Juan 8
1 Y Jesús se fue al Monte de los Olivos.
And at dawn he came again to the temple,
2 Por la mañana reapareció en el Templo y todo el pueblo vino a Él, y sentándose les enseñaba.
and all the people were coming unto him, and having sat down, he was teaching them;
3 Entonces los escribas y los fariseos llevaron una mujer sorprendida en adulterio, y poniéndola en medio,
and the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman having been taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
4 le dijeron: “Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante delito de adulterio.
they say to him, 'Teacher, this woman was taken in the very crime — committing adultery,
5 Ahora bien, en la Ley, Moisés nos ordenó apedrear a tales mujeres. ¿Y Tú, qué dices?”
and in the law, Moses did command us that such be stoned; thou, therefore, what dost thou say?'
6 Esto decían para ponerlo en apuros, para tener de qué acusarlo. Pero Jesús, inclinándose, se puso a escribir en el suelo, con el dedo.
and this they said, trying him, that they might have to accuse him. And Jesus, having stooped down, with the finger he was writing on the ground,
7 Como ellos persistían en su pregunta, se enderezó y les dijo: “Aquel de vosotros que esté sin pecado, tire el primero la piedra contra ella”.
and when they continued asking him, having bent himself back, he said unto them, 'The sinless of you — let him first cast the stone at her;'
8 E inclinándose de nuevo, se puso otra vez a escribir en el suelo.
and again having stooped down, he was writing on the ground,
9 Pero ellos, después de oír aquello, se fueron uno por uno, comenzando por los más viejos, hasta los postreros, y quedó Él solo, con la mujer que estaba en medio.
and they having heard, and by the conscience being convicted, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders — unto the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 Entonces Jesús, levantándose, le dijo: “Mujer, ¿dónde están ellos? ¿Ninguno te condenó?”
And Jesus having bent himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, 'Woman, where are those — thine accusers? did no one pass sentence upon thee?'
11 “Ninguno, Señor”, respondió ella. Y Jesús le dijo: “Yo no te condeno tampoco. Vete, desde ahora no peques más”.
and she said, 'No one, Sir;' and Jesus said to her, 'Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.'
12 Jesús les habló otra vez, y dijo: “Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me siga, no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida”.
Again, therefore, Jesus spake to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world; he who is following me shall not walk in the darkness, but he shall have the light of the life.'
13 Le dijeron, entonces, los fariseos: “Tú te das testimonio a Ti mismo; tu testimonio no es verdadero”.
The Pharisees, therefore, said to him, 'Thou of thyself dost testify, thy testimony is not true;'
14 Jesús les respondió y dijo: “Aunque Yo doy testimonio de Mí mismo, mi testimonio es verdadero, porque sé de dónde vengo y adónde voy; mas vosotros no sabéis de dónde vengo ni adónde voy.
Jesus answered and said to them, 'And if I testify of myself — my testimony is true, because I have known whence I came, and whither I go, and ye — ye have not known whence I come, or whither I go.
15 Vosotros juzgáis carnalmente; Yo no juzgo a nadie;
'Ye according to the flesh do judge; I do not judge any one,
16 y si Yo juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no soy Yo solo, sino Yo y el Padre que me envió.
and even if I do judge my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me;
17 Está escrito también en vuestra Ley que el testimonio de dos hombres es verdadero.
and also in your law it hath been written, that the testimony of two men are true;
18 Ahora bien, para dar testimonio de Mí, estoy Yo mismo y el Padre que me envió”.
I am [one] who is testifying of myself, and the Father who sent me doth testify of me.'
19 Ellos le dijeron: “¿Dónde está tu Padre?” Jesús respondió: “Vosotros no conocéis ni a Mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieseis a Mí, conoceríais también a mi Padre”.
They said, therefore, to him, 'Where is thy father?' Jesus answered, 'Ye have neither known me nor my Father: if me ye had known, my Father also ye had known.'
20 Dijo esto junto al Tesoro, enseñando en el Templo. Y nadie se apoderó de Él, porque su hora no había llegado aún.
These sayings spake Jesus in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come;
21 De nuevo les dijo: “Yo me voy y vosotros me buscaréis, mas moriréis en vuestro pecado. Adonde Yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir”.
therefore said Jesus again to them, 'I go away, and ye will seek me, and in your sin ye shall die; whither I go away, ye are not able to come.'
