2 Samuel 3

1 Hubo una larga guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la de David. David se hacía cada vez más fuerte, pero la casa de Saúl se debilitaba cada vez más.

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; and David waxed stronger and stronger, but the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

2 A David le nacieron hijos en Hebrón. Su primogénito fue Amnón, de Ahinoam la jezreelita;

And unto David were sons born in Hebron; and his first-born was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;

3 y su segundo, Chileab, de Abigail la mujer de Nabal el carmelita; y el tercero, Absalón, hijo de Maaca la hija de Talmai, rey de Guesur;

and his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

4 y el cuarto, Adonías, hijo de Haggit; y el quinto, Sefatías, hijo de Abital;

and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

5 y el sexto, Itream, de Egla, mujer de David. Estos le nacieron a David en Hebrón.

and the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

6 Mientras había guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la de David, Abner se hizo fuerte en la casa de Saúl.

And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner showed himself strong in the house of Saul.

7 Saúl tenía una concubina que se llamaba Rizpa, hija de Aja; e Ishboset le dijo a Abner: “¿Por qué te has metido con la concubina de mi padre?”

Now Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah; and Ish-bosheth said to Abner: 'Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?'

8 Entonces Abner se enojó mucho por las palabras de Ishboshet, y dijo: “¿Soy yo una cabeza de perro que pertenece a Judá? Hoy me muestro bondadoso con la casa de tu padre Saúl, con sus hermanos y con sus amigos, y no te he entregado en manos de David; ¡y sin embargo me acusas hoy de una falta con respecto a esta mujer!

Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said: 'Am I a dog's head that belongeth to Judah? This day do I show kindness unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, and yet thou chargest me this day with a fault concerning this woman.

9 Que Dios haga lo mismo con Abner, y más aún, si, como Yahvé ha jurado a David, no hago lo mismo con él:

God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as the LORD hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;

10 transferir el reino de la casa de Saúl y establecer el trono de David sobre Israel y sobre Judá, desde Dan hasta Beerseba.”

to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-sheba.'

11 No pudo responder a Abner ni una palabra más, porque le tenía miedo.

And he could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him.

12 Abner envió mensajeros a David en su nombre, diciéndole: “¿De quién es la tierra?” y diciendo: “Haz tu alianza conmigo, y he aquí que mi mano estará contigo para traer a todo Israel a tu alrededor.”

And Abner sent messengers to David straightway, saying: 'Whose is the land?' saying also: 'Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring over all Israel unto thee.'

13 David dijo: “Bien. Haré un tratado contigo, pero te pido una cosa. Esto es, que no verás mi rostro a menos que primero traigas a Mical, la hija de Saúl, cuando vengas a ver mi rostro”.

And he said: 'Well; I will make a league with thee; but one thing I require of thee, that is, thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.'

14 David envió mensajeros a Isboset, hijo de Saúl, diciéndole: “Entrégame a mi esposa Mical, a quien me dieron en matrimonio por cien prepucios de los filisteos.”

And David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth Saul's son, saying: 'Deliver me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to me for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.'

15 Ishbosheth envió y la separó de su marido, Paltiel hijo de Laish.

And Ish-bosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Paltiel the son of Laish.

16 Su marido la acompañó, llorando, y la siguió hasta Bahurim. Entonces Abner le dijo: “¡Vete, vuelve!”, y regresó.

And her husband went with her, weeping as he went, and followed her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him: 'Go, return'; and he returned.

17 Abner se comunicó con los ancianos de Israel, diciendo: “En tiempos pasados, ustedes buscaban que David fuera rey sobre ustedes.

And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying: 'In times past ye sought for David to be king over you;

18 ¡Ahora, pues, háganlo! Porque Yahvé ha hablado de David, diciendo: ‘Por la mano de mi siervo David, salvaré a mi pueblo Israel de la mano de los filisteos y de la mano de todos sus enemigos’.”

now then do it; for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying: By the hand of My servant David I will save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'

19 Abner también habló en los oídos de Benjamín; y Abner también fue a hablar en los oídos de David en Hebrón todo lo que le parecía bien a Israel y a toda la casa de Benjamín.

And Abner also spoke in the ears of Benjamin; and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and to the whole house of Benjamin.

20 Y Abner vino a David a Hebrón, y veinte hombres con él. David hizo un banquete a Abner y a los hombres que estaban con él.

