Números 31
1 Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Venga a los hijos de Israel por lo que les han hecho los madianitas; después serás reunido con tu pueblo.”
Avenge the wrongs of the children of Israel on the Madianites, and afterwards thou shalt be added to thy people.
3 Y habló Moisés al pueblo, diciendo: “Armad de entre vosotros gente para la guerra, y salgan contra Madián, para ejecutar la venganza de Yahvé contra Madián.
And Moses spoke to the people, saying, Arm some of you, and set yourselves in array before the Lord against Madian, to inflict vengeance on Madian from the Lord.
4 Enviaréis a la guerra mil hombres de cada tribu de entre todas las tribus de Israel.”
Send a thousand of each tribe from all the tribes of the children of Israel to set themselves in array.
5 Fueron entonces elegidos para la guerra doce mil armados de entre los millares de Israel, mil por cada tribu,
And they numbered of the thousands of Israel a thousand of [each] tribe, twelve thousands; [these were] armed for war.
6 los que Moisés envió a la guerra, mil de cada tribu, y con ellos a Finés, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, que llevaba consigo los objetos sagrados y las trompetas de alarma.
And Moses sent them away a thousand of every tribe with their forces, and Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest: and the holy instruments, and the signal trumpets [were] in their hands.
7 Marcharon, pues, contra Madián, como Yahvé había mandado a Moisés; y mataron a todos los varones.
And they set themselves in array against Madian, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they slew every male.
8 Además de los hombres matados, dieron muerte a Eví, Requem, Sur, Hur y Reba, cinco reyes de Madián. Pasaron también a cuchillo a Balaam, hijo de Beor.
And they slew the kings of Madian together with their slain [subjects]; even Evi and Rocon, and Sur, and Ur, and Roboc, five kings of Madian; and they slew with the sword Balaam the son of Beor with their [other] slain.
9 Los hijos de Israel tomaron cautivas a las mujeres de Madián con sus niños, y se apoderaron de todo su ganado, de todos sus rebaños y de todos sus bienes;
And they made a prey of the women of Madian, and their store, and their cattle, and all their possessions: and they spoiled their forces.
10 y quemaron todas las ciudades que habitaban, y todos sus campamentos.
And they burnt with fire all their cities in the places of their habitation and they burnt their villages with fire.
11 Y tomando todo el botín y toda la presa, tanto de personas como de bestias,
And they took all their plunder, and all their spoils, both man and beast.
12 llevaron a los prisioneros, la presa y el botín a donde estaban Moisés, el sacerdote Eleazar y el pueblo de los hijos de Israel, al campamento en los llanos de Moab, cerca del Jordán, frente a Jericó.
And they brought to Moses and to Eleazar the priest, and to all the children of Israel, the captives, and the spoils, and the plunder, to the camp to Araboth Moab, which is at Jordan by Jericho.
13 Moisés, el sacerdote Eleazar y todos los príncipes del pueblo salieron a recibirlos fuera del campamento.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the synagogue went forth out of the camp to meet them.
14 Pero Moisés se airó contra los jefes del ejército, los jefes de los millares y los jefes de los cientos que volvían de la guerra,
And Moses was angry with the captains of the host, the heads of thousands and the heads of hundreds who came from the battle-array.
15 y les dijo: “¿Cómo es que habéis dejado con vida a todas las mujeres,
And Moses said to them, Why have ye saved every female alive?
16 no obstante ser ellas las que, por consejo de Balaam, arrastraron a los hijos de Israel a renegar de Yahvé en el caso de Fegor, y hubo plaga en el pueblo de Yahvé?
For they were [the occasion] to the children of Israel by the word of Balaam of their revolting and despising the word of the Lord, because of Phogor; and there was a plague in the congregation of the Lord.
17 Matad ahora a todo varón entre los niños, matad también a toda mujer que haya conocido varón,
Now then slay every male in all the spoil, slay every woman, who has known the lying with man.
18 pero todas las niñas que no han conocido varón reservadlas para vosotros.
And as for all the captivity of women, who have not known the lying with man, save ye them alive.
19 Y acampad fuera del campamento siete días; todos los que hubiereis matado a un hombre o tocado a un muerto, os purificaréis el día tercero y el día séptimo, así vosotros como vuestros prisioneros.
And ye shall encamp outside the [great] camp seven days; every one who has slain and who touches a dead body, shall be purified on the third day, and ye and your captivity [shall purify yourselves] on the seventh day.
20 Purificaréis también todo vestido, todo objeto de cuero, toda obra hecha de pelo de cabra y todo utensilio de madera.”
And ye shall purify every garment and every leathern utensil, and all furniture of goat skin, and every wooden vessel.
21 Dijo entonces el sacerdote Eleazar a los hombres del ejército que habían ido a la guerra: “He aquí lo que dispone la Ley que Yahvé ha mandado a Moisés:
And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the host that came from the battle-array, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded Moses.
22 El oro, la plata, el bronce, el hierro, el estaño y el plomo,
Beside the gold, and the silver, and the brass, and the iron, and lead, and tin,
23 en fin, todo objeto que resiste al fuego, lo pasaréis por el fuego, y así quedará puro, con tal que sea purificado con el agua lustral. Mas todo lo que no resiste al fuego, lo pasaréis por el agua.
every thing that shall pass through the fire shall so be clean, nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sanctification; and whatsoever will not pass through the fire shall pass through water.
24 Y después de haber lavado vuestros vestidos el día séptimo, quedaréis limpios; y luego podréis volver al campamento.”
And on the seventh day ye shall wash your garments, and be clean; and afterwards ye shall come into the camp.