22 Entonces los judíos dijeron: “Acaso va a matarse, pues que dice: Adonde Yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir”.
The Jews, therefore, said, 'Will he kill himself, because he saith, Whither I go away, ye are not able to come?'
23 Y Él les dijo: “Vosotros sois de abajo; Yo soy de arriba. Vosotros sois de este mundo; Yo no soy de este mundo.
and he said to them, 'Ye are from beneath, I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world;
24 Por esto, os dije que moriréis en vuestros pecados. Sí, si no creéis que Yo soy ( el Cristo ), moriréis en vuestros pecados”.
I said, therefore, to you, that ye shall die in your sins, for if ye may not believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.'
25 Entonces le dijeron: “Pues ¿quién eres?” Respondioles Jesús: “Eso mismo que os digo desde el principio.
They said, therefore, to him, 'Thou — who art thou?' and Jesus said to them, 'Even what I did speak of to you at the beginning;
26 Tengo mucho que decir y juzgar de vosotros. Pues El que me envió es veraz, y lo que Yo oí a Él, esto es lo que enseño al mundo”.
many things I have to speak concerning you and to judge, but He who sent me is true, and I — what things I heard from Him — these I say to the world.'
27 Ellos no comprendieron que les estaba hablando del Padre.
They knew not that of the Father he spake to them;
28 Jesús les dijo pues: “Cuando hayáis alzado al Hijo del hombre, entonces conoceréis que soy Yo ( el Cristo ), y que de Mí mismo no hago nada, sino que hablo como mi Padre me enseñó.
Jesus, therefore, said to them, 'When ye may lift up the Son of Man then ye will know that I am [he]; and of myself I do nothing, but according as my Father did teach me, these things I speak;
29 El que me envió, está conmigo. El no me ha dejado solo, porque Yo hago siempre lo que le agrada”.
and He who sent me is with me; the Father did not leave me alone, because I, the things pleasing to Him, do always.'
30 Al decir estas cosas, muchos creyeron en Él.
As he is speaking these things, many believed in him;
31 Jesús dijo entonces a los judíos que le habían creído: “Si permanecéis en mi palabra, sois verdaderamente mis discípulos,
Jesus, therefore, said unto the Jews who believed in him, 'If ye may remain in my word, truly my disciples ye are, and ye shall know the truth,
32 y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os hará libres”.
and the truth shall make you free.'
33 Replicáronle: “Nosotros somos la descendencia de Abrahán, y jamás hemos sido esclavos de nadie; ¿cómo, pues, dices Tú, llegaréis a ser libres?”
They answered him, 'Seed of Abraham we are; and to no one have we been servants at any time; how dost thou say — Ye shall become free?'
34 Jesús les respondió: “En verdad, en verdad, os digo, todo el que comete pecado es esclavo [del pecado].
Jesus answered them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you — Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin,
and the servant doth not remain in the house — to the age, the son doth remain — to the age; (aiōn g165)
36 Si, pues, el Hijo os hace libres, seréis verdaderamente libres.
if then the son may make you free, in reality ye shall be free.
37 Bien sé que sois la posteridad de Abrahán, y sin embargo, tratáis de matarme, porque mi palabra no halla cabida en vosotros.
'I have known that ye are seed of Abraham, but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you;
38 Yo digo lo que he visto junto a mi Padre; y vosotros, hacéis lo que habéis aprendido de vuestro padre”.
I — that which I have seen with my Father do speak, and ye, therefore, that which ye have seen with your father — ye do.'
39 Ellos le replicaron diciendo: “Nuestro padre es Abrahán”. Jesús les dijo: “Si fuerais hijos de Abrahán, haríais las obras de Abrahán.
They answered and said to him, 'Our father is Abraham;' Jesus saith to them, 'If children of Abraham ye were, the works of Abraham ye were doing;
40 Sin embargo, ahora tratáis de matarme a Mí, hombre que os he dicho la verdad que aprendí de Dios. ¡No hizo esto Abrahán!
and now, ye seek to kill me — a man who hath spoken to you the truth I heard from God; this Abraham did not;
41 Vosotros hacéis las obras de vuestro padre”. Dijéronle: “Nosotros no hemos nacido del adulterio; no tenemos más que un padre: ¡Dios!”
ye do the works of your father.' They said, therefore, to him, 'We of whoredom have not been born; one Father we have — God;'
42 Jesús les respondió: “Si Dios fuera vuestro padre, me amaríais a Mí, porque Yo salí y vine de Dios. No vine por Mí mismo sino que Él me envió.