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.

21 Abner dijo a David: “Me levantaré e iré y reuniré a todo Israel ante mi señor el rey, para que hagan un pacto contigo y para que reines sobre todo lo que tu alma desee.” David despidió a Abner, y éste se fue en paz.

And Abner said unto David: 'I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thy soul desireth.' And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.

22 He aquí que los siervos de David y Joab venían de una incursión y traían consigo un gran botín; pero Abner no estaba con David en Hebrón, pues éste lo había despedido y se había ido en paz.

And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from a foray, and brought in a great spoil with them; but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

23 Cuando llegó Joab y todo el ejército que estaba con él, le dijeron a Joab: “Abner hijo de Ner vino al rey, y él lo ha despedido, y se ha ido en paz.”

When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying: 'Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.'

24 Entonces Joab se acercó al rey y le dijo: “¿Qué has hecho? He aquí que Abner ha venido a ti. ¿Por qué lo has despedido, y ya se ha ido?

Then Joab came to the king, and said: 'What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?

25 Tú conoces a Abner, hijo de Ner. Vino a engañarte y a conocer tu salida y tu entrada, y a saber todo lo que haces”.

Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.'

26 Cuando Joab salió de David, envió mensajeros en busca de Abner, y lo trajeron de vuelta del pozo de Sira; pero David no lo sabía.

And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from Bor-sirah; but David knew it not.

27 Cuando Abner regresó a Hebrón, Joab lo apartó en medio de la puerta para hablar con él en voz baja, y lo golpeó allí en el cuerpo, de modo que murió por la sangre de su hermano Asael.

And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there in the groin, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

28 Después, cuando David lo oyó, dijo: “Yo y mi reino quedamos libres de culpa ante el Señor para siempre por la sangre de Abner, hijo de Ner.

And afterward when David heard it, he said: 'I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner;

29 Que caiga sobre la cabeza de Joab y sobre toda la casa de su padre. Que no falte de la casa de Joab ninguno que tenga una baja, o que sea leproso, o que se apoye en un bastón, o que caiga por la espada, o que le falte el pan.”

let it fall upon the head of Joab, and upon all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth by the sword, or that lacketh bread.'

30 Entonces Joab y su hermano Abisai mataron a Abner, porque éste había matado a su hermano Asael en Gabaón en la batalla.

So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

31 David dijo a Joab y a todo el pueblo que estaba con él: “Rasguen sus ropas, vístanse de saco y hagan duelo frente a Abner”. El rey David siguió el féretro.

And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him: 'Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and wail before Abner.' And king David followed the bier.

32 Enterraron a Abner en Hebrón; el rey alzó la voz y lloró ante la tumba de Abner, y todo el pueblo lloró.

And they buried Abner in Hebron; and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

33 El rey se lamentó por Abner y dijo: “¿Debe morir Abner como muere un tonto?

And the king lamented for Abner, and said: Should Abner die as a churl dieth?

34 Sus manos no fueron atadas, ni sus pies fueron puestos en grilletes. Como un hombre cae ante los hijos de la iniquidad, así caíste tú”. Todo el pueblo volvió a llorar por él.

Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters; as a man falleth before the children of iniquity, so didst thou fall. And all the people wept again over him.

35 Todo el pueblo vino a exhortar a David a que comiera pan mientras fuera de día; pero David juró diciendo: “Que Dios me haga así, y más, si pruebo el pan o cualquier otra cosa, hasta que se ponga el sol.”

And all the people came to cause David to eat bread while it was yet day; but David swore, saying: 'God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or aught else, till the sun be down.'

36 Todo el pueblo se dio por enterado, y les pareció bien, pues todo lo que hacía el rey le parecía bien a todo el pueblo.

And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them; whatsoever the king did, pleased all the people.

37 Así que todo el pueblo y todo Israel comprendieron aquel día que no era del rey matar a Abner hijo de Ner.

So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.

38 El rey dijo a sus siervos: “¿No sabéis que hoy ha caído un príncipe y un gran hombre en Israel?

And the king said unto his servants: 'Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

39 Hoy soy débil, aunque he sido ungido rey. Estos hombres, los hijos de Sarvia, son demasiado duros para mí. Que el Señor recompense al malhechor según su maldad”.

And I am this day weak, and just anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me; the LORD reward the evildoer according to his wickedness.'
