Isaías 3
1 Porque he aquí que el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos, quitará a Jerusalén y a Judá toda clase de apoyo, todo sostén de pan y todo sostén de agua;
For behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2 el héroe, el guerrero y el juez, el profeta, el adivino y el anciano,
the mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the diviner and the elder,
3 el jefe de cincuenta y el hombre de prestigio el consejero, el perito artífice y el hábil encantador.
the captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the clever among artificers, and the one versed in enchantments.
4 Les daré muchachuelos por príncipes, y reinarán sobre ellos algunos mozalbetes.
And I will appoint youths as their princes, and children shall rule over them.
5 En el pueblo tiranizará el uno al otro, y cada cual a su vecino; el joven se precipitará sobre el anciano, y el villano sobre el noble.
And the people shall be oppressed one by the other, and each by his neighbour; the child will be insolent against the elder, and the base against the honourable.
6 Pues uno echará mano de otro en la casa de su padre (diciendo): “Tú tienes vestido, sé nuestro príncipe, y hazte cargo de esta ruina.”
When a man shall take hold of his brother, in his father's house, [and shall say: ] Thou hast clothing; be our chief, and let this ruin be under thy hand;
7 Pero él responderá en aquel día, diciendo: “Yo no soy médico, y en mi casa no hay pan ni ropa; no me hagáis príncipe del pueblo.”
he will lift up [his hand] in that day, saying, I cannot be a healer, and in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; ye shall not make me a chief of the people.
8 Pues Jerusalén está bamboleando, y Judá caerá, porque sus palabras y sus obras están contra Yahvé; así irritan ellos los ojos de su gloria.
For Jerusalem stumbleth and Judah falleth, because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 El aspecto de su semblante da testimonio contra ellos; como Sodoma pregonan su pecado, y no lo encubren. ¡Ay de ellos! porque son ellos los causantes de su ruina.
The look of their face doth witness against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom: they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil upon themselves.
10 Decid al justo que le irá bien; pues comerá el fruto de sus obras.
Say ye of the righteous that it shall be well [with him], for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 pero ¡ay del malo! Mal le irá; porque le será retribuido según las obras de sus manos.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill [with him], because the desert of his hands shall be rendered unto him.
12 Mi pueblo está oprimido por caprichosos, y mujeres lo gobiernan. Pueblo mío, los que te guían te hacen errar y destruyen el camino por donde debes seguir.
[As for] my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people! they that guide thee mislead [thee], and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 Se levanta Yahvé para hacer justicia; se pone de pie para juzgar a los pueblos:
Jehovah setteth himself to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples.
14 Yahvé entrará en juicio con los ancianos de su pueblo y con sus príncipes: “Vosotros habéis devorado la viña, en vuestras casas están los despojos del pobre.
Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people and their princes, [saying: ] It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard: the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 ¿Por qué aplastáis a mi pueblo, y moléis el rostro de los pobres?” dice el Señor, Yahvé de los ejércitos.
What mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the faces of the afflicted? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
16 Y dijo Yahvé: “Por cuanto las hijas de Sión son tan altivas y andan con el cuello erguido y guiñando los ojos, y caminan meneando el cuerpo al son de las ajorcas de sus pies,
And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;
17 por eso el Señor raerá la cabeza de las hijas de Sión, y Yahvé descubrirá sus vergüenzas.
therefore the Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts.
18 En aquel día quitará el Señor las hermosas ajorcas, los solecillos y las lunetas,
In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents,
19 los pendientes, los brazaletes y las cofias,
the pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils,
20 los turbantes, las cadenillas y los ceñidores, los pomos de olor y los amuletos,
the head-dresses, and the stepping chains, and the girdles, and the scent-boxes, and the amulets;
21 los anillos y los aros de la nariz,
the finger-rings, and the nose-rings;
22 los vestidos de gala y los mantos, los chales y los bolsitos,
the festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets;
23 los espejos y la ropa fina, las tiaras y las mantillas.
the mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils.
24 En lugar de perfume habrá hediondez; en lugar de ceñidor, una soga: en lugar de cabellos rizados, calvicie; en lugar de vestidos suntuosos, una túnica áspera; en lugar de hermosura, marca de fuego.
And it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty.
25 Tus hombres a espada caerán, y tus fuertes en la batalla.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the fight;
26 Se lamentarán las puertas de (Sión) y estarán de luto; y ella, desolada, se sentará en tierra.
and her gates shall lament and mourn; and, stripped, she shall sit upon the ground.