Jesus then said to them, 'If God were your father, ye were loving me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of myself, but He sent me;
43 ¿Por qué, pues, no comprendéis mi lenguaje? Porque no podéis sufrir mi palabra.
wherefore do ye not know my speech? because ye are not able to hear my word.
44 Vosotros sois hijos del diablo, y queréis cumplir los deseos de vuestro padre. Él fue homicida desde el principio, y no permaneció en la verdad, porque no hay nada de verdad en él. Cuando profiere la mentira, habla de lo propio, porque él es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.
'Ye are of a father — the devil, and the desires of your father ye will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he hath not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaketh, because he is a liar — also his father.
45 Y a Mí porque os digo la verdad, no me creéis.
'And because I say the truth, ye do not believe me.
46 ¿Quién de vosotros puede acusarme de pecado? Y entonces; si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creéis?
Who of you doth convict me of sin? and if I speak truth, wherefore do ye not believe me?
47 El que es de Dios, escucha las palabras de Dios; por eso no la escucháis vosotros, porque no sois de Dios”.
he who is of God, the sayings of God he doth hear; because of this ye do not hear, because of God ye are not.'
48 A lo cual los judíos respondieron diciéndole: “¿No tenemos razón, en decir que Tú eres un samaritano y un endemoniado?”
The Jews, therefore, answered and said to him, 'Do we not say well, that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?'
49 Jesús repuso: “Yo no soy un endemoniado, sino que honro a mi Padre, y vosotros me estáis ultrajando.
Jesus answered, 'I have not a demon, but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me;
50 Mas Yo no busco mi gloria; hay quien la busca y juzgará.
and I do not seek my own glory; there is who is seeking and is judging;
51 En verdad, en verdad, os digo, si alguno guardare mi palabra, no verá jamás la muerte”. (aiōn g165)
verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may keep my word, death he may not see — to the age.' (aiōn g165)
52 Respondiéronle los judíos “Ahora sabemos que estás endemoniado. Abrahán murió, los profetas también; y tú dices: “Si alguno guardare mi palabra no gustará jamás la muerte”. (aiōn g165)
The Jews, therefore, said to him, 'Now we have known that thou hast a demon; Abraham did die, and the prophets, and thou dost say, If any one may keep my word, he shall not taste of death — to the age! (aiōn g165)
53 ¿Eres tú, pues, más grande que nuestro padre Abrahán, el cual murió? Y los profetas también murieron; ¿quién te haces a Ti mismo?”
Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died; whom dost thou make thyself?'
54 Jesús respondió: “Si Yo me glorifico a Mí mismo, mi gloria nada es; mi Padre es quien me glorifica: Aquel de quien vosotros decís que es vuestro Dios;
Jesus answered, 'If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who is glorifying me, of whom ye say that He is your God;
55 mas vosotros no lo conocéis. Yo sí que lo conozco, y si dijera que no lo conozco, sería mentiroso como vosotros, pero lo conozco y conservo su palabra.
and ye have not known Him, and I have known Him, and if I say that I have not known Him, I shall be like you — speaking falsely; but I have known Him, and His word I keep;
56 Abrahán, vuestro padre, exultó por ver mi día; y lo vio y se llenó de gozo”.
Abraham, your father, was glad that he might see my day; and he saw, and did rejoice.'
57 Dijéronle, pues, los judíos: “No tienes todavía cincuenta años, ¿y has visto a Abrahán?”
The Jews, therefore, said unto him, 'Thou art not yet fifty years old, and Abraham hast thou seen?'
58 Díjoles Jesús: “En verdad, en verdad os digo: Antes que Abrahán existiera, Yo soy”.
Jesus said to them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham's coming — I am;'
59 Entonces tomaron piedras para arrojarlas sobre Él. Pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del Templo.
they took up, therefore, stones that they may cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went forth out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
