Malaquías 1

1 Carga. Palabra de Yahvé a Israel por boca de Malaquías:

An oracle: the word of Jehovah to Israel by Malachi.

2 “Os he amado, dice Yahvé, mas vosotros decís: «¿En qué nos amaste?» ¿No era acaso Esaú hermano de Jacob? dice Yahvé, y Yo he amado a Jacob;

"I have loved you," says Jehovah. Yet you say, "How have you loved us?" "Wasn't Esau Jacob's brother?" says Jehovah, "Yet I loved Jacob;

3 a Esaú, empero, he aborrecido, y he convertido sus montañas en soledad, (abandonando) su herencia a los chacales del desierto.

but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness."

4 Si Edom dice: «Aunque hemos sido destruidos, volveremos a edificar las ruinas»; así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: Ellos edificarán, mas Yo derribaré, y se les llamará: ‘Tierra de impiedad’, y: ‘Pueblo contra el cual Yahvé está indignado para siempre’.

Whereas Edom says, "We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places;" thus says Jehovah of hosts, "They shall build, but I will throw down; and men will call them 'The Wicked Land,' even the people against whom Jehovah shows wrath forever."

5 Vuestros ojos lo verán; y diréis: «Grande es Yahvé, aún más allá del país de Israel».

Your eyes will see, and you will say, "Jehovah is great—even beyond the border of Israel."

6 El hijo honra al padre, y el siervo a su amo. Ahora bien, si Yo soy Padre, ¿dónde queda mi honra? y si soy Señor, ¿dónde está el temor que me corresponde? dice Yahvé de los ejércitos a vosotros, sacerdotes, que despreciáis mi Nombre. Vosotros diréis: «¿En qué hemos despreciado tu Nombre?»

"A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, then where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is the respect due me? says Jehovah of hosts to you, cohanim, who despise my name. You say, 'How have we despised your name?'

7 Ofrecéis en mi altar pan inmundo y decís: «¿Cómo te hemos profanado?» Con vuestro decir: «La mesa de Yahvé es despreciable».

You offer defiled bread on my altar. You say, 'How have we defiled you?' In that you say, 'Jehovah's table is despised, and its fruit, its food, is despised.'

8 Si ofrecéis un (animal) ciego, ¿no es cosa mala? y si ofrecéis una (res) coja o enferma, ¿no es malo? ¡Preséntalo a tu gobernador! ¿a ver si te lo agradecerá, y te será favorable? dice Yahvé de los ejércitos.

When you offer the blind for sacrifice, isn't that evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, isn't that evil? Present it now to your governor. Will he be pleased with you? Or will he accept your person?" says Jehovah of hosts.

9 Ahora, rogad a Dios que se apiade de nosotros, pues obra de vuestra mano han sido estas cosas. Quizás os será propicio, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos.

"Now, please entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With this, will he accept any of you?" says Jehovah of hosts.

10 ¡Oh si alguno de entre vosotros cerrase las puertas, para que no encendierais en vano (el juego de) mi altar! No tengo complacencia en vosotros, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, y no me agrada la ofrenda de vuestras manos.

"Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain. I have no pleasure in you," says Jehovah of hosts, "neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

11 Porque desde el orto del sol hasta el ocaso es grande mi Nombre entre las naciones; y en todo lugar se ofrece a mi Nombre incienso y ofrenda pura, pues grande es mi Nombre entre las naciones, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos.

For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering: for my name is great among the nations," says Jehovah of hosts.

12 Pero vosotros lo profanáis cuando decís: «La mesa del Señor es inmunda, y lo que en ella se ofrece, es un manjar despreciable».

"But you profane it, in that you say, 'Jehovah's table is defiled, and its fruit, its food, is despised.'

13 Decís “¡Qué fastidio!”, y la colmáis de desprecio, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos; ofreciéndome lo robado, lo cojo y lo enfermo. ¡Esto me ofrecéis en sacrificio! ¿Acaso lo puedo aceptar de vuestra mano? dice Yahvé.

You say also, 'Look, what a weariness it is.' and you sniff scornfully at it," says Jehovah of hosts; "and you have brought that which was taken by violence, the lame, and the sick; thus you bring the offering. Should I accept this from your hand?" says Jehovah of hosts.

14 ¡Maldito el fraudulento que tiene en su rebaño un macho, y habiendo hecho un voto, ofrece a Yahvé una res defectuosa! Porque Yo soy un rey grande, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos; y temible es mi Nombre entre las naciones.

"But the deceiver is cursed, who has in his flock a male, and vows, and sacrifices to Jehovah a blemished thing; for I am a great King," says Jehovah of hosts, "and my name is awesome among the nations."
