Proverbios 2
1 Hijo mío, si aceptas mis palabras, Y guardas mis mandamientos dentro de ti,
My son, if thou wilt receive my sayings, and, my commandments, wilt treasure up by thee;
2 Eres de oído atento a la sabiduría, E inclinas tu corazón a la inteligencia,
So that thou direct, unto wisdom, thine ear, bend thy heart, unto understanding;
3 Si invocas a la prudencia, Y al entendimiento alzas tu voz,
Yea if, for understanding, thou cry aloud, for knowledge, utter thy voice;
4 Si la procuras como a la plata, Y la rebuscas como a tesoros escondidos,
If thou seek her as silver, and, like hid treasure, thou search for her,
5 Entonces entenderás el temor a Yavé, Y hallarás el conocimiento de ʼElohim.
Then, shalt thou understand the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of God, shalt thou find.
6 Porque Yavé da la sabiduría. De su boca procede la ciencia y la inteligencia.
For, Yahweh, giveth wisdom, out of his mouth, knowledge and understanding;
7 Él atesora el acierto para los hombres rectos, Es escudo al que anda en integridad.
Yea he treasureth, for the upright, safety, A shield [is he] to them who walk in integrity,
8 Es el que guarda las sendas de la justicia, Y preserva el camino de sus santos.
To him that observeth the paths of justice, yea, the way of his men of lovingkindness, he doth guard.
9 Entonces entenderás la justicia y el derecho, La equidad y todo buen camino.
Then, shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity—every noble course.
10 Cuando la sabiduría entre en tu corazón Y el conocimiento sea dulce a tu alma,
When wisdom entereth thy heart, and, knowledge, to thy soul, is sweet,
11 Te guardará la discreción. Te preservará la prudencia
Discretion, shall watch over thee, understanding, shall preserve thee: —
12 Para librarte del camino malo Del hombre que habla cosas perversas,
To rescue thee from the way of the wrongful, from the man that speaketh perverse things;
13 De los que abandonan los caminos rectos Para andar por sendas tenebrosas,
From them who forsake the paths of rectitude, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 De los que gozan haciendo el mal, Y se alegran en las perversidades del vicio,
Who rejoice to do wrong, exult in the perversities of the wrongful;
15 Cuyas sendas son tortuosas, Y sus caminos extraviados.
Whose paths, are twisted, and they are tortuous in their tracks:
16 Te librará de la mujer ajena, De la extraña que endulza sus palabras,
To rescue thee, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who with her speeches seduceth;
17 Que abandona al compañero de su juventud Y olvida el Pacto de su ʼElohim.
Who forsaketh the friend of her youth, and, the covenant of her God, hath forgotten;
18 Su casa se inclina hacia la muerte, Sus sendas hacia el país de las sombras.
For she hath appointed, unto death, her house, and unto the shades, her courses;
19 Cuantos entran en ella no regresan, Ni retoman los senderos de la vida.
None who go in unto her, come back, neither attain they unto the paths of life:
20 Para que sigas el buen camino Y guardes los senderos del justo.
To the end that thou walk in the way of good men, and, the paths of the righteous, that thou observe.
21 Porque los rectos vivirán en la tierra, Y los de limpio corazón permanecerán en ella.
For, the upright, shall abide on the earth, —and, the men of integrity, shall remain therein;
22 Pero el perverso será cortado de la tierra, Y de ella serán desarraigados los transgresores.
But, the lawless, out of the earth, shall be cut off, and, traitors, shall they tear away therefrom.
