Job 9
1 Entonces Job respondió:
Then Job answered and said,
2 Ciertamente yo sé que es así. ¿Pero cómo puede un hombre justificarse ante ʼElohim?
I know [it is] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3 Aunque uno quiera disputar con Él, no le podría responder una vez entre 1.000.
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
4 Él es sabio de corazón y poderoso en fortaleza. ¿Quién se endureció contra Él y salió ileso?
[He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened [himself] against him, and hath prospered?
5 Arranca las montañas con su furor, y no saben quién las trastornó.
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
6 Sacude la tierra de su lugar y estremece sus columnas.
Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7 Él manda al sol, y no brilla. Coloca sello a las estrellas.
Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
8 Él solo extendió el cielo, y camina sobre las olas del mar.
Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
9 Él hizo la Osa, el Orión, las Pléyades y las secretas cámaras del sur.
Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
10 Él hace cosas grandiosas, inescrutables, y maravillas incontables.
Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11 Ciertamente pasa junto a mí y no lo veo. Si pasa adelante de mí, no lo percibo.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
12 Si Él arrebata, ¿quién lo resistirá? ¿Quién le dirá: Qué haces?
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
13 ʼElohim no reprime su ira. Bajo Él se abaten los que ayudan a los soberbios.
[If] God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
14 ¡Cuánto menos yo puedo replicarle, al rebuscar palabras frente a Él!
How much less shall I answer him, [and] choose out my words [to reason] with him?
15 A Él yo, aunque sea recto, no me atrevo a responder. Más bien imploro la clemencia de mi Juez.
Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer, [but] I would make supplication to my judge.
16 Si lo invoco, y Él me responde, no podría creer que me oye.
If I had called, and he had answered me; [yet] would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17 Porque me quebranta con una tormenta y multiplica mis heridas sin causa.
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18 No me deja recuperar aliento, mas bien me llena de amarguras.
He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
19 Si apelo a la fuerza, ¡ciertamente Él es poderoso! Y si acudo al juicio, ¿quién lo convocará?
If [I speak] of strength, lo, [he is] strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time [to plead]?
20 Si me declaro justo, mi boca me condenará. Aunque sea intachable, Él me declarará perverso.
If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
21 Soy intachable, sin embargo, no me conozco a mí mismo. Desprecio mi vida.
[Though] I [were] perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22 Todo es una misma cosa. Por tanto digo: Él destruye al intachable y al perverso.
This [is] one [thing], therefore I said [it], He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23 Si el azote mata de repente, Él se burla de la desesperación del inocente.
If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
24 La tierra es entregada en manos de los perversos. Él cubre los semblantes de sus jueces. Si no es así, ¿entonces, quién?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?
25 Mis días son más veloces que un corredor. Huyeron. No vieron el bien.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
26 Se deslizaron como botes de junco, como el águila que se lanza sobre su presa.
They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle [that] hasteth to the prey.
27 Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, mudaré mi semblante y me alegraré,
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort [myself: ]
28 entonces me turban todos mis dolores. Sé que no me tendrás como inocente,
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29 y que soy declarado perverso. ¿Para qué entonces me fatigo en vano?
[If] I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
30 Aunque me lave con agua de nieve, y limpie mis manos con lejía,
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
31 aún me hundirás en el lodo, y mis ropas me repugnarán.
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
32 Porque Él no es hombre como yo para que le responda, y vayamos juntos a juicio.
For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
33 No hay un árbitro entre nosotros que coloque su mano entre los dos,
Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.
34 que quite su vara de sobre mí para que no me espante su terror.
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35 Entonces yo hablaría y no le temería. Pero yo mismo no estoy en esa condición.
[Then] would I speak, and not fear him; but [it is] not so with me.
