Jeremías 36
1 En el cuarto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, llegó a Jeremías esta palabra de parte de Yahvé, diciendo:
It happened in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 “Toma un rollo de libro y escribe en él todas las palabras que te he dicho contra Israel, contra Judá y contra todas las naciones, desde el día en que te hablé, desde los días de Josías hasta hoy.
"Take a scroll, and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
3 Puede ser que la casa de Judá oiga todo el mal que pienso hacerles, para que cada uno se convierta de su mal camino; para que yo perdone su iniquidad y su pecado.”
It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin."
4 Entonces Jeremías llamó a Baruc hijo de Nerías, y Baruc escribió de boca de Jeremías todas las palabras de Yahvé, que le había hablado, en un rollo de libro.
Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll.
5 Jeremías ordenó a Baruc, diciendo: “Estoy restringido. No puedo entrar en la casa de Yahvé.
Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, "I am shut up; I can't go into the house of the LORD:
6 Por lo tanto, ve y lee del rollo que has escrito de mi boca, las palabras de Yahvé, a los oídos del pueblo en la casa de Yahvé en el día de ayuno. También las leerás en los oídos de todo Judá que salga de sus ciudades.
therefore you go, and read from the scroll, which you have written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house on the fast day; and also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
7 Puede ser que presenten su súplica ante Yahvé, y que cada uno se convierta de su mal camino; porque Yahvé ha pronunciado gran enojo e ira contra este pueblo.”
It may be they will present their petition before the LORD, and will return everyone from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people."
8 Baruc, hijo de Nerías, hizo todo lo que le mandó el profeta Jeremías, leyendo en el libro las palabras de Yahvé en la casa de Yahvé.
Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading from the scroll the words of the LORD in the LORD's house.
9 En el quinto año de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, en el mes noveno, todo el pueblo de Jerusalén y todo el pueblo que venía de las ciudades de Judá a Jerusalén, proclamaron un ayuno ante Yahvé.
Now it happened in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before the LORD.
10 Entonces Baruc leyó las palabras de Jeremías del libro en la casa de Yahvé, en la sala de Gemarías, hijo del escriba Safán, en el atrio superior, a la entrada de la puerta nueva de la casa de Yahvé, a oídos de todo el pueblo.
Then Baruch read from the scroll the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the New Gate of the LORD's house, in the ears of all the people.
11 Cuando Micaías, hijo de Gemarías, hijo de Safán, escuchó del libro todas las palabras de Yahvé,
When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard from the scroll all the words of the LORD,
12 bajó a la casa del rey, a la sala del escriba; y he aquí que todos los príncipes estaban sentados allí, el escriba Elisama, Delaías hijo de Semaías, Elnatán hijo de Acbor, Gemarías hijo de Safán, Sedequías hijo de Ananías, y todos los príncipes.
he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's room: and look, all the officials were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the officials.
13 Entonces Micaías les declaró todas las palabras que había oído, cuando Baruc leyó el libro a oídos del pueblo.
Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the scroll in the hearing of the people.
14 Entonces todos los príncipes enviaron a Jehudí hijo de Netanías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Cusi, a Baruc, diciendo: “Toma en tu mano el rollo que has leído a oídos del pueblo, y ven.” Entonces Baruc, hijo de Nerías, tomó el rollo en su mano y se acercó a ellos.
Therefore all the officials sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, "Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come." So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.
15 Ellos le dijeron: “Siéntate ahora y léelo ante nosotros”. Así que Baruc lo leyó en su audiencia.
They said to him, "Sit down now, and read it in our ears." So Baruch read it in their ears.
16 Cuando escucharon todas las palabras, se volvieron temerosos unos de otros y dijeron a Baruc: “Sin duda, contaremos al rey todas estas palabras.”
Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, "We will surely tell the king of all these words."
17 Le preguntaron a Baruc, diciendo: “Dinos ahora, ¿cómo has escrito todas estas palabras en su boca?”
They asked Baruch, saying, "Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?"
18 Entonces Baruc les respondió: “Él me dictó todas estas palabras con su boca, y yo las escribí con tinta en el libro”.
Then Baruch answered them, "He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink on the scroll."
19 Entonces los príncipes le dijeron a Baruc: “Tú y Jeremías vayan a esconderse. Que nadie sepa dónde están”.
Then the officials said to Baruch, "Go, hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are."
20 Entraron al rey en el atrio, pero habían guardado el rollo en la habitación del escriba Elisama. Entonces contaron todas las palabras a la vista del rey.
They went in to the king into the court; but they had put the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.
21 El rey envió a Jehudí a buscar el rollo y lo sacó de la habitación del escriba Elisama. Jehudí lo leyó a la vista del rey, y a la vista de todos los príncipes que estaban junto al rey.
So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll; and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the officials who stood beside the king.
22 El rey estaba sentado en la casa de invierno en el mes noveno, y había un fuego en el brasero ardiendo ante él.
Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month: and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.
23 Cuando Jehudí hubo leído tres o cuatro columnas, el rey lo cortó con el cortaplumas y lo echó al fuego que había en el brasero, hasta que todo el rollo se consumió en el fuego que había en el brasero.
It happened, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that the king cut it with a knife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24 El rey y sus siervos, al oír todas estas palabras, no tuvieron miedo y no se rasgaron las vestiduras.
They were not afraid, nor tore their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants who heard all these words.
25 Además, Elnatán, Delaías y Gemarías habían intercedido ante el rey para que no quemara el rollo, pero él no los escuchó.
Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not hear them.
26 El rey ordenó a Jerameel, hijo del rey, y a Seraías, hijo de Azriel, y a Selemías, hijo de Abdeel, que detuvieran al escriba Baruc y al profeta Jeremías, pero el Señor los escondió.
The king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.
27 Entonces vino la palabra de Yahvé a Jeremías, después de que el rey quemó el rollo, y las palabras que Baruc escribió en boca de Jeremías, diciendo:
Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28 “Vuelve a tomar otro rollo y escribe en él todas las palabras anteriores que estaban en el primer rollo, que Joacim, rey de Judá, ha quemado.
"Take again another scroll, and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29 Sobre Joacim, rey de Judá, dirás: “Yahvé dice: “Tú has quemado este rollo, diciendo: “¿Por qué has escrito en él, diciendo: ‘El rey de Babilonia vendrá ciertamente a destruir esta tierra, y hará desaparecer de ella a hombres y animales?””.
Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, 'Thus says the LORD: "You have burned this scroll, saying, 'Why have you written in it, saying, "The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and animal?"'"
30 Por eso dice Yahvé sobre Joacim, rey de Judá: “No tendrá quien se siente en el trono de David. Su cadáver será arrojado de día al calor, y de noche a la helada.
Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: "He shall have none to sit on the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31 Lo castigaré a él, a su descendencia y a sus siervos por su iniquidad. Traeré sobre ellos, sobre los habitantes de Jerusalén y sobre los hombres de Judá, todo el mal que he pronunciado contra ellos, pero no escucharon”.
I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they did not listen."'"
32 Entonces Jeremías tomó otro rollo y se lo dio a Baruc, el escriba hijo de Nerías, quien escribió en él, de boca de Jeremías, todas las palabras del libro que Joacim, rey de Judá, había quemado en el fuego; y se les añadieron muchas palabras similares.
Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the instruction of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides to them many like words.
