun cuando Saul reinaba, tú sacabas y metías a Israel. También Jehová tu Dios te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

And heretofore when Saul was king, thou wast he that led Israel in and out, and the Lord of Israel said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be for a ruler over Israel.

3 Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón; y David hizo con ellos alianza en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ellos ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra de Jehová por mano de Samuel.

And all the elders of Israel came to the king to Chebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Chebron before the Lord: and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

4 Entonces David con todo Israel se fue a Jerusalem, la cual es Jebús, porque allí el Jebuseo era habitador de aquella tierra.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem, this [is] Jebus; and there the Jebusites the inhabitants of the land said to David,

5 Y los de Jebús dijeron a David: No entrarás acá. Mas David tomó la fortaleza de Sión, que es la ciudad de David.

Thou shalt not enter in hither. But he took the strong hold of Sion: this [is] the city of David.

6 Y David dijo: El que primero hiriere al Jebuseo, será cabeza y príncipe. Entonces subió Joab, hijo de Sarvia, el primero, y fue hecho príncipe.

And David said, Whoever first smites the Jebusite, even he shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Saruia went up first, and became chief.

7 Y David habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto la llamaron la ciudad de David.

And David dwelt in the strong hold; therefore he called it the city of David.

8 Y edificó la ciudad al derredor desde Melo hasta la cerca: y Joab reparó el resto de la ciudad.

And he fortified the city round about.

9 Y David se aumentaba, yendo creciendo, y Jehová de los ejércitos era con él.

And David continued to increase, and the Lord Almighty [was] with him.

10 Estos son los capitanes de los valientes hombres que David tuvo, y los que le ayudaron en su reino, con todo Israel, para hacerle rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.

And these [are] the chiefs of the mighty men, whom David had, who strengthened [themselves] with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.

11 Y este es el número de los valientes que David tuvo: Jesbaán, hijo de Hacamoní, príncipe de los treinta, el cual blandió su lanza una vez contra trescientos, a los cuales mató.

And this [is] the list of the mighty [men] of David; Jesebada, son of Achaman, first of the thirty: he drew his sword once against three hundred whom he slew at one time.

12 Tras este fue Eleasar, hijo de Dodo, Ahohita, el cual era entre los tres valientes.

And after him Eleazar son of Dodai, the Achochite: he was among the three mighty men.

13 Este estaba con David en Fes-domim, estando allí juntos en batalla los Filisteos: y había allí una suerte de tierra llena de cebada, y huyendo el pueblo delante de los Filisteos,

He was with David in Phasodamin, and the Philistines were gathered there to battle, and [there was] a portion of the field full of barley; and the people fled before the Philistines.

14 Ellos se pusieron en medio de la haza, y la defendieron, y vencieron a los Filisteos; y salvó Jehová de gran salud.

And he stood in the midst of the portion, and rescued it, and smote the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great deliverance.

15 Ítem, tres de los treinta principales, descendieron a la peña a David, a la cueva de Odollam, estando el campo de los Filisteos en el valle de Rafaim.

And three of the thirty chiefs went down to the rock to David, to the cave of Odollam, and the camp of the Philistines [was] in the giants' valley.

16 Y David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y el alojamiento de los Filisteos estaba en Belén.

And David [was] then in the hold, and the garrison of the Philistines [was] then in Bethleem.

17 Entonces David deseó, y dijo: ¡Oh quién me diese a beber de las aguas del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

And David longed, and said, Who will give me water to drink of the well of Bethleem, that is in the gate?

18 Entonces aquellos tres rompieron por el campo de los Filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta: y tomaron, y trajéronla a David: mas él no la quiso beber, mas derramóla a Jehová, y dijo:

And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and they drew water out of the well that was in Bethleem, which was in the gate, and they took it, and came to David: but David would not drink it, and poured it out to the Lord, and said,

19 Guárdeme mi Dios de hacer esto: ¿había yo de beber la sangre de estos varones con sus vidas, que con el peligro de sus vidas la han traído? Y no la quiso beber. Esto hicieron aquellos tres valientes.

God forbid that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men with their lives? for with [the peril of] their lives they brought it. So he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty [men].

20 Ítem, Abisaí, hermano de Joab, era cabeza de los tres, el cual blandió su lanza sobre trescientos, a los cuales hirió: y en los tres fue nombrado.

And Abisa the brother of Joab, he was chief of three: he drew his sword against three hundred slain at one time, and he had a name among the [second] three.

21 Y fue el más ilustre de los tres, en los segundos; y fue príncipe de ellos: mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

He was more famous than the two [others] of the three, and he was chief [over] them; yet he reached not to the [first] three.

22 Banaías, hijo de Joiada, hijo de varón de esfuerzo, de grandes hechos, de Cabseel. Este venció los dos leones de Moab. El mismo descendió, e hirió un león en mitad de un foso en tiempo de nieve.

And Banaia the son of Jodae was the son of a mighty man: many [were] his acts for Cabasael: he smote two lion-like men of Moab, and he went down and smote a lion in a pit on a snowy day.

23 El mismo venció a un Egipcio, hombre de medida de cinco codos: y el Egipcio traía una lanza como un enjullo de tejedor: y él descendió a él con un bastón; y arrebató al Egipcio la lanza de la mano, y matóle con su misma lanza.

And he smote an Egyptian, a wonderful man five cubits [high]; and in the hand of the Egyptian [there was] a spear like a weavers' beam; and Banaia went down to him with a staff, and took the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

24 Esto hizo Banaías, hijo de Joiada, y fue nombrado entre los tres valientes,

These things did Banaia son of Jodae, and his name [was] among the three mighties.

25 Y fue el más honrado de los treinta, mas no llegó a los tres. A este puso David en su consejo.

He was distinguished beyond the thirty, yet he reached not to the [first] three: and David set him over his family.

26 Y los valientes de los ejércitos fueron Asael, hermano de Joab, y Elcanán, hijo de Dodo, de Belén,

And the mighty [men] of the forces [were], Asael the brother of Joab, Eleanan the son of Dodoe of Bethleem,

27 Samot Arotita, Helles Falonita,

Samaoth the Arorite, Chelles the Phelonite,

28 Ira, hijo de Acces Tecuita, Abiezer Anatotita,

Ora the son of Ekkis the Thecoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

29 Sobocai Husatita, Ilai Ahohita,

Sobochai the Usathite, Eli the Achonite,
