2 Reyes 13

1 En el año veintitrés de Joás hijo de Ocozías, rey de Judá, Joacaz hijo de Jehú comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria durante diecisiete años.

In the three and twentieth yeere of Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah King of Iudah, Iehoahaz the sonne of Iehu began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seuenteene yeere.

2 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y siguió los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, con los que hizo pecar a Israel. No se apartó de él.

And he did euil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

3 La ira de Yahvé se encendió contra Israel y lo entregó continuamente en manos de Hazael, rey de Siria, y en manos de Benhadad, hijo de Hazael.

And the Lord was angry with Israel, and deliuered them into the hand of Hazael King of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael, all his dayes.

4 Joacaz le rogó a Yahvé, y Yahvé lo escuchó, porque vio la opresión de Israel, cómo lo oprimía el rey de Siria.

And Iehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the trouble of Israel, wherewith the King of Aram troubled them.

5 (Yahvé dio a Israel un salvador, de modo que salieron de la mano de los sirios; y los hijos de Israel vivieron en sus tiendas como antes.

(And the Lord gaue Israel a deliuerer, so that they came out from vnder the subiection of the Aramites. And the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before time.

6 Sin embargo, no se apartaron de los pecados de la casa de Jeroboam, con los que él hizo pecar a Israel, sino que anduvieron en ellos; y también la Asera permaneció en Samaria).

Neuerthelesse they departed not from the sinnes of the house of Ieroboam which made Israel sinne, but walked in them. euen the groue also remayned still in Samaria)

7 Porque no dejó a Joacaz del pueblo más que cincuenta jinetes, diez carros y diez mil hombres de a pie, porque el rey de Siria los destruyó y los hizo como el polvo en la trilla.

For he had left of the people to Iehoahaz but fiftie horsemen, and tenne charets, and tenne thousand footemen, because the King of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to pouder.

8 Los demás hechos de Joacaz, y todo lo que hizo, y su poderío, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoahaz and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

9 Joacaz durmió con sus padres, y lo enterraron en Samaria; y su hijo Joás reinó en su lugar.

And Iehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Ioash his sonne reigned in his steade.

10 En el año treinta y siete de Joás, rey de Judá, Joás, hijo de Joacaz, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria durante dieciséis años.

In the seuen and thirtieth yere of Ioash King of Iudah began Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteene yeere,

11 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé. No se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, con los que hizo pecar a Israel, sino que anduvo en ellos.

And did euil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat that made Israel to sinne, but he walked therein.

12 El resto de los hechos de Joás, y todo lo que hizo, y su poderío con el que luchó contra Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioash and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought against Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

13 Joás durmió con sus padres, y Jeroboam se sentó en su trono. Joás fue enterrado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel.

And Ioash slept with his fathers, and Ieroboam sate vpon his seate: and Ioash was buryed in Samaria among the Kings of Israel.

14 Eliseo enfermó de la enfermedad de la que murió, y Joás, el rey de Israel, bajó a verlo y lloró por él, diciendo: “¡Padre mío, padre mío, los carros de Israel y su caballería!”

When Elisha fell sicke of his sickenesse whereof he dyed, Ioash the King of Israel came downe vnto him, and wept vpon his face, and sayd, O my father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen of the same.

15 Eliseo le dijo: “Toma el arco y las flechas”; y él tomó el arco y las flechas para sí.

Then Elisha sayde vnto him, Take a bowe and arrowes. And he tooke vnto him bowe and arrowes.

16 Le dijo al rey de Israel: “Pon tu mano sobre el arco”; y él puso su mano sobre él. Eliseo puso sus manos sobre las manos del rey.

And he sayde to the King of Israel, Put thine hand vpon the bowe. And he put his hand vpon it. And Elisha put his hands vpon the Kings hands,

17 Dijo: “Abre la ventana hacia el este”, y él la abrió. Entonces Eliseo dijo: “Dispara”, y disparó. Dijo: “La flecha de la victoria de Yahvé, la flecha de la victoria sobre Siria; porque herirás a los sirios en Afec hasta consumirlos”.

And saide, Open the windowe Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoote. And he shot. And he sayd, Beholde the arrowe of the Lordes deliuerance and the arrowe of deliuerance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

18 Dijo: “Toma las flechas”, y él las tomó. Dijo al rey de Israel: “Golpea el suelo”, y él golpeó tres veces, y se detuvo.

Againe he said, Take the arrowes. And he tooke them. And he sayde vnto the King of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrise, and ceased.

19 El hombre de Dios se enojó con él y dijo: “Deberías haber golpeado cinco o seis veces. Entonces habrías golpeado a Siria hasta consumirla, pero ahora sólo golpearás a Siria tres veces”.

Then the man of God was angry with him, and sayde, Thou shouldest haue smitten fiue or sixe times, so thou shouldest haue smitten Aram, till thou haddest consumed it, where nowe thou shalt smite Aram but thrise.

20 Eliseo murió y lo enterraron. Las bandas de moabitas invadieron el país al llegar el año.

So Elisha dyed, and they buryed him. And certaine bandes of the Moabites came into the land that yeere.

21 Mientras enterraban a un hombre, vieron una banda de asaltantes, y arrojaron al hombre en la tumba de Eliseo. En cuanto el hombre tocó los huesos de Eliseo, revivió y se puso de pie.

And as they were burying a man, behold, they saw the souldiers: therfore they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha. And when the man was downe, and touched the bones of Elisha, he reuiued and stoode vpon his feete.

22 Hazael, rey de Siria, oprimió a Israel durante todos los días de Joacaz.

But Hazael King of Aram vexed Israel all the dayes of Iehoahaz.

23 Pero Yahvé tuvo misericordia de ellos y se compadeció de ellos, y los favoreció a causa de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y no los destruyó y no los echó de su presencia todavía.

Therefore the Lord had mercy on them and pitied them, and had respect vnto them because of his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from him as yet.

24 Murió Hazael, rey de Siria, y reinó en su lugar Benhadad, su hijo.

So Hazael the King of Aram dyed: and Ben-hadad his sonne reigned in his stead.

25 Joás, hijo de Joacaz, volvió a tomar de la mano de Benhadad, hijo de Hazael, las ciudades que había tomado de la mano de su padre Joacaz mediante la guerra. Joás lo golpeó tres veces, y recuperó las ciudades de Israel.

Therefore Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz returned, and tooke out of the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael the cities which he had taken away by warre out of the hand of Iehoahaz his father: for three times did Ioash beate him, and restored the cities vnto Israel.
