2 Reyes 14

1 En el segundo año de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá.

In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.

2 Tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Joaquín de Jerusalén.

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

3 Hizo lo que era justo a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no como David, su padre. Hizo conforme a todo lo que había hecho su padre Joás.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

4 Sin embargo, los lugares altos no fueron quitados. El pueblo seguía sacrificando y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.

However, the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.

5 Tan pronto como el reino fue establecido en su mano, mató a sus siervos que habían matado al rey su padre,

And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.

6 pero a los hijos de los asesinos no los mató, según lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, como lo ordenó Yahvé, diciendo: “Los padres no morirán por los hijos, ni los hijos morirán por los padres; sino que cada uno morirá por su propio pecado.”

But the children of the murderers he slew not: according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

7 Mató a diez mil edomitas en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó Sela por la guerra, y llamó su nombre Joktheel, hasta el día de hoy.

He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel to this day.

8 Entonces Amasías envió mensajeros a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciéndole: “Ven, mirémonos a la cara”.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

9 Joás, rey de Israel, envió a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: “El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: ‘Dale tu hija a mi hijo como esposa’. Entonces pasó un animal salvaje que estaba en el Líbano y pisoteó el cardo.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and stepped down the thistle.

10 Ciertamente has golpeado a Edom, y tu corazón te ha levantado. Disfruta de su gloria, y quédate en casa; pues, ¿por qué has de entrometerte para tu mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?”

You have indeed smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?

11 Pero Amasías no quiso escuchar. Entonces subió Joás, rey de Israel, y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se miraron a la cara en Bet Semes, que es de Judá.

But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongs to Judah.

12 Judá fue derrotado por Israel, y cada uno huyó a su tienda.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.

13 Joás, rey de Israel, apresó a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet Semes, y llegó a Jerusalén; luego derribó el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

14 Tomó todo el oro y la plata y todos los utensilios que se encontraban en la casa de Yahvé y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, también los rehenes, y regresó a Samaria.

And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

15 Los demás hechos de Joás, y su poderío, y cómo luchó con Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

16 Joás durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Jeroboam reinó en su lugar.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

17 Amasías hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, quince años.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

18 Los demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 Hicieron una conspiración contra él en Jerusalén, y él huyó a Laquis; pero enviaron tras él a Laquis y lo mataron allí.

Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

20 Lo llevaron a caballo, y fue enterrado en Jerusalén con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.

And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 Todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Azarías, que tenía dieciséis años, y lo nombró rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

22 Él edificó Elat y se la devolvió a Judá. Después de eso el rey durmió con sus padres.

He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

23 En el año quince de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar en Samaria durante cuarenta y un años.

In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

24 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé. No se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, con los que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

25 Restauró la frontera de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar del Arabá, según la palabra de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, que habló por medio de su siervo Jonás, hijo de Amittai, el profeta, que era de Gat Hefer.

He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath to the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.

26 Porque Yahvé vio la aflicción de Israel, que era muy amarga para todos, esclavos y libres; y no había quien ayudara a Israel.

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

27 El Señor no dijo que borraría el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo, sino que lo salvó por la mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 El resto de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, y su poderío, cómo luchó y cómo recuperó para Israel Damasco y Hamat, que habían pertenecido a Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

29 Jeroboam durmió con sus padres, con los reyes de Israel, y su hijo Zacarías reinó en su lugar.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
