Números 11

1 Pero aconteció que el pueblo se quejó de adversidad a oídos de Yavé. Y Yavé oyó y se encendió su ira, de manera que el fuego de Yavé ardió entre ellos. Consumió [a algunos] en los extremos del campamento.

And [when] the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard [it; ] and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed [them that were] in the uttermost parts of the camp.

2 Entonces el pueblo clamó a Moisés, y Moisés oró a Yavé, y el fuego se extinguió.

And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3 [Alguien] llamó aquel lugar Tabirá, porque el fuego de Yavé se encendió contra ellos.

And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4 El populacho de extraños que estaba entre ellos tuvo grandes deseos. También los hijos de Israel volvieron a llorar y dijeron: ¿Quién nos dará carne para comer?

And the mixt multitude that [was] among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

5 ¡Cómo nos acordamos del pescado que comíamos en Egipto sin pago, de los pepinos, los melones, el ajo porro, las cebollas y los ajos!

We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

6 Pero ahora se nos fue el apetito, pues nada ven nuestros ojos sino este maná.

But now our soul [is] dried away: [there is] nothing at all, beside this manna, [before] our eyes.

7 El maná era como semilla de cilantro, y su aspecto como el aspecto de resina.

And the manna [was] as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.

8 El pueblo se dispersaba para recogerlo y lo molían en molinos o lo machacaban en morteros. Lo cocinaban en ollas o hacían tortas con él, y su sabor era como el sabor de tortas horneadas con aceite.

[And] the people went about, and gathered [it], and ground [it] in mills, or beat [it] in a mortar, and baked [it] in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.

9 Por la noche, cuando el rocío descendía sobre el campamento, el maná descendía con él.

And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

10 Moisés oyó al pueblo, cómo lloraban familias enteras, cada cual en la entrada de su tienda. La ira de Yavé se encendió grandemente, y también fue desagradable a los ojos de Moisés.

Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

11 Entonces dijo Moisés a Yavé: ¿Por qué maltratas a tu esclavo? ¿Por qué no hallé gracia ante Ti, pues echaste la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí?

And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

12 ¿Yo concebí a todo este pueblo o lo engendré para que me digas: Cárgalo en tu pecho, como una madre de crianza lleva al que mama, a la tierra que prometiste con juramento a sus antepasados?

Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

13 ¿De dónde tengo yo carne para todo este pueblo? Pues lloran ante mí, y dicen: ¡Danos a comer carne!

Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

14 No puedo yo solo soportar todo este pueblo, pues es demasiado pesado para mí.

I am not able to bear all this people alone, because [it is] too heavy for me.

15 Si así me vas a tratar, mátame del todo. Si hallé gracia ante Ti, te ruego, para que yo no vea más tu mal.

And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

16 Yavé dijo a Moisés: Reúneme 70 varones de los ancianos de Israel, que tú sabes que son ancianos y oficiales del pueblo. Tráelos a la entrada del Tabernáculo de Reunión, y que permanezcan allí contigo.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

17 Yo descenderé y hablaré allí contigo. Tomaré del Espíritu que está sobre ti y lo pondré sobre ellos, para que lleven la carga del pueblo contigo y no la lleves tú solo.

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which [is] upon thee, and will put [it] upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear [it] not thyself alone.

18 Dirás al pueblo: Santifíquense para mañana, y comerán carne, porque lloraron a oídos de Yavé, y dijeron: ¡Quién nos diera a comer carne! Pues nos iba mejor en Egipto. Yavé, pues, les dará carne, y comerán.

And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for [it was] well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 No comerán solo un día, ni dos, ni cinco, ni diez, ni 20 días,

Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

20 sino hasta un mes, hasta que les salga por las fosas nasales y la aborrezcan, por cuanto despreciaron a Yavé, Quien está en medio de ustedes. Lloraron delante de Él y dijeron: ¿Para qué salimos de Egipto?

[But] even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which [is] among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

21 Pero Moisés respondió: el pueblo en medio del cual estoy es 600.000 de a pie, y Tú dices: Les daré carne para que coman un mes entero.

And Moses said, The people, among whom I [am], [are] six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

22 Si se degollara todo el rebaño y el ganado vacuno, ¿alcanzaría para ellos? Si se recogieran para ellos todos los peces del mar, ¿les sería suficiente?

Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

23 Yavé respondió a Moisés: ¿Se acortó la mano de Yavé? ¡Ahora verás si se te cumple o no mi Palabra!

And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

24 Entonces Moisés salió y dijo al pueblo las Palabras de Yavé. También reunió a los 70 varones de los ancianos del pueblo y los puso alrededor del Tabernáculo.

And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.

25 Yavé descendió en la nube y le habló. Luego tomó del Espíritu que estaba sobre él y lo colocó sobre los 70 ancianos. Cuando el Espíritu descansó sobre ellos, profetizaron, pero después no continuaron.

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that [was] upon him, and gave [it] unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, [that], when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

26 Quedaron en el campamento dos hombres. El nombre de uno era Eldad y el del otro, Medad. El Espíritu reposó también sobre ellos, pues figuraban entre los contados, pero no fueron al Tabernáculo. Ellos profetizaron en el campamento.

But there remained two [of the] men in the camp, the name of the one [was] Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they [were] of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

27 Un joven corrió y dio aviso a Moisés: Eldad y Medad profetizan en el campamento.

And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

28 Entonces Josué, hijo de Nun, el ayudante de Moisés desde su juventud, respondió: Moisés, ʼadón mío, ¡impídeles!

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, [one] of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

29 Pero Moisés le dijo: ¿Tienes celos por causa de mí? ¡Ojalá todo el pueblo de Yavé fuera profeta, y que Yavé impusiera su Espíritu sobre ellos!

And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, [and] that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

30 Moisés volvió al campamento junto con los ancianos de Israel.

And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

31 Entonces llegó un viento de parte de Yavé que trajo codornices desde el mar, y las dejó caer sobre el campamento, como un día de camino por un lado y un día de camino por el otro, a casi 90 centímetros de altura sobre la superficie de la tierra.

And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let [them] fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits [high] upon the face of the earth.

32 El pueblo estuvo levantado todo aquel día, toda aquella noche y todo el día siguiente recogiendo codornices. El que menos recogió, hizo diez montones de 220 litros, y los esparcieron alrededor del campamento.

And the people stood up all that day, and all [that] night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread [them] all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

33 Pero mientras la carne estaba entre los dientes de ellos, antes que la masticaran, la ira de Yavé se encendió contra el pueblo, y Yavé golpeó al pueblo con un azote muy grande.

And while the flesh [was] yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

34 [Alguien] llamó aquel lugar Kibrot-hatava, porque allí sepultaron a un pueblo codicioso.

And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.

35 Luego el pueblo salió de Kibrot-hatava para Haserot, y permaneció en Haserot.

[And] the people journeyed from Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
