2 Samuel 23
1 Estas son las últimas palabras de David. David el hijo de Isaí dice, el hombre que fue elevado a lo alto dice, el ungido del Dios de Jacob, el dulce salmista de Israel:
Now these are the last words of David: The saying of David the son of Jesse, and the saying of the man raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet singer of Israel:
2 “El Espíritu de Yahvé habló por mí. Su palabra estaba en mi lengua.
The spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was upon my tongue.
3 El Dios de Israel dijo, la Roca de Israel me habló, El que gobierna a los hombres con rectitud, que gobierna en el temor de Dios,
The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: 'Ruler over men shall be the righteous, even he that ruleth in the fear of God,
4 será como la luz de la mañana cuando sale el sol, una mañana sin nubes, cuando la hierba tierna brota de la tierra, a través de un claro resplandor después de la lluvia”.
And as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, a morning without clouds; when through clear shining after rain, the tender grass springeth out of the earth.'
5 ¿No es así mi casa con Dios? Sin embargo, ha hecho conmigo un pacto eterno, ordenado en todas las cosas, y seguro, porque es toda mi salvación y todo mi deseo. ¿No lo hará crecer?
For is not my house established with God? for an everlasting covenant He hath made with me, ordered in all things, and sure; for all my salvation, and all my desire, will he not make it to grow?
6 Pero todos los impíos serán como espinas que hay que arrancar, porque no se pueden coger con la mano.
But the ungodly, they are as thorns thrust away, all of them, for they cannot be taken with the hand;
7 El hombre que los toque debe estar armado con hierro y el bastón de una lanza. Serán totalmente quemados con fuego en su lugar”.
But the man that toucheth them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.
8 Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David Josheb Basshebeth, tahchemonita, jefe de los capitanes; se llamaba Adino el eznita, que mató a ochocientos de una vez.
These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite; he lifted up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
9 Después de él estaba Eleazar hijo de Dodai, hijo de un ahohita, uno de los tres valientes que estaban con David cuando desafiaron a los filisteos que estaban allí reunidos para la batalla, y los hombres de Israel se habían marchado.
And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they jeoparded their lives against the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away;
10 Se levantó y golpeó a los filisteos hasta que su mano se cansó, y su mano se congeló a la espada; y Yahvé obró una gran victoria aquel día, y el pueblo volvió tras él sólo para tomar botín.
he stood firm, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand did cleave unto the sword; and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to strip the slain.
11 Después de él fue Samma hijo de Agee, un harareo. Los filisteos se habían reunido en tropa donde había un terreno lleno de lentejas; y el pueblo huyó de los filisteos.
And after him was Shammah the son of Age the Ararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 Pero él se puso en medio de la parcela y la defendió, y mató a los filisteos; y el Señor obtuvo una gran victoria.
But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD wrought a great victory.
13 Tres de los treinta jefes descendieron y vinieron a David en el tiempo de la cosecha, a la cueva de Adulam; y la tropa de los filisteos estaba acampada en el valle de Refaim.
And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
14 David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba entonces en Belén.
And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.
15 David decía con nostalgia: “¡Oh, si alguien me diera de beber agua del pozo de Belén, que está junto a la puerta!”
And David longed, and said: 'Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!'
16 Los tres valientes irrumpieron en el ejército de los filisteos y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén que estaba junto a la puerta, la tomaron y se la llevaron a David; pero éste no quiso beber de ella, sino que la derramó a Yahvé.
And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; but he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
17 Él dijo: “¡Lejos de mí, Yahvé, que yo haga esto! ¿No es ésta la sangre de los hombres que arriesgaron su vida para ir?” Por eso no quiso beberla. Los tres hombres poderosos hicieron estas cosas.
And he said: 'Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this; shall I drink the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives?' therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
18 Abisai, hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, era el jefe de los tres. Levantó su lanza contra trescientos y los mató, y tuvo un nombre entre los tres.
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.
19 ¿No era él el más honrado de los tres? Por eso fue nombrado su capitán. Sin embargo, no fue incluido como uno de los tres.
He was most honourable of the three; therefore he was made their captain; howbeit he attained not unto the first three.
20 Benaía, hijo de Joiada, hijo de un valiente de Kabzeel, que había hecho obras poderosas, mató a los dos hijos de Ariel de Moab. También bajó y mató a un león en medio de un pozo en tiempo de nieve.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he smote the two altar-hearths of Moab; he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow;
21 Mató a un egipcio enorme, y el egipcio tenía una lanza en la mano; pero él bajó hacia él con un bastón y arrancó la lanza de la mano del egipcio, y lo mató con su propia lanza.
and he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man; and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
22 Benaía, hijo de Joiada, hizo estas cosas y tuvo un nombre entre los tres valientes.
These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.
23 Era más honorable que los treinta, pero no llegó a los tres. David lo puso al frente de su guardia.
He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
24 Asael hermano de Joab era uno de los treinta: Elhanan hijo de Dodo de Belén,
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem;
25 Samma de Harod, Elika de Harod,
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite;
26 Helez de Palti, Ira hijo de Ikkesh de Teko,
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite;
27 Abiezer de Anatot, Mebunnai de Hushat,
Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite;
28 Zalmón ahohita, Maharai netofatita,
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite;
29 Heleb hijo de Baana netofatita, Ittai hijo de Ribai de Gabaa de los hijos de Benjamín,
Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin;
30 Benaía piratonita, Hiddai de los arroyos de Gaas.
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of Nahale-gaash;
31 Abialbón arbateo, Azmaveth barhumita,
Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite;
32 Eliahba saalbonita, los hijos de Jasén, Jonatán,
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan;
33 Shammah hararita, Ahiam hijo de Sharar ararita,
Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite;
34 Eliphelet hijo de Ahasbai, hijo del maacateo, Eliam hijo de Ajitofel gilonita,
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite;
35 Hezro el carmelita, Paarai el arbita,
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite;
36 Igal hijo de Natán de Soba, Bani el gadita,
Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite;
37 Zelek el amonita, Naharai el beerotita, portadores de armaduras de Joab hijo de Sarvia,
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armour-bearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah;
38 Ira el itrita, Gareb el itrita,
Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite;
39 y Urías el hitita: treinta y siete en total.
Uriah the Hittite. Thirty and seven in all.
