< Proverbios 28 >

1 Huye el impío sin que nadie le persiga; el justo, como león, se siente seguro.
The wicked flee when no man pursues: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2 Por sus pecados un país tiene muchos gobernantes, pero uno, sabio y prudente, hace el orden estable.
For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
3 El pobre que oprime a los pobres, es como una lluvia que arrastra todo y trae carestía.
A poor man that oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which left no food.
4 Los que abandonan la Ley, alaban al malvado; los que la guardan, contra él se indignan.
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5 Los malos no entienden lo que es justo; pero quien busca a Yahvé lo entiende todo.
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
6 Más vale un pobre que vive rectamente, que un acaudalado de perversas costumbres.
Better is the poor that walks in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
7 El que observa la Ley es hijo prudente: mas quien es compañero de comilones deshonra a su padre.
Whoso keeps the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shames his father.
8 Quien con logro y usura aumenta sus riquezas, las acumula para el que tiene compasión de los pobres.
He that by interest and unjust gain increases his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9 El que aparta su oído para no oír la Ley, su misma oración es objeto de maldición.
He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
10 Quien extravía a buenos llevándolos por malas sendas caerá él mismo en su propia fosa, y los buenos heredarán sus bienes.
Whoso causes the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
11 El rico se tiene por sabio; pero un pobre inteligente le quita la máscara.
The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that has understanding searches him out.
12 Cuando triunfan los justos hay gran gloria, pero cuando se encumbran los malos, se esconden todos.
When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13 El que encubre sus pecados no prosperará, mas el que los confiesa y abandona, conseguirá perdón.
He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.
14 Bienaventurado el hombre que anda siempre temeroso; los de duro corazón caen en el mal.
Happy is the man that fears always: but he that hardens his heart shall fall into mischief.
15 León rugiente y oso hambriento, tal es un príncipe malo, que reina sobre un pueblo pobre.
As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16 El príncipe falto de prudencia será un gran opresor; pero el que odia la codicia, vivirá muchos años.
The prince that wants understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hates covetousness shall prolong his days.
17 El hombre reo de sangre humana, corre al sepulcro; ¡no se lo detenga!
A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18 Quien anda en integridad será salvo, mas el que anda por caminos perversos al fin caerá.
Whoso walks uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.
19 Quien labra su tierra, tendrá pan en abundancia, quien se junta con los ociosos se saciará de pobreza.
He that tills his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that follows after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
20 El hombre probo será colmado de bendiciones; mas el que se afana por atesorar no quedará impune.
A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21 No es bueno hacer acepción de personas; hay hombres que hacen un crimen por un bocado de pan.
To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.
22 El envidioso va apurado tras las riquezas; no advierte que le sobrevendrá la pobreza.
He that hastes to be rich has an evil eye, and considers not that poverty shall come upon him.
23 Quien a otro corrige, halla después mayor gracia que aquel que lisonjea con la lengua.
He that rebukes a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.
24 El que roba algo a su padre y a su madre, y dice: “No es pecado”, es compañero del criminal.
Whoso robs his father or his mother, and says, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25 El hombre codicioso suscita querellas, mas el que espera en Yahvé prosperará.
He that is of a proud heart stirs up strife: but he that puts his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
26 El que confía en sí mismo, es un insensato; quien procede con sabiduría, ese será salvo.
He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walks wisely, he shall be delivered.
27 El que da al pobre, no padecerá penuria; quien aparta de él los ojos será colmado de maldiciones.
He that gives unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hides his eyes shall have many a curse.
28 Cuando se levantan los malvados, se esconden los hombres; mas cuando perecen, crece el número de los justos.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
