San Mateo 20

1 “Porque el reino de los cielos es semejante a un padre de familia, que salió muy de mañana a contratar obreros para su viña.

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2 Habiendo convenido con los obreros en un denario por día, los envió a su viña.

And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3 Salió luego hacia la hora tercera, vio a otros que estaban de pie, en la plaza, sin hacer nada.

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4 Y les dijo: “Id vosotros también a mi viña, y os daré lo que sea justo”.

And said unto them; Go all of you also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5 Y ellos fueron. Saliendo otra vez a la sexta y a la novena hora, hizo lo mismo.

Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6 Saliendo todavía a eso de la hora undécima, encontró otros que estaban allí, y les dijo: “¿Por qué estáis allí todo el día sin hacer nada?”

And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and says unto them, Why stand all of you here all the day idle?

7 Dijéronle: “Porque “nadie nos ha contratado”. Les dijo: “Id vosotros también a la viña”.

They say unto him, Because no man has hired us. He says unto them, Go all of you also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall all of you receive.

8 Llegada la tarde, el dueño de la viña dijo a su mayordomo: “Llama a los obreros, y págales el jornal, comenzando por los últimos, hasta los primeros”.

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard says unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9 Vinieron, pues, los de la hora undécima, y recibieron cada uno un denario.

And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

10 Cuando llegaron los primeros, pensaron que recibirían más, pero ellos también recibieron cada uno un denario.

But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

11 Y al tomarlo, murmuraban contra el dueño de casa,

And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,

12 y decían: “Estos últimos no han trabajado más que una hora, y los tratas como a nosotros, que hemos soportado el peso del día y el calor”.

Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and you have made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

13 Pero él respondió a uno de ellos: “Amigo, yo no te hago injuria. ¿No conviniste conmigo en un denario?

But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do you no wrong: did not you agree with me for a penny?

14 Toma, pues, lo que te toca, y vete. Mas yo quiero dar a este último tanto como a ti.

Take that your is, and go your way: I will give unto this last, even as unto you.

15 ¿No me es permitido, con lo que es mío, hacer lo que me place? ¿O has de ser tú envidioso, porque yo soy bueno?”

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is your eye evil, because I am good?

16 Así los últimos serán primeros, y los primeros, últimos”.

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

17 Y subiendo Jesús a Jerusalén, tomó aparte a los doce discípulos, y les dijo en el camino:

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,

18 “He aquí que subimos a Jerusalén, y el Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado a los sumos sacerdotes y escribas, y lo condenarán a muerte.

Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 Y lo entregarán a los gentiles, para que lo escarnezcan, lo azoten y lo crucifiquen, pero al tercer día resucitará”.

And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

20 Entonces la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo se acercó a Él con sus hijos, y prosternose como para hacerle una petición.

Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.

21 Él le preguntó: “¿Qué deseas?” Contestole ella: “Ordena que estos dos hijos míos se sienten, el uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda, en tu reino”.

And he said unto her, What will you? She says unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on your right hand, and the other on the left, in your kingdom.

22 Mas Jesús repuso diciendo: “No sabéis lo que pedís. ¿Podéis beber el cáliz, que Yo he de beber?” Dijéronle: “Podemos”.

But Jesus answered and said, All of you know not what all of you ask. Are all of you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

23 Él les dijo: “Mi cáliz, sí, lo beberéis; pero el sentaros a mi derecha o a mi izquierda, no es cosa mía el darlo, sino para quienes estuviere preparado por mi Padre”.

And he says unto them, All of you shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

24 Cuando los diez oyeron esto, se enfadaron contra los dos hermanos.

And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

25 Mas Jesús los llamó y dijo: “Los jefes de los pueblos, como sabéis, les hacen sentir su dominación, y los grandes sus poder.

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, All of you know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

26 No será así entre vosotros, sino al contrario: entre vosotros el que quiera ser grande se hará el servidor vuestro,

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

27 y el que quiera ser el primero de vosotros ha de hacerse vuestro esclavo;

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

28 así como el Hijo del hombre vino, no para ser servido, sino para servir y dar su vida en rescate por muchos”.

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

29 Cuando salieron de Jericó, le siguió una gran muchedumbre.

And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 Y he ahí que dos ciegos, sentados junto al camino, oyendo que Jesús pasaba, se pusieron a gritar, diciendo: “Señor, ten piedad de nosotros, Hijo de David”.

And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, you son of David.

31 La gente les reprendía para que callasen, pero ellos gritaban más, diciendo: “Señor, ten piedad de nosotros, Hijo de David”.

And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, you son of David.

32 Entonces Jesús, parándose los llamó y dijo: “¿Qué queréis que os haga?”

And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will all of you that I shall do unto you?

33 Le dijeron: “¡Señor, que se abran nuestros ojos!”.

They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 Y Jesús, teniendo compasión de ellos, les tocó los ojos, y al punto recobraron la vista, y le siguieron.

So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