25 Yahvé habló a Moisés diciendo:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
26 “Haz el cómputo de todo el botín que se ha tomado, tanto en hombres como en animales; (hazlo) con el sacerdote Eleazar y las cabezas de las casas paternas del pueblo.
Take the sum of the spoils of the captivity both of man and beast, thou and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the families of the congregation.
27 Y distribuirás el botín por mitad entre los que como soldados salieron a la guerra y el resto del pueblo.
And ye shall divide the spoils between the warriors that went out to battle, and the whole congregation.
28 Y de parte de los que como soldados salieron a la guerra, tomarás como tributo para Yahvé de cada quinientas cabezas una, tanto de las personas como del ganado mayor, de los asnos y de las ovejas.
And ye shall take a tribute for the Lord from the warriors that went out to battle; one soul out of five hundred, from the men, and from the cattle, even from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses; and ye shall take from their half.
29 Lo tomarás de la mitad que les toca, y lo darás a Eleazar el sacerdote, como tributo para Yahvé.
And thou shalt give [them] to Eleazar the priest [as] the first-fruits of the Lord.
30 De la otra mitad perteneciente a los hijos de Israel, tomarás, al azar, uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como del ganado mayor, de los asnos y de las ovejas, en fin, de todos los animales; y lo darás a los levitas, encargados de cuidar la Morada de Yahvé.”
And from the half belonging to the children of Israel thou shalt take one in fifty from the men, and from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses, and from all the cattle; and thou shalt give them to the Levites that keep the charges in the tabernacle of the Lord.
31 Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar hicieron como Yahvé había mandado a Moisés.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
32 Y era la presa, el resto del botín tomado por la gente del ejército: seiscientas setenta y cinco mil ovejas,
And that which remained of the spoil which the warriors took, was—of the sheep, six hundred and seventy-five thousand:
33 setenta y dos mil cabezas de ganado bovino,
and oxen, seventy-two thousand:
34 sesenta y un mil asnos,
and asses, sixty-one thousand.
35 y personas, es decir, las mujeres que no habían conocido varón, todas ellas fueron treinta y dos mil.
And persons of women who had not known lying with man, all the souls, thirty-two thousand.
36 La mitad que tocaba a los que habían salido a la guerra fue: trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas
And the half, [even] the portion of them that went out to war, from the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
37 y el tributo para Yahvé: seiscientas setenta y cinco ovejas—
And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five.
38 treinta y seis mil cabezas de ganado bovino —y el tributo para Yahvé: setenta y dos—;
And the oxen, six and thirty thousand, and the tribute to the Lord seventy-two.
39 treinta mil quinientos asnos —y el tributo para Yahvé: setenta y uno—;
And asses, thirty thousand and five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord, sixty-one:
40 y diez y seis mil personas —y el tributo para Yahvé: treinta y dos personas—.
and the persons, sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord, thirty-two souls.
41 Entregó Moisés el tributo que correspondía como ofrenda a Yahvé, al sacerdote Eleazar, como Yahvé había ordenado a Moisés.
And Moses gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave-offering of God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses;
42 Y de la mitad perteneciente a los hijos de Israel, la cual Moisés había separado de la de los combatientes,
from the half belonging to the children of Israel, whom Moses separated from the men of war.
43 esta mitad que correspondía al pueblo fue: trescientas treinta y siete mil quinientas ovejas,
And the half [taken] from the sheep, belonging to the congregation, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred.
44 treinta y seis mil cabezas de ganado bovino,
And the oxen, thirty-six thousand;
45 treinta mil quinientos asnos,
asses, thirty thousand and five hundred;
46 y diez y seis mil personas.
and persons, sixteen thousand.
47 De esta mitad correspondiente a los hijos de Israel tomó Moisés, al azar, uno de cada cincuenta, tanto de las personas como de los animales y los dio a los levitas, encargados de la guardia de la Morada de Yahvé, conforme Yahvé había mandado a Moisés.
And Moses took of the half belonging to the children of Israel the fiftieth part, of men and of cattle, and he gave them to the Levites who keep the charges of the tabernacle of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
48 Llegaron entonces a Moisés los jefes de las unidades del ejército, los jefes de los millares y los jefes de las centenas,
And all those who were appointed to be officers of thousands of the host, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, approached Moses, and said to Moses,
49 y dijeron a Moisés: “Tus siervos han hecho el cómputo de los combatientes que han estado a nuestras órdenes, y no falta ni uno de nosotros.
Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing.
50 Por lo cual presentamos como obligación a Yahvé, los objetos de oro que cada uno de nosotros ha encontrado: brazaletes, cadenillas, anillos, pendientes y collares, en expiación por nosotros ante Yahvé.
And we have brought our gift to the Lord, [every] man who has found an article of gold, whether an armlet, or a chain, or a ring, or a bracelet, or a clasp for hair, to make atonement for us before the Lord.
51 Recibieron, pues, Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar de parte de ellos el oro y todos los objetos de arte.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even every wrought article.
52 Y todo el oro que presentaron a Yahvé como ofrenda de los jefes de los millares y de los jefes de las centenas pesó diez y seis mil setecientos cincuenta siclos.
And all the wrought gold, even the offering that they offered to the Lord, was sixteen thousand and seven hundred and fifty shekels from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds.
53 Los combatientes se habían tomado cada cual su botín.
For the men of war took plunder every one for himself.
54 Tomaron Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar el oro de los jefes de los millares y de los jefes de las centenas, y lo metieron dentro del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, para recuerdo de los hijos de Israel ante Yahvé.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and brought the vessels into the tabernacle of witness, a memorial of the children of Israel before the Lord.
