1 Corintios 14

1 Seguid el amor y desead fervientemente los dones espirituales, pero sobre todo que profeticéis.

Labour after charity, and be desirous of spiritual gifts: but especially that ye may prophesy.

2 Porque el que habla en otra lengua no habla a los hombres, sino a Dios, pues nadie entiende, pero en el Espíritu habla misterios.

For he, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no one understandeth, though in spirit he speaketh mysteries.

3 Pero el que profetiza habla a los hombres para su edificación, exhortación y consuelo.

But he, that prophesieth, speaketh edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.

4 El que habla en otra lengua se edifica a sí mismo, pero el que profetiza edifica a la asamblea.

He, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself: but he, that prophesieth, edifieth the church.

5 Ahora bien, deseo que todos vosotros habléis con otras lenguas, pero más aún que profeticéis. Porque es mayor el que profetiza que el que habla con otras lenguas, si no interpreta, para que la asamblea sea edificada.

I could wish that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edification.

6 Pero ahora, hermanos, si voy a vosotros hablando con otras lenguas, ¿de qué os serviría si no os hablara por medio de la revelación, o del conocimiento, o de la profecía, o de la enseñanza?

Now, my brethren, if I come to you speaking with many tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak intelligibly to you of revelation, or knowledge, or prophecy, or doctrine?

7 Incluso las cosas sin vida que hacen ruido, ya sea pipa o arpa, si no dieran una distinción en los sonidos, ¿cómo se sabría lo que se toca con pipa o con arpa?

As inanimate things which give a found, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall what is piped or harped be understood?

8 Porque si la trompeta diera un sonido incierto, ¿quién se prepararía para la guerra?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?

9 Así también vosotros, si no pronunciarais por la lengua palabras fáciles de entender, ¿cómo se sabría lo que se habla? Porque estarías hablando en el aire.

So also unless ye utter by the tongue intelligible words, how shall what is spoken be understood? for thus ye will be only talking to the wind.

10 Es posible que haya tantas clases de lenguas en el mundo, y ninguna de ellas carece de significado.

There are, it may be, as many kinds of voices in the world as people, and none of them insignificant.

11 Si, pues, no conozco el significado de la lengua, sería para el que habla un extranjero, y el que habla sería un extranjero para mí.

But if I know not the force of the words, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian to me.

12 Así también vosotros, ya que sois celosos de los dones espirituales, procurad abundar para la edificación de la asamblea.

So ye also, since ye are so desirous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound in them to the edification of the church.

13 Por tanto, el que habla en otra lengua, ore para que pueda interpretar.

Wherefore let him, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret.

14 Porque si oro en otra lengua, mi espíritu ora, pero mi entendimiento es infructuoso.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit indeed prayeth, but my meaning is fruitless.

15 ¿Qué debo hacer? Oraré con el espíritu, y oraré también con el entendimiento. Cantaré con el espíritu, y cantaré también con el entendimiento.

What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.

16 De lo contrario, si bendices con el espíritu, ¿cómo dirá el que ocupa el lugar de los indoctos el “Amén” a tu acción de gracias, ya que no sabe lo que dices?

For if thou bless in the spirit, how shall the unlearned say Amen to thy thanksgiving, when he knoweth not what thou sayst?

17 Porque ciertamente tú das las gracias bien, pero el otro no está edificado.

thou indeed givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

18 Doy gracias a mi Dios porque hablo con otras lenguas más que todos vosotros.

I thank God, I speak with tongues more than you all.

19 Sin embargo, en la asamblea prefiero hablar cinco palabras con mi entendimiento, para instruir también a los demás, que diez mil palabras en otra lengua.

But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

20 Hermanos, no seáis niños en los pensamientos, pero en la malicia sed bebés, pero en los pensamientos sed maduros.

My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men.

21 En la ley está escrito: “Por hombres de lenguas extrañas y por labios de extraños hablaré a este pueblo. Ni siquiera me escucharán así, dice el Señor”.

It is written in the law, "By men of another language, and by other lips, will I speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me, saith the Lord."

22 Por tanto, las lenguas extrañas sirven de señal, no para los que creen, sino para los incrédulos; pero la profecía sirve de señal, no para los incrédulos, sino para los que creen.

So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecy not to unbelievers but to those that believe.

23 Por tanto, si toda la asamblea está reunida y todos hablan con otras lenguas, y entran personas indoctas o incrédulas, ¿no dirán que estáis locos?

If then the whole church be come together and all speak in unknown tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say that ye are mad?

24 Pero si todos profetizan, y entra alguien incrédulo o indocto, es reprendido por todos, y es juzgado por todos.

But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all.

25 Y así se revelan los secretos de su corazón. Entonces se postrará sobre su rostro y adorará a Dios, declarando que Dios está realmente entre vosotros.

And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.

26 ¿Qué es, pues, hermanos? Cuando os reunís, cada uno de vosotros tiene un salmo, tiene una enseñanza, tiene una revelación, tiene otra lengua o tiene una interpretación. Hacedlo todo para edificaros mutuamente.

What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation, ---let all be done for edification.

27 Si alguno habla en otra lengua, que sean dos, o a lo sumo tres, y por turno, y que uno interprete.

And if any one speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by turns; and let one interpret.

28 Pero si no hay intérprete, que guarde silencio en la asamblea, y que hable para sí mismo y para Dios.

But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the assembly; and let him speak to himself and to God.

29 Que hablen dos o tres de los profetas, y que los demás disciernan.

And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge.

30 Pero si se hace una revelación a otro que esté sentado, que el primero guarde silencio.

And if any thing be revealed to another sitting by, let the first have done speaking before the other begins.

31 Porque todos pueden profetizar uno por uno, para que todos aprendan y todos sean exhortados.

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 Los espíritus de los profetas están sujetos a los profetas,

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets:

33 porque Dios no es un Dios de confusión, sino de paz, como en todas las asambleas de los santos.

for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all the assemblies of the saints.

34 Que las esposas guarden silencio en las asambleas, pues no se les ha permitido hablar sino con sumisión, como dice también la ley,

Let your women be silent in your assemblies: for it is not permitted to them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as the law saith.

35 si desean aprender algo. “Que pregunten a sus propios maridos en casa, porque es vergonzoso que una esposa esté hablando en la asamblea.”

And if they would learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it does not become women to speak in a public assembly.

36 ¿Qué? ¿Salió de ti la palabra de Dios? ¿O solo a vosotros ha llegado?

Did the word of God come out first from you? or did it come to you only?

37 Si alguno se cree profeta o espiritual, que reconozca las cosas que os escribo, que son mandamiento del Señor.

If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

38 Pero si alguien es ignorante, que sea ignorante.

But if any will be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

39 Por lo tanto, hermanos, desead con ahínco profetizar, y no prohibáis hablar con otras lenguas.

Wherefore, my brethren, be most desirous to prophesy, and yet forbid not to speak with tongues:

40 Que todo se haga decentemente y en orden.

but let all things be done decently and in order.
