1 Reyes 14

1 En aquel tiempo Abías, hijo de Jeroboam, enfermó.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2 Jeroboam le dijo a su esposa: “Por favor, levántate y disfrázate para que no te reconozcan como la esposa de Jeroboam. Ve a Silo. Allí está el profeta Ahías, que dijo que yo sería rey de este pueblo.

Jeroboam said to his wife, "Please get up and disguise yourself, that you won't be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Go to Shiloh. Look, there is Ahijah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

3 Toma contigo diez panes, algunas tortas y un tarro de miel, y ve a él. Él te dirá qué será del niño”.

Take with you ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child."

4 La mujer de Jeroboam lo hizo, y se levantó y fue a Silo, y llegó a la casa de Ahías. Ajías no podía ver, pues tenía los ojos entornados a causa de su edad.

Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 El Señor le dijo a Ajías: “Mira, la mujer de Jeroboam viene a preguntarte por su hijo, porque está enfermo. Dile que tal y tal; porque será, cuando venga, que se hará pasar por otra mujer.”

YHWH said to Ahijah, "Look, the wife of Jeroboam comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall tell her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman."

6 Cuando Ahías oyó el ruido de sus pies al entrar por la puerta, dijo: “¡Entra, mujer de Jeroboam! ¿Por qué te haces pasar por otra? Porque he sido enviado a ti con noticias pesadas.

It was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, "Come in, you wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

7 Ve y dile a Jeroboam: “Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice “Porque te exalté de entre el pueblo y te hice príncipe de mi pueblo Israel,

Go, tell Jeroboam, 'Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel: "Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

8 y arranqué el reino de la casa de David y te lo di a ti y sin embargo no has sido como mi siervo David, que guardó mis mandamientos y me siguió con todo su corazón, para hacer sólo lo que era justo a mis ojos,

and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

9 sino que has hecho lo malo por encima de todos los que fueron antes de ti, y has ido a hacerte otros dioses, imágenes de fundición, para provocarme a la ira y me has echado a tus espaldas,

but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made you other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back:

10 por tanto, he aquí que yo traeré el mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam, y cortaré de Jeroboam a todo el que orine en una pared, al que esté encerrado y al que quede suelto en Israel, y barreré totalmente la casa de Jeroboam, como se barre el estiércol hasta que desaparezca todo.

therefore, look, I will bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, until it is all gone.

11 Los perros se comerán al de Jeroboam que muera en la ciudad, y las aves del cielo se comerán al que muera en el campo, porque Yahvé lo ha dicho”.

He who dies of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and he who dies in the field shall the birds of the sky eat: for YHWH has spoken it."'

12 Levántate, pues, y vete a tu casa. Cuando tus pies entren en la ciudad, el niño morirá.

Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 Todo Israel lo llorará y lo enterrará, porque sólo el de Jeroboam llegará a la tumba, porque en él se ha encontrado algo bueno para Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, en la casa de Jeroboam.

All Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward YHWH, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Además, Yahvé suscitará para sí un rey sobre Israel, que eliminará la casa de Jeroboam. ¡Este es el día! ¿Qué? Ahora mismo.

Moreover YHWH will raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is day. What? Even now.

15 Porque Yahvé golpeará a Israel, como se agita una caña en el agua; y desarraigará a Israel de esta buena tierra que dio a sus padres, y los dispersará más allá del río, porque han hecho sus postes de Asera, provocando la ira de Yahvé.

For YHWH will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking YHWH to anger.

16 Entregará a Israel a causa de los pecados de Jeroboam, que ha cometido y con los que ha hecho pecar a Israel.”

He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin."

17 La mujer de Jeroboam se levantó y partió, y llegó a Tirsa. Al llegar al umbral de la casa, el niño murió.

Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 Todo Israel lo enterró y lo lloró, según la palabra de Yahvé, que habló por medio de su siervo el profeta Ahías.

All Israel buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of YHWH, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Los demás hechos de Jeroboam, cómo luchó y cómo reinó, he aquí que están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, look, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 Los días que reinó Jeroboam fueron veintidós años; luego durmió con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Nadab, su hijo.

The days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

21 Roboam, hijo de Salomón, reinó en Judá. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había elegido de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner su nombre en ella. Su madre se llamaba Naamah la amonita.

Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which YHWH had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

22 Judá hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y lo provocaron a celos con los pecados que cometieron, más allá de todo lo que habían hecho sus padres.

Judah did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 Porque también se construyeron lugares altos, pilares sagrados y postes de Asera en todo cerro alto y debajo de todo árbol verde.

For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;

24 También había sodomitas en la tierra. Hicieron según todas las abominaciones de las naciones que Yahvé expulsó ante los hijos de Israel.

and there were also male shrine prostitutes in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which YHWH drove out before the children of Israel.

25 En el quinto año del rey Roboam, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén;

It happened in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

26 y se llevó los tesoros de la casa de Yahvé y los tesoros de la casa real. Incluso se llevó todo, incluyendo todos los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.

and he took away the treasures of the house of YHWH, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 El rey Roboam hizo escudos de bronce en su lugar, y los encomendó a los capitanes de la guardia que guardaban la puerta de la casa del rey.

King Rehoboam made in their place shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

28 Y cada vez que el rey entraba en la casa del rey, la guardia los llevaba y los traía a la sala de guardia.

It was so, that as often as the king went into the house of YHWH, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

29 Los demás hechos de Roboam, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam continuamente.

There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

31 Roboam durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado con ellos en la ciudad de David. Su madre se llamaba Naamah la amonita. Su hijo Abijam reinó en su lugar.

Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David: and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
