Proverbios 21
1 Arroyo de agua es el corazón del rey en las manos de Yahvé, quien lo inclina adonde quiere.
The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Parécenle rectos al hombre todos sus caminos, pero el que pesa los corazones es Yahvé.
Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 Practicar la justicia y equidad agrada a Yahvé más que el sacrificio.
To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 Altivez de ojos y soberbia de corazón, son antorcha de los impíos, son pecados.
An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
5 Los pensamientos del diligente dan frutos en abundancia, mas el hombre precipitado no gana más que la pobreza.
The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
6 Amontonar tesoros con lengua artera, es vanidad fugaz de hombres que buscan la muerte.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 La rapiña de los impíos es su ruina, porque rehúsan obrar rectamente.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 El camino del perverso es tortuoso, mas el proceder del honesto es recto.
The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
9 Mejor es habitar en la punta del techo, que en la misma casa al lado de una mujer rencillosa.
[It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 El alma del impío desea el mal, ni siquiera su amigo halla gracia a sus ojos.
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Por el castigo del burlador escarmienta el necio; el sabio se hace más sabio por la enseñanza.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 El justo contempla la casa del impío, y cómo los impíos corren a la ruina.
The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
13 Quien cierra sus oídos a los clamores del pobre, clamará él mismo y no será oído.
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 La dádiva secreta calma la cólera, y el don metido en el seno, la mayor ira.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 El justo halla su gozo en practicar la justicia, en tanto que los obradores de iniquidad se espantan.
[It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
16 El que se desvía del camino de la sabiduría, irá a morar con los muertos.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 El que ama los placeres se empobrece; quien ama el vino y los perfumes no se enriquece.
He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 Rescate del justo es el impío, y el de los rectos, el pérfido.
The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Mejor vivir en tierra desierta que con mujer pendenciera y colérica.
[It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 En la casa del sabio hay tesoros deseables y aceite, pero un necio los malbarata.
[There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 Quien practica la justicia y la misericordia, hallará vida, justicia y honra.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 El sabio va a la guerra contra una ciudad de héroes y arrasa los baluartes en que ella confiaba.
A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 Quien guarda su boca y su lengua, guarda de angustias su alma.
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 El soberbio y altanero, burlador es su nombre; obra con insolente furor.
Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 Matan al haragán sus deseos; pues sus manos rehúsan trabajar.
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 Todo el día se consume codiciando, mientras el justo da sin tasa.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 El sacrificio del impío es abominable, ¡cuánto más si uno lo ofrece con mala intención!
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 El testigo mentiroso perecerá, pero quien escucha habla para siempre.
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 El malvado muestra dureza en su cara, el hombre recto dispone su camino.
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
30 Contra Yahvé no hay sabiduría, ni prudencia, ni consejo.
[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 Se prepara el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria viene de Yahvé.
The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
