1 Reyes 16

1 La palabra de Yahvé vino a Jehú hijo de Hanani contra Baasa, diciendo:

And the word of Jehovah came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

2 “Por cuanto te exalté del polvo y te hice príncipe de mi pueblo Israel, y has andado en el camino de Jeroboam y has hecho pecar a mi pueblo Israel, para provocarme a la ira con sus pecados,

Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

3 he aquí que yo barreré por completo a Baasa y a su casa; y pondré tu casa como la casa de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat.

behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house, and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

4 Los perros se comerán a los descendientes de Baasa que mueran en la ciudad; y al que muera de los suyos en el campo, se lo comerán las aves del cielo.”

He of Baasha who dies in the city shall the dogs eat, and he of his who dies in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat.

5 El resto de los hechos de Baasa, lo que hizo y su poderío, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

6 Baasa durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado en Tirsa, y su hijo Ela reinó en su lugar.

And Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

7 Además, la palabra de Yahvé vino por medio del profeta Jehú, hijo de Hanani, contra Baasa y contra su casa, tanto por todo el mal que hizo ante los ojos de Yahvé, para provocarlo a la ira con la obra de sus manos, al ser como la casa de Jeroboam, como porque lo golpeó.

And moreover the word of Jehovah came against Baasha by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani, and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he smote him.

8 En el año veintiséis de Asa, rey de Judá, Ela hijo de Baasa comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Tirsa durante dos años.

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah, and reigned two years.

9 Su siervo Zimri, capitán de la mitad de sus carros, conspiró contra él. Él estaba en Tirsa, emborrachándose en la casa de Arza, que estaba al frente de la casa en Tirsa;

And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah.

10 y Zimri entró, lo golpeó y lo mató en el año veintisiete de Asá, rey de Judá, y reinó en su lugar.

And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

11 Cuando comenzó a reinar, apenas se sentó en su trono, atacó a toda la casa de Baasa. No le dejó ni un solo que orinara en una pared entre sus parientes o sus amigos.

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha. He left him not a single man-child, neither of his kinfolks, nor of his friends.

12 Así destruyó Zimri toda la casa de Baasa, según la palabra de Yahvé que habló contra Baasa por medio del profeta Jehú,

Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,

13 por todos los pecados de Baasa y los pecados de Elá, su hijo, que cometieron y con los que hicieron pecar a Israel, para provocar la ira de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, con sus vanidades.

for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned, and with which they made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.

14 El resto de los hechos de Elá y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15 En el año veintisiete de Asa, rey de Judá, Zimri reinó siete días en Tirsa. El pueblo estaba acampado frente a Gibbetón, que pertenecía a los filisteos.

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

16 El pueblo que estaba acampado oyó que Zimri había conspirado y que también había matado al rey. Por eso todo Israel nombró aquel día en el campamento a Omri, capitán del ejército, como rey de Israel.

And the people who were encamped heard say, Zimri has conspired, and has also smitten the king. Therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp.

17 Omri subió desde Gibbetón, y todo Israel con él, y sitiaron Tirsa.

And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

18 Cuando Zimri vio que la ciudad estaba tomada, entró en la parte fortificada de la casa del rey y quemó la casa del rey sobre él con fuego, y murió,

And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the castle of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire,

19 por sus pecados que cometió al hacer lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, al andar en el camino de Jeroboam, y por su pecado que hizo para hacer pecar a Israel.

and died for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin.

20 El resto de los hechos de Zimri y la traición que cometió, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

21 Entonces el pueblo de Israel se dividió en dos partes: la mitad del pueblo seguía a Tibni hijo de Ginat, para hacerlo rey, y la otra mitad seguía a Omri.

Then the people of Israel were divided into two parts; half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king, and half followed Omri.

22 Pero el pueblo que seguía a Omri se impuso al pueblo que seguía a Tibni hijo de Ginat; así que Tibni murió, y Omri reinó.

But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni the son of Ginath. So Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

23 En el año treinta y uno de Asá, rey de Judá, Omri comenzó a reinar sobre Israel durante doce años. Reinó seis años en Tirsa.

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel, and reigned twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah.

24 Compró la colina de Samaria a Semer por dos talentos de plata; y edificó en la colina, y llamó el nombre de la ciudad que edificó, Samaria, por el nombre de Semer, el dueño de la colina.

And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver. And he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, Samaria.

25 Omri hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y actuó con maldad por encima de todos los que fueron antes de él.

And Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him.

26 Porque anduvo en todo el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, y en sus pecados con que hizo pecar a Israel, para provocar la ira de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, con sus vanidades.

For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.

27 El resto de los hechos de Omri que hizo, y su poderío que mostró, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

28 Omri durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado en Samaria, y su hijo Acab reinó en su lugar.

So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.

29 En el año treinta y ocho de Asá, rey de Judá, Ajab, hijo de Omri, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel. Ajab hijo de Omri reinó sobre Israel en Samaria veintidós años.

And in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel. And Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.

30 Ajab hijo de Omri hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé por encima de todos los que lo precedieron.

And Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah above all who were before him.

31 Como si le pareciera poco andar en los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, tomó por esposa a Jezabel, hija de Etbaal, rey de los sidonios, y fue a servir a Baal y a adorarlo.

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him.

32 Levantó un altar para Baal en la casa de Baal que había construido en Samaria.

And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

33 Ajab hizo la Asera; y aún hizo Ajab más para provocar la ira de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, que todos los reyes de Israel que fueron antes de él.

And Ahab made the Asherah. And Ahab did yet more to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

34 En sus días, Hiel el betelita construyó Jericó. Puso sus cimientos con la pérdida de Abiram, su primogénito, y levantó sus puertas con la pérdida de su hijo menor, Segub, según la palabra de Yahvé, que habló por medio de Josué, hijo de Nun.

In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho. He laid the foundation of it with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates of it with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.
