1 Samuel 24
1 Cuando Saúl volvió de seguir a los filisteos, le dijeron: “He aquí que David está en el desierto de En Gedi”.
It happened, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, "Look, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi."
2 Entonces Saúl tomó a tres mil hombres escogidos de todo Israel y fue a buscar a David y a sus hombres a las rocas de las cabras salvajes.
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.
3 Llegó a los corrales de las ovejas junto al camino, donde había una cueva, y Saúl entró a hacer sus necesidades. David y sus hombres se encontraban en lo más recóndito de la cueva.
He came to the sheep pens by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.
4 Los hombres de David le dijeron: “He aquí el día del que Yahvé te dijo: ‘He aquí que entregaré a tu enemigo en tu mano, y harás con él lo que te parezca’”. Entonces David se levantó y cortó en secreto la falda del manto de Saúl.
The men of David said to him, "Look, the day of which YHWH said to you, 'Look, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose, and cut off an edge of Saul's robe secretly.
5 Después, el corazón de David se conmovió porque había cortado la falda de Saúl.
It happened afterward, that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off an edge of Saul's robe.
6 Dijo a sus hombres: “No permita Yahvé que le haga esto a mi señor, el ungido de Yahvé, que extienda mi mano contra él, ya que es el ungido de Yahvé.”
He said to his men, "YHWH forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, YHWH's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, since he is YHWH's anointed."
7 Así que David controló a sus hombres con estas palabras, y no permitió que se levantaran contra Saúl. Saúl se levantó de la cueva y siguió su camino.
So David restrained his men with these words and did not allow them to rise against Saul. And Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
8 David también se levantó después, salió de la cueva y gritó tras Saúl, diciendo: “¡Mi señor el rey!” Cuando Saúl miró hacia atrás, David se inclinó con el rostro hacia la tierra, y mostró respeto.
Afterward David also arose and went out of the cave, and called after Saul, saying, "My lord the king." When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and showed respect.
9 David dijo a Saúl: “¿Por qué escuchas las palabras de los hombres, que dicen: ‘He aquí que David busca hacerte daño’?
David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Look, David seeks your harm?'
10 He aquí que tus ojos han visto cómo el Señor te ha entregado hoy en mi mano en la cueva. Algunos me instaron a matarte, pero te perdoné. Dije: ‘No extenderé mi mano contra mi señor, porque es el ungido de Yahvé’.
Look, this day your eyes have seen how that YHWH had delivered you today into my hand in the cave, but I refused to kill you, and my eye spared you; and I said, 'I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is YHWH's anointed.'
11 Además, padre mío, mira, sí, mira la falda de tu manto en mi mano; porque en que corté la falda de tu manto y no te maté, conoce y ve que no hay maldad ni desobediencia en mi mano. No he pecado contra ti, aunque persigas mi vida para quitármela.
Moreover, my father, look, yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it.
12 Que Yahvé juzgue entre tú y yo, y que Yahvé me vengue de ti; pero mi mano no estará sobre ti.
May YHWH judge between me and you, and may YHWH avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be on you.
13 Como dice el proverbio de los antiguos: “De los impíos sale la maldad”; pero mi mano no estará sobre ti.
As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness;' but my hand shall not be on you.
14 ¿Contra quién ha salido el rey de Israel? ¿A quién persigue? ¿A un perro muerto? ¿Una pulga?
Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, or one flea?
15 Sea, pues, Yahvé el juez, y dicte sentencia entre tú y yo, y vea, y defienda mi causa, y me libre de tu mano.”
May YHWH therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you. May he see and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand."
16 Cuando David terminó de decir estas palabras a Saúl, éste dijo: “¿Es esa tu voz, hijo mío David?” Saúl alzó la voz y lloró.
It came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, "Is this your voice, my son David?" Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
17 Dijo a David: “Tú eres más justo que yo, pues me has hecho bien, mientras que yo te he hecho mal.
He said to David, "You are more righteous than I; for you have done good to me, whereas I have done evil to you.
18 Hoy has declarado cómo me has tratado bien, porque cuando Yahvé me entregó en tu mano, no me mataste.
And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that YHWH had delivered me up into your hand and you did not kill me.
19 Porque si un hombre encuentra a su enemigo, ¿lo dejará ir ileso? Por eso, que el Señor te recompense bien por lo que has hecho hoy conmigo.
For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may YHWH reward you good for that which you have done this day.
20 Ahora bien, yo sé que ciertamente serás rey, y que el reino de Israel será establecido en tu mano.
Now, look, I know that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.
21 Júrame, pues, por Yahvé que no cortarás mi descendencia después de mí, y que no destruirás mi nombre de la casa de mi padre.”
Swear now therefore to me by YHWH, that you will not cut off my descendants after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house."
22 David juró a Saúl. Saúl se fue a su casa, pero David y sus hombres subieron a la fortaleza.
David swore to Saul. Saul went home; but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
