Job 12
1 Respondió Job y dijo:
And Job answered and said,
2 “De veras, vosotros sois hombres, y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
Truly ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you!
3 También yo tengo seso como vosotros; ninguna ventaja tenéis sobre mí; ¿y quién no sabe lo que decís?
I also have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you; and who knoweth not such things as these?
4 ¡Ludibrio soy de mis amigos! ¡Yo, que clamaba a Dios, y Él le respondía! ¡Yo, el recto e inocente, ahora objeto de oprobio!
I am to be one that is a derision to his friend, I who call upon God, and whom he will answer: a derision is the just upright [man].
5 ¡Ignominia al que sufre! —así piensa el que vive sin cuidados—. ¡Caiga desprecio sobre aquel cuyo pie resbala!
He that is ready to stumble with the foot is a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6 Las guaridas de los salteadores gozan de paz, seguros están los que irritan a Dios; a ellos Dios se lo otorga (todo).
The tents of desolators are in peace, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth.
7 Pregunta, te ruego, a las bestias, y ellas te enseñarán, a las aves del cielo, y te lo dirán;
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowl of the heavens, and they shall tell thee;
8 o habla con la tierra, y ella te instruirá; te lo contarán los peces del mar.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9 ¿Quién de todos estos seres no sabe que la mano de Yahvé ha hecho (todas) las cosas?
Who knoweth not in all these, that the hand of Jehovah hath wrought this?
10 En su mano está el alma de todo viviente, y el soplo de toda carne humana.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all flesh of man.
11 ¿No se ha hecho el oído para discernir las palabras; el paladar para gustar los manjares?
Doth not the ear try words, as the palate tasteth food?
12 En los ancianos reside la sabiduría, y en la larga vida la prudencia;
With the aged is wisdom, and in length of days understanding.
13 con Él, empero, están la sabiduría y el poder, suyo es el consejo y suya la inteligencia.
With him is wisdom and might; he hath counsel and understanding.
14 Lo que Él derriba, no será reedificado; si Él encierra al hombre, no hay quien lo libre.
Behold, he breaketh down, and it is not built again; he shutteth up a man, and there is no opening.
15 Si detiene las aguas, estas se secan; si las suelta, devastan la tierra.
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up; and he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
16 En Él están el poder y el saber, suyos son el engañado y el que engaña.
With him is strength and effectual knowledge; the deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 Él hace andar a los consejeros privados (de consejo), y entontece a los jueces.
He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and judges maketh he fools;
18 Él quita a los reyes la faja, y les ciñe los lomos, con una soga.
He weakeneth the government of kings, and bindeth their loins with a fetter;
19 Hace andar a los sacerdotes descalzos, y a los grandes derriba.
He leadeth priests away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty;
20 Quita el habla a los más respetados, y a los ancianos los priva del juicio.
He depriveth of speech the trusty, and taketh away the judgment of the elders;
21 Vacía desprecio sobre los príncipes, y afloja el cinto de los fuertes.
He poureth contempt upon nobles, and slackeneth the girdle of the mighty;
22 Descubre lo oculto en las tinieblas, y saca a luz la sombra de la muerte.
He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out into light the shadow of death;
23 Da prosperidad a los pueblos y los destruye, dilata a las naciones, y las reduce.
He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them; he spreadeth out the nations, and bringeth them in;
24 Quita la inteligencia a los príncipes de los pueblos de la tierra, y los hace vagar por un desierto sin camino;
He taketh away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste.
25 andan a tientas en tinieblas, sin tener luz; Él los hace errar como a embriagados.”
They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunkard.
