2 Reyes 21

1 Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y cinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Hefzibá.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah.

2 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, según las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé arrojó delante de los hijos de Israel.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, after the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

3 Porque volvió a edificar los lugares altos que Ezequías, su padre, había destruido; levantó altares para Baal e hizo una Asera, como hizo Ajab, rey de Israel, y adoró a todo el ejército del cielo, y les sirvió.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he raised up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel did, and worshipped all the army of the sky, and served them.

4 Edificó altares en la casa de Yahvé, de la cual Yahvé dijo: “Pondré mi nombre en Jerusalén”.

He built altars in the LORD’s house, of which the LORD said, “I will put my name in Jerusalem.”

5 Construyó altares para todo el ejército del cielo en los dos atrios de la casa de Yahvé.

He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of the LORD’s house.

6 Hizo pasar a su hijo por el fuego, practicó la hechicería, usó encantamientos y trató con los que tenían espíritus familiares y con los magos. Hizo mucho mal a los ojos de Yahvé, para provocarlo a la ira.

He made his son to pass through the fire, practised sorcery, used enchantments, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits and with wizards. He did much evil in the LORD’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

7 Puso la imagen grabada de Asera que había hecho en la casa de la que Yahvé dijo a David y a Salomón su hijo: “En esta casa y en Jerusalén, que he elegido de entre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre;

He set the engraved image of Asherah that he had made in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever;

8 no haré que los pies de Israel vuelvan a errar fuera de la tierra que di a sus padres, con tal de que observen hacer todo lo que les he mandado, y toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés les mandó.”

I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”

9 Pero ellos no escucharon, y Manasés los sedujo para que hicieran lo que es malo, más de lo que hicieron las naciones que Yahvé destruyó antes de los hijos de Israel.

But they didn’t listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do that which is evil more than the nations did whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Yahvé habló por medio de sus siervos los profetas, diciendo:

The LORD spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,

11 “Por cuanto Manasés, rey de Judá, ha hecho estas abominaciones, y ha hecho maldades mayores que las que hicieron los amorreos que fueron antes de él, y también ha hecho pecar a Judá con sus ídolos;

“Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has also made Judah to sin with his idols;

12 por tanto, Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice: He aquí que yo traigo tal mal sobre Jerusalén y sobre Judá, que al que lo oiga le hormiguearán ambos oídos.

therefore the LORD the God of Israel says, ‘Behold, I will bring such evil on Jerusalem and Judah that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.

13 Extenderé sobre Jerusalén la línea de Samaria y la plomada de la casa de Acab; y limpiaré a Jerusalén como se limpia un plato, limpiándolo y poniéndolo boca abajo.

I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plumb line of Ahab’s house; and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.

14 Desecharé el remanente de mi herencia y lo entregaré en manos de sus enemigos. Se convertirán en presa y botín de todos sus enemigos,

I will cast off the remnant of my inheritance and deliver them into the hands of their enemies. They will become a prey and a plunder to all their enemies,

15 porque han hecho lo que es malo ante mis ojos, y me han provocado a la ira desde el día en que sus padres salieron de Egipto, hasta hoy.’”

because they have done that which is evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.’”

16 Además, Manasés derramó mucha sangre inocente, hasta llenar Jerusalén de un extremo a otro; además de su pecado con el que hizo pecar a Judá, al hacer lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé.

Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; in addition to his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.

17 El resto de los hechos de Manasés, y todo lo que hizo, y su pecado que cometió, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18 Manasés durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado en el jardín de su casa, en el jardín de Uza; y su hijo Amón reinó en su lugar.

Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

19 Amón tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dos años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Mesulmet, hija de Haruz de Jotba.

Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, como lo hizo su padre Manasés.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, as Manasseh his father did.

21 Anduvo en todos los caminos en que anduvo su padre, y sirvió a los ídolos que su padre servía, y los adoró;

He walked in all the ways that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them;

22 y abandonó a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, y no anduvo en el camino de Yahvé.

and he abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and didn’t walk in the way of the LORD.

23 Los servidores de Amón conspiraron contra él y mataron al rey en su propia casa.

The servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.

24 Pero el pueblo del país mató a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón, y el pueblo del país hizo rey a su hijo Josías en su lugar.

But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

25 Los demás hechos de Amón, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26 Fue enterrado en su tumba en el jardín de Uza, y su hijo Josías reinó en su lugar.

He was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza, and Josiah his son reigned in his place.
