Deuteronomio 18
1 Los sacerdotes y los levitas — toda la tribu de Leví — no tendrán parte ni herencia con Israel. Comerán las ofrendas de Yahvé hechas por fuego y su porción.
The priests, the Levites, even the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; the burnt offerings of the Lord [are] their inheritance, they shall eat them.
2 No tendrán herencia entre sus hermanos. Yahvé es su herencia, como él les ha dicho.
And they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself [is] his portion, as he said to him.
3 Esto será lo que les corresponda a los sacerdotes del pueblo, de los que ofrezcan un sacrificio, ya sea de buey o de oveja, que le darán al sacerdote: la espaldilla, las dos mejillas y las partes interiores.
And this [is] the due of the priests in the things coming from the people from those who offer sacrifices, whether it be a calf or a sheep; and you shall give the shoulder to the priest, and the cheeks, and the great intestine:
4 Le darás las primicias de tu grano, de tu vino nuevo y de tu aceite, y las primicias del vellón de tus ovejas.
and the first fruits of your corn, and of your wine, and of your oil; and you shall give to him the first fruits of the fleeces of your sheep:
5 Porque Yahvé, tu Dios, lo ha escogido de entre todas tus tribus para que esté de pie para servir en el nombre de Yahvé, a él y a sus hijos para siempre.
because the Lord has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand before the Lord your God, to minister and bless in his name, himself and his sons among the children of Israel.
6 Si un levita sale de cualquiera de vuestras puertas de todo Israel donde vive, y viene con todo el deseo de su alma al lugar que Yahvé elija,
And if a Levite come from one of the cities of all the children of Israel, where he himself dwells, accordingly as his mind desires, to the place which he shall have chosen,
7 entonces ministrará en nombre de Yahvé su Dios, como lo hacen todos sus hermanos los levitas que están allí ante Yahvé.
he shall minister to the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites, who stand there present before the Lord your God.
8 Tendrán porciones similares para comer, además de lo que provenga de la venta de sus bienes familiares.
He shall eat an allotted portion, besides the sale of his hereditary property.
9 Cuando hayas entrado en la tierra que Yahvé vuestro Dios te da, no aprenderás a imitar las abominaciones de esas naciones.
And when you shall have entered into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
10 No se hallará entre vosotros a nadie que haga pasar a su hijo o a su hija por el fuego, a nadie que utilice la adivinación, a nadie que adivine la suerte, a ningún encantador, a ningún hechicero,
There shall not be found in you one who purges his son or his daughter with fire, one who uses divination, who deals with omens, and augury,
11 a ningún encantador, a nadie que consulte a un espíritu familiar, a ningún mago, a ningún nigromante.
a sorcerer employing incantation, one who has in him a divining spirit, and observer of signs, questioning the dead.
12 Porque cualquiera que haga estas cosas es una abominación para Yahvé. A causa de estas abominaciones, Yahvé, tu Dios, los expulsa de tu presencia.
For every one that does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God; for because of these abominations the Lord will destroy them from before your face.
13 Serás irreprochable ante el Señor, tu Dios.
You shall be perfect before the Lord your God.
14 Porque estas naciones que vas a despojar escuchan a los que practican la hechicería y a los adivinos; pero en cuanto a ti, Yahvé vuestro Dios no te lo ha permitido.
For all these nations whose [land] you shall inherit, they will listen to omens and divinations; but the Lord your God has not permitted you so [to do].
15 El Señor, tu Dios, te levantará un profeta de entre tus hermanos, como yo. Lo escucharás.
The Lord your God shall raise up to you a prophet of your brethren, like me; him shall you hear:
16 Esto es según todo lo que pediste a Yahvé vuestro Dios en Horeb el día de la asamblea, diciendo: “No me dejes oír de nuevo la voz de Yahvé mi Dios, ni me dejes ver más este gran fuego, para que no muera.”
according to all things which you did desire of the Lord your God in Choreb in the day of the assembly, saying, We will not again hear the voice of the Lord your God, and we will not any more see this great fire, and [so] we shall not die.
17 El Señor me dijo: “Han dicho bien lo que han dicho.
And the Lord said to me, They have spoken rightly all that they have said to you.
18 Yo les suscitaré un profeta de entre sus hermanos, como tú. Pondré mis palabras en su boca, y él les dirá todo lo que yo le mande.
I will raise up to them a prophet of their brethren, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them as I shall command him.
19 Sucederá que el que no escuche mis palabras que hablará en mi nombre, se lo exigiré.
And whatever man shall not listen to whatever words that prophet shall speak in my name, I will take vengeance on him.
20 Pero el profeta que hable una palabra presuntuosa en mi nombre, que yo no le haya mandado hablar, o que hable en nombre de otros dioses, ese mismo profeta morirá.”
But the prophet whoever shall impiously speak in my name a word which I have not commanded him to speak, and whoever shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
21 Pueden decir en su corazón: “¿Cómo sabremos la palabra que Yahvé no ha hablado?”
But if you shall say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?
22 Cuando un profeta habla en nombre de Yahvé, si la cosa no se cumple ni sucede, eso es lo que Yahvé no ha hablado. El profeta lo ha hablado presuntuosamente. No debes tener miedo de él.
Whatsoever words that prophet shall speak in the name of the Lord, and they shall not come true, and not come to pass, this [is] the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken wickedly: you shall not spare him.
